  • I mention West in The Celebrity Song.

  • Comment removed

  • Mae, was so ahead of her time, even censors had to be created because of her dialogue, talk about freedom of speech. She was an original.

  • Hehe! One of my fave quotes of all time!

  • Damn. She needed to do a movie with Bogie. I can't even imagine how much fun that would have been to watch.

  • Hahaha... wonderful!

  • Christ! she wouldn't have to ask me twice, whats the matter with that man is he gay?

  • is the line "that a pistol in your pocket...." in this film?

  • Man, they don't make women like this any more.

  • Tom and Jerry - Mouse Trouble.

    They use her line misquoted.

  • Such a brilliant woman! She wrote most of her own stuff.

  • She Was All Natural Too, Never Went Under The Knife! Just Gorgous!

  • You can be had! ... hahahahahaha! Great post.

  • Mae West was as hot as they come, but the fact is, it was Lillian Roth who really made that line famous "Come up and see me sometime" with her strip tease number in 'Take A Chance' in 1933. Both ladies were sizzling, and tragically born long before my time ...

  • I love how she talks!

  • me too. its amazing. no woman has a voice like that.

  • Mae was one Fierceeeee ass bitch. She is my IDOL!

  • mae west was sooo sexy. her voice, body, and style was just so so confident and sexy. i also love full figured women. she is something else.

  • This scene is historic for being one of the first to make into a film referencing a direct invitation for sex, defying the censorship of the Production Code Administration (PCA).

  • Mae West - the world is a duller place without her!

  • her book MAE WEST SHE ALWAYS KNEW HOW is a fantastic book and its writen in a style that makes you feel like shes talking to you and taking you back into hollywood through the ages. she was ahead of her time, she really was.

  • Mae was definitely a one of a kind!

  • These are the kind of white folks I want to meet!!!

  • Love It

  • Oh man! Cary Grant looks for young here! I didn't know he starred with Mae West in anything. He has such a baby face! :D

  • Only Mae can make the hottest man to ever walk the earth look like he just got TOLD.

  • She was awesome!!!!

  • Love that langourous drawl! "I've met your kind be-fo-ah!" LOL And giving him an unmistakable look with it. Go, Mae! 75 years later, she's still the hottest woman ever on film!

  • What a gal!

  • Yeap! The line by Mae West was: "Come up sometime, and see me". They switched the lines with "Come up and see me sometime". A song by Lilian Roth, while doing a mini striptease, in another movie. By the way West is always funny and hottie.

  • mae west was sooo sexy. i love thick women and her voice is so sexy.

  • cary grant! 8P.... (drool!)

    Mae is awesome!

  • Her famous misquoted line. Listen carefully as she says....."Come up sometime, and see me"

  • may west is the bomb, she KNOWS she's the SHIT!

  • ABSOLUTLY!!!!

  • That was the birth of the immortal "Come up and see me sometime line" which was misquoted so often Miss West adopted it and wound up using it somewhere in every one of her subsequent classic films.

"You can be had" was from the stage version of this film, "Diamond Lil," and one of the lines the Hayes Office wanted deleted from the final print, but somehow it survived, much to our eternal pleasure!

  • I think she's the original Barracuda!

  • A brave and amazing woman. I love her!! Wish she was still around.

  • Her dialog drove the censors "nuts" for years. But, she never said anything "dirty" - just suggestive........I met her thru a friend in Hollywood 30+ years ago...She owned lots of property in Hollywood and her own apartment house and lived in the Pent House of the bldg. Great "Gal".....

  • Mae West was a clean living woman. No coke up that nose. What she did and when she did it is really something. Loved the twinkle in her eyes when she was near a man and they usually twinkled back, Ha!

  • "You can be had"!! Hilarious! Mae West is great. Who else could make Cary Grant look so bumbling?

  • I love that line...
