I summited Wetterhorn in August 1974. Went up "standard" route. Uncompaghre group has walk-ups and extremely hard climbs. Precipice wall may have never been climbed, also West face of Courthouse. 14309 North is too crumbly to chance any mechanical assistance.
Wetterhorn is a wonderful peak. Love facing exposure, having to route find, and using my long limbs to scramble. 33 into the fourteeners and planning on rocking it this summer!
I've been told that that has been skied. I have been up there and that would be scary! That ramp and staircase up to the top was a lot of fun. Left my board before the rock top then came back rode the other side. nice vid
1,866 feet higher than the Swiss peak by the same name. Colorado was cheated! With so many peaks over 13,000 feet there should have been one 15-er.
