Without a doubt the people of Greece have to be proud of the Athens Olympics. The Olympics came home to it's origins and Athens welcomed the world with the most beautiful opening ceremony. I was very moved and will never forget it.

Sydney was the best Olympics ever! It was enjoyed by all and showcased the magnificence of the Australian culture! The Greek olympics was stupid...nothing new was done it was like reading a boring ancient history book!

Greek history is what we study in high school, unfortunately, there are more well preserved Greek relics at the British Musuem than in Athens, thats how stupid greeks are..they cant take care of their own culture. You probably dont know China doesn't expect the moneyback at all. No matter how much China might gain from tourism is too limited. Another thing is China's visa policy has been tighten up due to ensuring Olympics' security. They may want to show the world confidence and superpower so as to get access to more great opportunities for a true success in future.
The Beijing Olympics did show the history of China. For example,when the people showed the origin and development of the Chinese words and when disciples of Confucius came out. Actually,the whole ceremony portrayed Chinese history: the Fou drums,the scroll which showed the process of paper making(Without this paper,what would the world be like today?),and painting a scroll which is important in Chinese culture, and a lot more.

Well obviously there is a difference between the perception of these two different cultures..The Chinese openning ceremony focused on majestic and impressive acts with many people and dazzling colours...but you can't blame Athens for being boring when its own openning ceremony was based on simplicity, authenticity and humanity..which are after all the basic elements of the true spirit of the Games..in my artistic opinion Athens was much better showing its quality rather than its quantity...

ok, i was here two days ago claiming the athens ceremony is better than beijing's. after a review of the beijing ceremony shot by NBC i think my judgement has changed. what i think now is both ceremonies should be equally rated. while athen's remains the most beautiful one i think we have to admit beijing's is the most ever magnificent. all the bad impression is due to the amaterish techniques of CCTV's broadcasting director. so proud China has done this wonderful job.
Well, CGI manipulated or not, it's well done on that part :P Only parts I loved were the Tai Chi, Confucious idealism, The scroll and the use of thousands of humans art. Fireworks and shape of stadium have some hints of former Olympic Games. The feeling of magnificent were the talent of thousands of China's children's effort to support the country.Overall, it's the human formations that really stands out - China is well know for that.

I think that the Beijing 2008 Olympics perfectly shows China s past, present, and future. Everything all goes hand in hand. The whole opening ties together and portrays China clearly. The history of the scroll in the beginning,the drawing of the landscape on the scroll by the dancers and the children,and all the athletes from different parts of the world also cooperated in the artistic process of completing the scroll by adding the colors which completed the landscape on the scroll.

Another thing is China's visa policy has been tighten up due to ensuring Olympics' security. The Beijing Olympics did show the history of China. For example,when the people showed the origin and development of the Chinese words and when disciples of Confucius came out. Actually,the whole ceremony portrayed Chinese history: the Fou drums,the scroll which showed the process of paper making(Without this paper,what would the world be like today?),and painting a scroll which is important in Chinese culture, and a lot more.

Well obviously there is a difference between the perception of these two different cultures..The Chinese openning ceremony focused on majestic and impressive acts with many people and dazzling colours...but you can't blame Athens for being boring when its own openning ceremony was based on simplicity, authenticity and humanity..which are after all the basic elements of the true spirit of the Games..in my artistic opinion Athens was much better showing its quality rather than its quantity...

Greek opening ceremony was close to human...Chinese opening ceremony was too far away from human...the only thing that it was better, was the organisation..nothing more...you can ask people about that..

the replacement even got interviewed! :( I'm sure the original singer heart was really broken. All this bcos China wanted a Flawless Olympic but actually flawless selfishness with artificial dreams & political intentions. Not just that for this 29th Olympic, China forsake her children who suffered homeless and poverty for the sake of 'saving face' and 'flawless.Worst fooled the World and still looked innocent. I think you worried too much. If you read Chinese media, the original singers as well as her parents never felt upset. What they felt was proud of being part of the performance. The West and the East share different value. When you watch a movie, do all the actress have to sing with their own voices? Is that a problem?

ok, i was here two days ago claiming the athens ceremony is better than beijing's. after a review of the beijing ceremony shot by NBC i think my judgement has changed. what i think now is both ceremonies should be equally rated. while athen's remains the most beautiful one i think we have to admit beijing's is the most ever magnificent. all the bad impression is due to the amaterish techniques of CCTV's broadcasting director. so proud China has done this wonderful job.

Well, CGI manipulated or not, it's well done on that part :P Only parts I loved were the Tai Chi, Confucious idealism, The scroll and the use of thousands of humans art. Fireworks and shape of stadium have some hints of former Olympic Games. The feeling of magnificent were the talent of thousands of China's children's effort to support the country.Overall, it's the human formations that really stands out - China is well know for that.

When this was originall broadcast i couldnt wait. Athens have been wanting it for a long time, the original origin of the games, come full circle, tradition and very historical. amazing opening. No matter how good the beijing opening was, this still still the best

ur not objective n that's unfair. the athens openin ceremony was pioneerin,the first time an olympix ceremony left people trully awed. in 2004 we saw a combination of greek culture-AS OLYMPIX WERE THE MOST ESSENTIAL PART OF THE ANCIENT GREEK CULTURE-n international characteristix(DNA,people from all over the world etc). that ceremony will definitely inspire the next hosts of the olympix n its uniqueness will always make it the best olympix ceremony ever. nevertheless,congrats 2 beijing.
