I think it is spelled "plaits" not "plats." And I think that plaits and braids are essentially the same thing but we say braid more commonly in the U.S.
This is not getting nowhere at all because I thought the lady was supposed to be doing is to braid the girl's hair to her scalp but instead she's showing us plats?! These experts are totally CONFUSED!! smh
@rockert89 OMFG!!!!! FINALLY someone who knows the difference- lol. I'm from the Caribbean, and I'm telling you -no offense- Americans are the only people I know that keep mixin' it up.
@rockert89 Depends on where you're from. In the most English speaking European countries, loose braids are referred to as plats; where as in most parts of the US a braid is a loose hanging "braid;" the term "plats" are not used in common US American jargon. Perhaps your reference to a "braid" is what Americans call a "cornrow."
lol i learned to braid hair myself when i was really young. no one would teach me when i asked so one day i was playing with a barbie doll in my moms car and i just started braiding it and then i'm like hey mom i know how to braid!
haha same thing happened to me!! :P except it was my blanket i used instead of a barbie doll. my blanket had a weird design so every side it had had a buncha strings on each side. so i took 3 of them and then i started twisting them and then i realized i was braiding!! hehe :)
