  • Holy Redeemer Catholic Shrine here in Las Vegas started doing this last year.

    Absolutely love it.

  • I absolutely love the Agnus Dei.

    Roman Catholic for life.

  • At my church they only do the Agnus Dei in Latin during Lent, and we don't even kneel at this part, which bothers me. Good job Detroit Catholics, y'all got it right ;)

  • You can kneel as you wish.

  • Fantastic!

  • Can someone give me a way to get a professionally recorded song of this specific version of Agnus Dei?

  • Dimitry19 is correct. Quite a few composers have used this gregorian chant line in their requiems. For example, in Durufle's Requiem you can find this line in his Agnus Dei.

You can listen to a live recording of the Agnus Dei from Durufle's Requiem for free by Saint Clement's Church Choir in Philadelphia at their website which is w.w.w.s-clements.o.r.g. just click on their music audio library link and scroll all the way down

  • ...the melody for this sounds like the one from the requiem mass for the dead...

  • My Church, St. Johns (Worcester, Ma) still chants this prayer instead of sing the english "Lamb of God". It is such a BEAUTIFUL prayer, im so glad they kept that in their Mass!

Like the Church in the video, St. John's also has the Tabernacle located smack dab in the middle behind the alter. I still dont understand why American Bishops moved it to the side after Vatican II.

  • @mitchkramah the Vatican2 mass is a red-herring. We were told it was about lay-participation.Its really just about the priest as the boring center of our-lives.

  • Where can I find this version not others that I heard

  • I love Agnus Dei so much, yes, I wish there were more too.

  • It's Tridentine Mass - Roman Missal from 1962 year.

  • Pity there isn't more of it!

  • Huge altar.. wow

  • There are many chants for the Agnus Dei in the Liber Usualis, each sung according to feast or season of the year.

  • i always thought the gregorian agnus dei was longer like the one sung on the cd from the monkes of santa domingo de silos spain?

this was just like how fast we sing it during lent at our church a parish in the fort wayne south bend diosese.
