@xylowave The given metronome marking is an insane dotted crotchet = 120-126. Most people decided to take it around 90-100, so yeah this is just a hair under the standard tempo.
This was excellent! The most expressive version that I've heard thus far. The Pianist was great. May I ask what type of mallets you used for this performance.
There are so many videos of this out there, but for me this was the most clear. You can really hear the music. Te pianist is also good about keeping it dry. Many other pianists did not match the clarity of the marimba the way this one does. I think others may have tried too hard to get it up to the metronome marking that was given, but it's impossible to make music at that crazy speed. This soloist used common sense and took a tempo that really made the piece sound pretty.
This video is awesome! I like your interpretation of the piece. It helps a lot to hear how everything fits together and to work out the tricky parts. Excellent
Amazing video! I'm also learning this piece and this video helped me put it in musical context. There's a computer in our high school band room, so I stay after school every day and play along. It especially helps in that polyrhythm section!
Great job! I'm learning this piece right now, and I can't even tell you how many times I've watched this video. It's helped me a lot in memorizing and learning how everything flows together. Love it!
The reason we can't hear the musicality is because of the recording. If you watch his mallets, you can tell that he is actually using more dynamics than it seems.
Amazing!! I've heard of people deciding to roll the way you do - I think I like it this way! Wonderful job - wonderful accompaniment and video editing as well!
very impressive! Great accuracy and sound. Half of me thinks it should go a little faster (120 marked; this is about 100 i'd say), but the feeling is very good here. Well done!
the dotted quarter = 120 marked is somewhat of a joke. creston just meant it to be fast... if u try playing it at that tempo you will see what i mean. most performers play it around 95ish, this is about 85.
nice performance though! :) great sound, accuracy, dynamics, etc... how much did you pay the accompanist? haha
you sound great. there´s the thing about the tremolos. they are there for a reason. and the tempo, its almost half of the printed. but, great music, nice to hear. have you tried 4 mallets?
Great performance... I'm very impressed with with the way you connect your phrasing perfectly, plus your accuracy is near flawless. One question: Why do you decide to play the rolls that open, making them very metric and in time with the rest of the other sixteenth notes? I was just curious. Great job!
2:05 look at pianist. Wow.

Very nice nice job by both performers. Does anyone the metronome making for this movement? This sounds a hair under tempo.
