  • Was the Roland cube good with the guitar? I have an epiphone lp std, and the cube and want a cool acdc guitar!

  • Cubes sound decent, but I dislike their volume controls.

1-2 is unresponsive, 3-10 is the actual volume range.

that means that you can't really play at a low level when you want to, because the lower volume levels don't work.

I did get a Marshall MG100 HDFX (halfstack) pretty soon after getting the guitar, needless to say that it sounds a lot better than the cube.

  • Nice crestwood. (or is it a wilshire, I never can tell?)

  • 1:44 / thoughs are probobly the baggiest jeans i have ever seen lol

  • awesome guitar just got the gibson sg faded special

  • I got an sg with the faded finish except mine has moon inlays and nobs with the shiny tops(like on an sg standard) i alto know it's discontinued and was bought for 700$ used.......so can someone tell me what the hell this guitar is?

  • i got one yesterday cant get it til christmas though :(

  • I'm getting one soon should i get it in brown or chery?

  • That depends on which color you like more... :P

The guitars are identical except for the color.

  • dude!

i´d love to have these guitars^^

i´m going to buy a sg sf wc ,too.

i can´t wait to play it!!!!

  • im sorry but u got a good collection of guitars but im sure by the age of 20 u sure gonna hav more guitars then that right :D i hav 20 5 LP's 2 iBanez 4 SG's 4 epi's and some classic guitars acus 1 warbeast

  • Why would I need that many guitars?

    I'm not a collector, I'm a guitar player.

  • i like guitar and music and like the styles of many guitars plus i play in my church :}

  • rich boy :P

  • no just blessed not really that rich

i just like to play music

  • I'm a 13 year old so i don't have a lot of money on hand, found one of these at my local store used but functioned completely fine for only $500 put it on layaway, cant wait for christmas

  • good deal, i started playing when I was 13 and its taken me all across the country! I just bought a gibson SG robot...its a hell of a guitar!

  • I cant wait to get mine, i found one with an ebony finish which is a gcenter exclusive so they are a bit harder to find. Put it on layaway.

  • I love this guitar but I prefer in Cherry :D

  • i would put a 2008 or 09 Epiphone G-400 SG 62 up against a Gibson SG any day. the G-400 SG 62 comes stock with Alnico V Humbuckers now thats a kick in the ass!

  • the alnicos on the epiphone suck tho

  • nice axe dude. I love the faded colour!

but I'm getting myself a Gibson sg standard 3 sc! Can't wait ; I'll keep you noticed ;) in the meantime I'm jealous!

  • Haha.

SG's are awesome, you're gonna love the axe you're getting. :)

  • Well it's a little different than most sg's, it has 3 single coil blade pickups... Can't wait to test it, should sound like a hot strat but with the balls and dark tones of an sg, Can't wait!

I'm planning on doing a demo when I get it, I'll need to make sure the tone is the right thing for me though!

  • how much would one of those set you back?

  • the guitar center price is currently $699.00 that doesnt include any taxes or anything like that though

  • will we actualy see you playing it then???

  • Eventually, yes. :P

  • nice one mate ive just wont a epiphone g400 from ebay one of the older modals with full pickguard

  • Comment removed

  • Careful with that axe, the finish they put on it doesn't get along with foam padded stands.

  • careful with that axe eugine

  • why is that?

  • 2:36 I like that poster on your wall lol

  • nice...i have the exact same guitar, its nice..

  • Man Could you have done a video were we listened to it, i don't want to be insensitive but i don't care 'bout your studio

  • Yep, I could have, though I didn't.

lots of background noise at the time due to construction in my local area.

  • the name is for those about to rock

  • is the les paul a gibson or epiphone?

  • former 'silvertone', but fully customised by myself.

  • whats the name of the song

  • the artist and name are at the ending credits of the video.

  • For About To Rock (We Solute You) by AC/DC

  • u dont know this song lol idiot alert

  • due i dident remember the name of the song when i heard it

  • due i dont own a gibso i play jackson

  • they say the name over and over again!

"for those about to rock we salute you"

  • cough cough (for those about to rock) cough cough

haha no salute you on the title man :)

  • i know but that is the phrase in the song and it has the title in it

  • soooo.. what is this movie about?

  • i have that roland amp AND the sg special haha

  • im gettin one of these for my birthday

  • Wow I have 4 guitars... a Les Paul, an Sg, an Explorer, and a Esp and there all Gibson's! :D

  • dude an esp isnt a gibson

  • well I have 3 gibsons what is an esp then?

  • an esp is a totally different brand bro. its actually CALLED esp

  • what am I on about then i thought it was gibson oh well... :P I will see what esp it is

  • ...you don't even know what kind of guitar you have?

  • I do know... I just thought esp's where gibson cause this guy told me they were

  • have an SG....it simply owns!!

  • i prefer the stadard version of the sg, and the angus young signature guitar

  • Yeah, the guitar speaks for itself as soon as you plug it in, and the finish just looks amazing.

It's also surprisingly versatile, a lot of different music styles can be played with the guitar, which is why I love this SG as well :)

  • just change that amp, or else its || <-- so close to perfect

  • The amp in the video IS changed :p The video shows a 15 watt Roland Cube... it has been replaced with a Marshall MG100HDFX (100 watt halfstack).

It's a great amp for most types of rock music, it gets negative feedback from metal guitarists, because the distortion doesn't allow it to get heavy enough for metal :p

I mostly play anything from bluesrock to hardrock, I'm loving my amp.

  • I have a Gibson SG Special Faded Black from 2003 too ^.^ i love this guitar.

  • i love gibson SG !!!

  • put it in its case my friend didn't and he dropped it, now he has to sell the parts

  • 16,000th!.

  • specials have more than three...

    faded brown

    faded cherry

    ebony

    cherry red

yellow? (ive seen one, dont think they make many though)

    does that clear things up?

  • is that brown or cherry red

  • its brown i think

  • yeah it's brown, there's no cherry red for the special as far as i know ....

  • i was thinking of gettin a gibson sg faded, would you recommend one?

  • Definately.

If you like the SG sound, but don't have the money for a Gibson SG Standard, the SG Special Faded is the best thing for you.

The Faded version and the SG Standard actually share the same neck pickup, it may look like a budget guitar, but it really has a great sound.

  • Yah they rock. the neck is superfast. I own 1. Play just as well as the standard. sounds sweet. Definetly get one.

  • i dont own one but definately get it its cheaper but it sounds as good as a standard

  • i thought the sg SPECIAL faded had dif. kind of finger board????

  • Yeah, I've had my eye on one of these babies for months, but need another $400. Can't wait!! =)

  • I bought one today, and I was so glad I did.

I went to the guitarstore to try an Epiphone SG G400, but the guy told me that he had a special offer and he handed me a Gibson SG Special Faded, with Boston case for just 550 bucks. And ofcourse I bought it.

  • I will finally get my hands on one of these guitars tomorrow :D

  • me too haha :DDD my first guitar

  • SG rules, dosen't it?

Well, I did not get it today, because the shop only had white ones and I wanted a black one. Luckily, they're gonna get a shipment of gutars in one week, and with a black guitar they reserved for me. Many of the the SG models are made in a limited edition, a different one each year, and the company I'm gonna buy it from ony got tree of them left, so I'm pretty lucky I got one.

  • yeah in my opinion it's the best sounding(and looking)guitar out there. I'm getting the red one :D but i do think black is the better color. the place im getting mine from didn't have any though :(

  • I got the guitar last week!

It's black and white. It has one volume knob, one tone knob and one six positions pickup selecter that also works kinda like a killswitch.

  • First guitar, lol, LOL, xD, i got a morgran first, and so i got and epiphone SG G-400 But i havent a gibson yet,

  • rawn321:

Hey, a Morgan was my first guitar too!

  • wanna know what sucks. . .sunday that sg costs 699 in store and online at guitar center, then on monday, it cost 849

  • how high is the action on the faded??

  • sorry for my ignorance lol what song? i know its ac/dc....

  • For Those About To Rock(We Salute You)

  • thanks

  • is this the cherry or brown?

  • It is quite brown.

  • Hey dude i just got back from the shop and i got the gibson .. sounds sweet as owt =D thanks for your advice :D

    Rock On

  • Cool bro, Nice one.

    Enjoy it :)

  • K thanks m8 =D I prefer higher pitched sounds for awesomely sounding solos lol

  • I hear ya, I love the sound I get out of my SG when I play solos, compared to my Les Paul style guitar.

If you really like the higher pitch, go for the SG, but as long as you go "Gibson" you really can't go wrong either way ;)

  • Hey guys, im after a new guitar nd ive been promised one next week im going to a gibson shop day after tommorow and im just asking for your advice. Im thinking about gettin a gibson sg special in ebony but im having a split decision between that and a gibson les paul studio ebony. Can any1 help me decide please?

    Thanks

    Rock on

  • No one can decide that for you, it's all about the music style you want to play, and the sound you want to get.

SG's have a bit of a high sound, and LesPauls have a bit more bass into their sound.

Since you're going to a shop, just play both of the guitars and see which one you like best.

  • coz im a lefty im getting the right handed one and just switching the strings around much cheeper

  • Yeah, The only strange thing will be the fact that the tone/volume knobs and the pickupselector will be on a strange spot, but you can get used to that.

Jimi Hendrix did the same thing. :)

  • Beautiful.. how much does it cost?

  • cool guitars ive only got sg

  • have the same guitar it kicks ass!

  • i have the exact same! its pretty damn cool ;)

  • do u think that the neck of the sg faded is more diffucult to play then a finished guitar for example a les paul standard? cuz lately mine is.. im sending in to service.

  • I'm having no problems with it at all.

  • u got a great set up

especially with the mic im going to do the same in my garage!

  • Hehe, Thanks :)

My setup changed a few months after making this video though, the amp that you can see in the video has been replaced with a Marshall MG100 Halfstack.

  • What are the picks supposed to make at 0:50?

  • My initials, JV.

  • i've got a sg too, and a stagg

  • we salute you!

  • Is that a Martin acoustic on the end of the stand? It looks like the 6-string version of my 12 (X series).

  • Nope, it's a Stagg :p

  • a little difference here:P

  • hummmmmmm wut would be a better guitar epip g400 or gibson sg faded?

  • The Gibson SG.

I've played both in the same store, on the same amplifier, The Gibson beat it by a clear mile in several ways.

  • I'd been thinking of getting an sg special for quite a while now, I have seen them here in the UK for about £465, what is the difference between that and the standard SG apart from a big price difference?

  • Well, the looks for quite a large part, lol.

The headstock of the Special basically just has the Gibson logo on it, and not any of the other decals that they put on the headstocks with the 'regular' version.

they have different pickups as well, though I believe that the special and the 'regular' versions actually share the same neck pickup.

    definitely a quality guitar though.

  • Gibson all the way

  • Have you ever played a Epi G-400 SG, and if so could you compare it to the gibson special

  • I've played the Epiphone G-400 SG in the guitar store where I bought the Gibson SG Special, Played both of them on the same amplifier.

The Epiphone G-400 SG is a decent guitar, but I don't think it comes close to the sound and quality of the Gibson SG Special.

  • because it was made in china or maybe korea, but if you find an epiphone made in japan they are as good as a gibson special. i have a copy of the g-400 custom made by bumstead in germany and its closer to the elitist of epiphone than the ordinary g-400 custom. also the new jay turser are good too, better than the epiphones i tried but it need some adjustment. after its easy to find an emg81 used or a good seymour duncan, dimarzio, gibson... the big difference is the fingerboard.

  • if you have the pickup you want and search for a similar fingerboard, i found that ibanez rg220 neck, yamaha rgx312, jackson soloist and some esp are very close to the gibson sg. my favorite will always be the sg61.

  • You have faaaar too much time on your hand.

But some pretty nice guitars =)

  • it's a excelent guitar, man!

I have the same one, but, the wood (obvious) is diferent that's so cool (better than some guitars that you buy one in chine, and the other in italy and are the same (=)!!) that's nice;p

  • I have a 1083 Gibson SG standard, its pretty freakin' sweet for AC/DC!! nice guitar btw =)

  • thats my guitar i paid 580 dollors

  • Yeah, that's about the right price.

We get some import costs on it as well I guess, because they're a bit more expensive here in europe, Still a great guitar for its price though =)

  • buy it at guitar center fr like only 700 bucks and its as good or better than the standard, but worst than the custom obviously.

  • Yep, That's pretty much the price I paid for it, I wouldn't call it better than the standard, but it's definitely pretty close to the quality of an SG Standard.

  • ya, i mean like all in all the quality and stuff and value of the special is a much better deal then buying a standard

  • Love your shirt man. METALLICA!!!

  • yo thats a kool guitar i got the same just making a vid of it

    ta rok on

  • I need to find time to make a video of my current rig, this video shows my new guitar, but doesn't show my new amp (which came about 5 weeks later), a Marshall mg100hdfx halfstack.

    quick review:

pretty good amp for the styles of music that I play, it's a good rock amp, not that great for metalheads, you'd need a pedal. :p

  • very nice sg...how much u paid for that beauty?

  • something around $700.

so it's not the most expensive Gibson SG out there, but it's definitely a great quality guitar.

  • love the way that brown looks i think i might get one soon but uhh just outa curiousity does it sound and play well?

  • It plays really well, I'm used to my LP style guitar, and LP's have really thick necks, which eventually causes my wrist to hurt as I play along.

with this Gibson SG, I don't have that problem at all, it plays really comfortable, and it rocks, hard!

  • alright shweet thanks

  • Its looks so cool! Think I will upgrade to the Gibson from my old epiphone g310 - Love SG's

  • Like brown more then cherry ? - they have 2 in my local shop they look awesome but your looks finish looks smoother! are the finish a little rough on your ?

  • Yeah it's a rough finish, brown color.

The official color name is "worn brown"

  • fender the best

but my futur guitar is the gibson sg special xD

  • hehe.

I think both brands have their strong points, I wouldn't call either one of them better than the other.

Fender and Gibson are both at the top of every brand out there.

  • I agree with you. They're both great, it just depends on what style of music you play.

  • Awesome guitar considering saving for one - The song fits like a glove :D

  • faded sg worn brown finish...nice choice thats my dream guitar...dont be surprised if u wake up tomorrow morning and ur guitar is gone

  • will i live in th us and it slighty used n she plays great espaicy when i am playin it with a crate g600xl amp

  • ive got my gibson sg special worn brown n its the best i got mine for a bout 420

  • I love this SG =)

For some reason they're a lot more expensive over here though, probably just high import prices or something, cause as far as I've seen, they're expensive all over europe.

  • yeah i have the exact same guitar for 3000 euros

  • I played the Gibson SG Special Faded, and it felt identical to my Epiphone G-400 Vintage. I'm not just saying that, it really did. I bought my Epi over it to save some money, and put the left over into an amp.

The SG Standards blow both of them out of the water, though.

  • yep, Gibson SG standards blow any 'Gibson specials' or Epiphones out of the water.

I've played an Epiphone SG style guitar, which wasn't as good as the Gibson SG Special Faded in my opinion, didn't stay in tuning as well, and the overall quality wasn't as high when I inspected it.

I wouldn't trade my SG for anything in the world =)

  • My Epi SG has Grover tuners on it, that never go out of tune. The SG Special/fades I've played had the Gibson tuners, I think, which go out a lot faster.

    They're both great guitars, though.

  • hey how do you like it i just bought one havent got it yet but it looks sweet

  • I'm loving this guitar every second I play it.

  • Ya mine is the same one it looks cool I get it tomorrow

  • cool i got an epi valve junior half stack it kicks some ass

  • too bad you have a micro cube get a tube amp

  • well it's not a micro cube, it's a Roland Cube 15, (only one step above the micro cube, lol)

I'm saving up for a halfstack right now, most likely a Marshall halfstack, not sure which type i'm going to get yet.

  • haha you play classical style too thats awesome

  • I just got the same guitar in faded brown for xmas... it's just awesome! Nice video!

  • Cool, I'm about to get that guitar. Either that one or the 3-pickup version. Probably the 3 pickup version though. Btw, how do i put nickel covers on the pickups?

  • nice guitar dude

  • metallica and acdc rules check my enter dandman video pls coment!

  • nice! peace

  • cool i use to have a silvertone revolver guitar too but now i have have a les paul standard and put some nikel covers over those humbuckers andis it a good guitar?

  • The Gibson SG Special Faded has a great tone, I still have to record some footage of me playing it, since the only video i have online now has really bad audio quality.

It's a great guitar overall, lovely tone and a great feel, the rough finish really makes it look cool as well.

If i get around to recording some footage of it, i'll send it your way.
