get a simple usb interface that has phantom power, you'll need that to power this mic. this mic is good for vocals and electric guitar amps, but i also recommend you get a shure sm57 for your acoustic guitars and electric as well. get a mackie vlz mixer, they are priced pretty low and have very high quality pre amps for each channel. i taught myself the basics, now im learning from the pros. ask around, and meet people who already own a studio and ask them for help. peace.

The ART MP is available at musiciansfriend for around 29.00 USD, and is a tube preamp featuring a 12AX7-A tube. This mic is my primary vocal studio mic, and i love it. The ART MP has a 48V phantom power switch, which this powered condenser mic needs in order to operate. Hope this helps!

I have an MXL 770 which I think is better, used to have a Rode Nt1-a but I sold that shit because my boy said the M audio Nova sounds just like it but less harsh on the mid highs for $100... So i saved $100 by selling it for $200 and ordering that just waiting for it to come in.
