I got mine to stay on by using a power chip with an external slide switch mounted near the cooling fan so you can turn it on and off manualy and it's also bypassed through the original power connection on the motherboard so it still comes on when you have a message even with the switch off. I basically tapped into the power connections of one of the usb ports and the chip has a power regulator so it doesn't overload the leds in the slot, it looks awesome.
