Presley - Battle with Neonatal Lupus

December 2010 My friend during a school lunch noticed my hands were red and swelling he asked if i had been doing chemistry things and didnt get off the chemicals and i said no i just washed my hands. why? he responded by asking is i had been by any chemicals i responded with a "no,why?" That was when he asked me if i had anyone in my family had autoimmune problems i said "yeah my mom the doctors dont know if she has lupus or M.S." My best friend wouldnt move his eyes from my hands.

when he wont looks at people periphally. well i told him i would get a doctor to test it so i could show him he was wrong. I should have known better. He aced Human Anatomy and Physiology pretty much. Well the test came back posittive. I was heart broken and devistated told him and he was like Iknow.. and Im sorry. So it took 18 years and a best friend to find out I had lupus from the beginning. But its cool. Because I know that people love me and understand that bcause of pain Imight be grumpy

I was born with lupus, it goes back at least 11 generations in our family. Mine didn't show on my skin, but as fever, mumps, and inflammation markers in blood tests. I'm sure Presley didn't move around much because she was in pain! Non use of muscles makes them weaker. There is a question in my mind of whether the lupus caused the cerebral palsy (yes its possible for lupus to attack the brain like every other organ and cause such diseases) instead of C.P. causing lupus. Really is heartbreaking.

Beautiful video ... a disease with few answers and this is the first video i have seen with it affecting a baby and its so honest... alot of lupus is silent, but this video speaks volumns, adults can hide or mask what is happening to them but this video speaks volumns .. Thankyou for sharing

I have lupus and know what I go through... I could not imagine watching my babies experience this. I will definitely lift her up in prayer.

Please keep her out of the sun. It can cause a flare up. I get flare ups just from floresent lights. Lupus effects have such a large range and has many cross over diseases.  I have Lupus, relapsing polychondritis, fibromyelgia, sleep apnea, ashthma, RA, crohans. Presley is blessed to have such a loving family.

my niece went through something like this when she was almost 6 years....she had hemoraging of the skin, and servere pains off and on she was diagnosed with something rare called Hennock scholien purpura which cause hemoraging of the tissue servere arthritis type pains and posible liver and kidney failure..she went through hell for about 6 months but it passed...she;s almost 10 now and shes fine

I am just curious having Lupus myself (I am 28) and had a child last year who did not get neo-natal lupus thank God. I will pray for your family, keep the faith, with God all things are possible!

You said a few times about doctors not giving you answers as to why this is happening... Please read EVERYTHING you can get your hands on about Lupus and exactly what it does to the body... Presley is an amazing little girl, I hope that she will be able to live a progressively for comfortable life, she definitely deserves it already after all this.

You're living what was my biggest fear after diagnosis 9 yrs ago now. I have SLE & Sjogren's in the mod- to severe stages; hwr, I'm thankful it's me & not my 2 girls though they aren't out of the woods. AI's run on both sides of my family. I'll keep all of your family & esp Presley in my thoughts & prayers in hopes for a cure or that she goes into remission; at least then she could enjoy her childhood. This is a travesty of life & esp on the heart of lupus sufferers. A cure is long overdo..

quite a hard hitting video here, your little girls had quite a tough start in life, towards the end of your video you mention that god has a plan for your girl, i am not at all religious but if i was i would be cursing god if he inflicted such a condition on my baby girl....

my g/f has lupus, raynaulds and antiphospholipid shes had two strokes and suffers alot of weird symptoms that mimic other conditions...heart goes out to all your family coping with your daughters condition :):):)

I to have lupus. im a 18year old male. But i got it mildly. Havent had a flareup since i got the disease in 2002. + im using a medicine called mabthera.. Really effective on the disease. Your daughter is beautiful. I also have Lupus and was not diagnosed until 11-26-2008 after Several years of pain and suffering.

One thing I have noticed with myself and am not sure that you know, is that sunlight(UVA) makes Lupus flair ( I will get Severe sun posioning).
