hey great original i'm diggin the old school rock n roll vibe you got goin on, i wish i had a mustang with that "shimmering" tone, too bad there almost 1k now.
im thinking of buying an all original 1976 mustang (with original case and manual) for 500 euros. There is a little rust on the bridge. err is this a good deal?
While I wasn't kidding about buying it, I was kidding about them not being worth more than reissues. I'm a huge mustang fan, and I don't even own a reissue. When you do sell it though, realise you're sitting on a gold mine with that guitar. I'd give my only guitar - a Gibson Les Paul Studio, quite some money and my left nut for it. Pre-CBS guitars are always worth a lot. Take good care of it. :)
Thanks for the suggestion, Pavlov. I'm not a collector. I've only heard others mention that the pre-CBS are more valuable. And I do take good care of it. It's tucked away in a metal, hard shell case. The Original Case that came with it was taken by my late brother for some stupid reason or other. I n longer have it. Those Original Cases were well-made, I'll say. Very sturdy. Thanks again, TF.
Ha! You make a good point with the Superbowl vs Walmart analogy. I noticed the one featured in this video has a new neck. It looks like an ebony fretboard. Mine has the rosewood. I don't believe I've ever seen a Mustang of any year that has a Maple fretboard.
I have heard this too. There are some called Kinman pickups (I hear good things) - wound the traditional way but eliminate some noise inherent in the originals. I can agree that there is slight noise with the Mustang but then I really like the pure old Fender sound. And its not that prominent. Bought a Strat and found it was even noisier and intruded on the quieter sections of performance. For very quiet accompaniment some Strats might be an issue. No such problem with the Mustang.
I have a fender mustang bass original 60th or 70th i dont know the SN is 539093 could i change it for a stratocaster classic ? and could any person sayd me the year? thanks
as sultan said, cobain didn't play a jag-stang, he just designed it. i have a jag-stang and love it, but cobain played a mustang mostly. too bad he never got to see this (a jagstang) great guitar come to life, cuz it's a great guitar that's a blast to play
The bass is a short neck 4 string Casino that I recorded earlier into a separate track in Garageband, along with the rhythm guitar and a chord riff. The drums are based on a Garageband loop but edited with piano roll to suit the music. I started with the drums & rhythm tracks to provide a solid metronome to anchor the timing for each instrument being recorded. When I played the lead I used several guitar sound effects that were switched to change the tone and impact for each part.
The guitar came in 3 colours: Olympic white, Daphne blue and Dakota red, which is the one I have. My Dad bought it used for $100 in 1976 (it was manufactured on May 8, 1965). Very cool guitar with natural wear and still in great shape. I saw a reissue recently and it freaked me out to see it in new condition without a scratch on it.
Im getting this axe in a few weeks. Im getting a white color with that same pickguard. although i assume yours was white once which is now an aged yellow? oh and im getting mine for grunge
i savin up this summer to get one for the same reason. I am gettin a new one tho not a vintage. Cool thing about this guitar is that it can play it all.
Nothing has ever been changed. The original white is now a aged yellow and all of the chrome work is original and in fine condition. Best thing is the neck and action which are the best of any of my guitars.
Love the warm slightly fuzzy tone you get from a Mustang. There's nothing else like it. I love these guitars. They're just so much fun. Pity they're so prone to detuning themselves.
Hah hah, cause this guy was twenty in the fifties, XD is used to show laughter, also written xD, it's like a sideways face, lean your head to the left.
i´m nota hater,i liked nirvana once, i even own a Mustang and this socalled "cobain-gear" by myself (polychorus, small clone etc etc) but there is so much better music out there than nirvana nirvana nirvana...
well i know theres better music out there for everyone else but turns out that not all of us like the same things u like xD so yeah...i love nirvana but thats not the only band for me...caifanes r or were the shit but i doubt u know them...
i agree. yea nirvana is all good and all but come on ...your not gonna get anywhere playing that shit ...its all good but if you wanna get better in guitar its not about what kurt had ...just create your own unique sound that is the best part of jamming ...i am all in love with alice in chains but im not all over jerry's dick trying to be like him im creating my own sound
ye john frusciante owns a fender mustang, Kurt cobain owned many mustangs. jimi page is different he wasn't much of a fender guy he used a telecaster here and there but he was a gibson sg/ les paul kind of guy. Gibson humbuckers give you a thick full sound, were the single coils of a the mustang give you that twangy sound.
but i still prefer my 1969 fender mustang competition.
jimmy page recorded MOST of his songs on a tele, and preformed live with gibsons alot. if u listen to alot of the songs on albums, you can tell alot are played on telecasters.
It is the original clean white that has faded over the years, and I suspect suffered from the earlier days of smoke-filled bars. Under the pick guard it's original.
Dude, makes me very sad I had to sell my white Mustang several years ago to raise some fundage. I think it was the same one, from the looks of yours. Mine was a bit banged up on the body, but oh, that nice tone !
