Julies voice is actually lower here than in the movie because she's 17 years older than in the movie. The older you get the warmer and thicker your voice becomes. Regardless, no one and I mean no one at 60 years of age could sing this song so beautifully and perfectly as Julie Andrews, theres no one like her and no one will ever replace her.
Beautiful.....I am teary eyed watching this thinking that this crazy world gave her to us with that beautiful voice and now it has taken it away from us.....I love Julie Andrews!!!!!
I know it was before but i just mean you can tell that her voice is strained and a bit ragged and i just wonder what it would have been like after the op
I really do like this song and do think that Julie is very very good but to be honest her voice is very heavy and you can hear the strain. If only we could have heard the difference if the op had have been successful.
You should compare the Broadway cast recording to the film--she has a very dark sound on the b'way cast recording. How long was she in Victor/Victoria on b'way? I think it was shortly after that she was operated on for vocal nodes.
the greatness of her is that they could have cast anyone with a voice, but she was so good in the movie they had no other choice. i wish i could have seen her do this. i'm a great fan of the movie since I was a kid. Is there anyone working right now with that ability today?
Julie Andrews is the best ever. There is noone that can do the things that she could, her ability as a singer and actress is astonishing and it really upsets me that she can't sing anymore! i hate to see it when people try to get her to sing now and she really can't!
I too prefer the film version, but either way, what a lady, what a song, kind of makes the stars and the moon seem insignificant and takes me home instantly
This is 1 of my 3 favorite songs Julie has ever sung--unfortunately, her voice is already very ragged in this play--Soundtrack of the film is much better.
Perfect pitch as always. She sings Mancini's ballad so expressively. This is one of my favourite songs by Mancini because it's just gorgeous both lyrics and melody. Thanks for sharing.
excellent... doesn't it break your heart to know that it can never be again.... the way she deals with losing her voice is so courageous... i will admire her forever.. thankyou
This is one of the few Broadway shows avaiable on dvd, and vhs.
