  • Watching this, you see how much she enjoyed a good verbal punch up. I almost feel sorry for Dennis that he lived with this for so many years. And you know everyone watching this is regretting that this is the last time they will ever see anything this good.

  • Maggie your the best

  • lol at the berk reference. I think his party should all resign for not having a scottish independence referrendum.

  • It's nice to see that Scotish berk Jim Sillars chuckling away (6.49) as he gets out argued and unsurprisingly outwitted by the Prime Minister. Scotland; - beware your liberal socialist appetite, too much will cast you into irrecoverable levels of poverty & despair.

Incidentally berk is an abbreviation of Berkshire Hunt and it's cockney rhyming slang for people like Jim Sillars. He sure seems to me to be a bit of a ‘Berkshire Hunt.’

  • My beloved homeland,the USA,could certainly use a Margaret Thatcher today.Instead,we have a Dennis Skinner....minus the charisma.

  • Hy I'm from Québec! I think no matter what is your political ideology, this women was unbelievable and I think we should have more politicians like that!

  • than you for all you did for our country x

  • There will NEVER be a better PM.

  • now here's a leader who didn't take any crap. The best leaders make decisions that are unpopular but right

  • maggie thatcher and the tories are nothing more than snobby elitests who had a talent for spinning the truth. Her policies did nothing but deepen the pockets of the wealthiest and supress the poorest. she was hated then, is hated now, and shall be hated forever more. I wish the IRA had got her when they tried

  • @MegaHung69 Do you realise what you are saying? You wish that an unelected terror group suceeded in murdering a democratically elected government?

I wish that all the Irish immigrants that live in the UK would return to Ireland, but i wish them no harm. Why is it that Irish people come to England and preach hate against the English? Why not take their patriotism back to Ireland?

  • @MegaHung69 Ur sad and delutional? Mrs Thatcher was the greatest woman that ever came our way? she stuck to her views and was proved right everytime! get a grip mate dont be manipulated by the communist agenda!

  • @olddonno1 yeh cus poll tax worked, monetarism worked joining the ERM payed off. no i dont think so. your most beloved thatcher failed numerous times!

  • @guitardude05

ar you serious? She overall had the greatest economic policies ever, she brought the country back from the brink of going under...

  • @403766 no she was very lucky with her economic polices, unemployment rose, interest was high, she only survived due to north sea oil and other privatisations bringing cash in. poll tax, pretty successful economic policy, i think not. cost 1billion of taxpayers money and lsted about a year. joining the erm was also not successful leading to financial collapse in 1992 (not under thatcher but due to her economic policies). run out of space but could go on for days.

  • @guitardude05

i higly disagree, unemployment rose due to her getting rid of extremely out-dated inefficent companies which were loosing moneya nd striking all the time, which wer eliterlaly the least eficient int he world and compeltely wasting our resources, without the selling of them britain woudl be no-where near as competitive internationally, many workers just slept on night shifts(story from a miner) she stood up to the trade unions like no1 else wud dare, whcih were a huge factor in

  • @guitardude05

driving away forgien investment which in turn ment less job opportunities, thatcher created 2 million + new jobs avalable, in areas which werent preventing the country from declining as a super-power. The main reason greece is fucke dis due to too strong trade-unions with early retirement and too large social benefits

Interest was high to STOP inflation rising too and consider she pretty much halved it rather quickly.

  • @guitardude05

she was spot on with the e.u, all they do is scrub off us, she even mangaged to get our bloody money back.

I wud not say that joining the erm caused the recession atall, but was just a bad choice at trying to recover from it,.

I think your forgetting tha everyone fucks up, and in case u havnt noticed labour are alwyas worse but now i ahve studied economics i have to say thatcher was the best we've eve rhad and disagree with the first part of what you said..

  • @403766 i see your points, having studied thatcher. its your personal view though, yeh she was successful with trade unions (although she destroyed areas of britain that have never recovered) for those in work thatcher was good as she kept inflation low but those not in work struggled massively as thacther had no belief in society, its how you view the policys. eec rebate was good, she only went against eec towards end of career when delors made it more federal

  • that scottish MP was a fucking idiot he wants too give up trident just like the dangrous clegg thank God the tories will keep us save and protact our nukes weather they like it or not they are part of the UK and we need them in order too protact the whole term future of this country thatcher was one of the stongest leaders this country has ever seen she stood up for the country

  • Mrs T was scarily accurate about the election win in 1992 and Labours policy of making shit loads of money on tax and other charges but giving fuck all back to the people. Roll on May 6th.

  • isn't the little red-head in the over-size, garishly-clashing magenta jacket the Blears? Was she already around then?

  • I can see at least three female Labour front benchers at the start of this clip. I know it's hard to see, but who are they?

  • im not too sure im guessing one of them is margaret becket

  • Beckett's a woman?!

  • @thatcheritescot I cant tell but that also look's like a young Harman

  • @ceredigio i think its wrong to compare all female politicians to Margaret Thatcher. Its as stupid as comparing all male politicains to Churchill.

  • @ceredigio Shadow cabinet of 1990 included Margaret Beckett (treasury), Jo Richardson (women), Joan Lestor (children) and Ann Clwyd (international development)

  • Jesus she was he best thing to ever happen to this country- i hope i see her like again in my lifetime!

  • i will second that!

  • Who is asking the question between 5:20 and 6:30?

  • his name is jim sillars. an snp mp

  • I wish her all the best and hope she gets better soon. God Bless Mrs. Thatcher!

  • im sure she will b fighting fit soon.

  • Even as I hated Thatcher at the time, in hindsight she is magnificent.

My positive comment does nothing to mitigate her often-vicious social policies but on economics, constitutional matters, Europe and sheer downright eloquence, she sets a standard against which all subsequent leaders must be judged.

The social divisions of the the Thatcher era were bitter and malevolent, but the economic after-effects echo even today.

I am not a natural Tory but more like this please.

  • i agree a woman PM makes a better politician

  • Ugh, that Simon Hughes is a sanctimonious twat, Maggie quite rightfully put him in his place very swiftly!

  • simon hughes is no match for thatcher..... its no wonder hes a lib dem

  • Both are correct. Hughes' point is valid in that income gaps are dangerous because disparity causes exploitation of the poor, but Thatcher is right in that the UK had not and will not reach the level at which the income gap is dangerous. The US has hit that level and look what it's like there. The Liberal Democrats are in fact the best mix of Thatcher-esque economics and social progressivism.

  • I agree, and that is why I vote LibDem.

Thatcher went too far her way, and Labour have now gone too far there. Unfortunately, seeing as we live in a two-party system, we have David Cameron and his ill-timed spending cuts to look forward to.

  • lol. u vote lib dem? why exactly? what is their big idea? they have the cheek to call themselfs liberal.... they are prob the least liberal of all the partys..... oh and dont forget that thatcher was a true liberal in that her policys impowered the individual and as a result she introduced lots of liberal laws. the lib dems are a joke and so is their leader... chris hunme would have been much better

  • I agree, Chris Hunme would have been better than Nick Clegg and Vince Cable would have been better still.

You joke about their "big idea" and yet A LOT of Lib Dem ideas - particularly from VC on financial regulation - have been poached by Tories and Labour alike. I also agree with the Lib Dem standpoints on green technologies, CSR and the EU.

Finally, as I said, I vote for Lib Dem because I do not support Labour in its current form and CANNOT vote for what the Conservatives are

  • suggesting now. Whilst I recognise that public spending DOES need to be cut, I believe now is simply TOO SOON.

The economy is still in a very fragile state, and unemployment in the private sector is still rising. The last thing that we need now is public sector cuts which in turn will lead to public sector unemployment, which will then lead to higher overall unemployment rates and we would run the very real risk going back into recession.

It is simply too much, too soon.

  • im afraid that the problem is so bad that yes serious public service cuts will b needed. the fact is we have to have the money to spend the money. borrowing money to keep jobs is all very well and good. but there will come a tipping point. i believe that point was reached at least 2 years ago

  • I agree with you on your first point -however I strongly believe that now is not the time to impliment the savage cuts that Osborne is suggesting.

Yes, cuts need to be made, but I believe this needs to be done when the economy is more stable, and in a gradual way, which removes waste and preserves jobs (eg in the NHS, I would much rather cut the "Ward Art" funding than loose a single nurse/doctor) . Osborne's proposals to cut spending "to the bone" will not do that.

  • but that is what labour have created over their time in office. they have spent spent spent. that was fine while the going was good. the fact is that if spening is not seriously cut then all of our children will have to pay the debt for years to come. labour are trying to do exactly what u propose.... that is not working. i dont want to b out of a job as much as anyone else.... but i dont expect to have my job subsidised by the govt so why should public services b any different!

  • Labour aren't trying to do that in the slightest. If you look at the figures, public spending has INCREASED in the past three months.

And public sector jobs are not "subsidised" by the Government, the State is their employer. One difference I will argue with you is that certain frontline Public Sector jobs, such as Nurses, Doctors and Teachers are ESSENTIAL to this country & I 100% believe that these jobs SHOULD BE PROTECTED ABOVE ALL ELSE, & the cuts should takle beaurucratic waste instead

  • labour are cutting spending. yes less than the torys but cutting none the less. just look at what they have spent over the last 10 years. that is now not possible! that means its a cut. or in gordon browns own words... a zero percent rise over the next few years followed by cuts! u cant dress that up any other way. cuts are needed!

  • And as I keep stessing, I agree with you that cuts are needed. What I am disagreeing with you about is when these cuts should come and how severe they should be.

Brown is proposing a gradual cut, Obsorne would start them as soon as the Conservatives are elected into Government.

That, I feel, would be too much, too soon. Yes, I agree cuts need to be made, but, as I keep stating, I think this needs to be done in a way that limits the threat to jobs.

  • a gradual cut is not going to work because of the shit we r in.... i dont want anyone to lose their jobs and as for health and education im sure the torys wont b too harsh.... but a lot of services will have to b cut and its not going to b pretty.... had labour not spent so much over their time things could b easier now. but they did not.... i have been poor and lived off very little.... im afraid the uk now has to do exactly that

  • she's too great

  • fantastic lady i always believe a woman PM makes a better leader
