  • Got to train with this guy. One of the nicest, most devoted guys in Powerlifting.

  • hands down one of the most hardcore shit i ever watch bar none

  • i seen the same article and had to check it out. amazing!

  • i could do that on 1 foot

  • @mrlatino187 I think he's carrying the bar high, so high-bar

  • @deumcole

Thats Low bar posittion, many ppl have their low bar's too low what hits to their deph/performance. Trie switching to false grip hand position like Kroc does and u'll see.

  • F'ing AMAZING. Heavy ass weight and great form/depth.

My only question is why waste time re-racking, taking collars off, etc.. They should have left the collars off and as soon as he hit 8 with 500, they come in remove the plates with the bar still on his back, then he goes right into the 405 set, etc.. Racking it, waiting for the collars to go on, and then de-racking again seems like a waste of time/energy. Still though, one of the most impressive squat feats I have ever seen.

  • @rdeffleymoviesnew Safety. Pulling the weight off sounds simple but you could destabilise the bar if one comes off before the other etc. and seriously tweak your stabilisers / muscles / lose the weight off your back and hurt someone

Play it safe (not that this is particularly safe obviously :-D)

And for everyone who works on just beach muscles, take note. The squat rack is for squatting. The bench is for sitting on after you have squatted to be sick from the squatting!

  • Esto es el infierno!

  • Strength personified.

  • fucking hulk

  • In case someone else hasn't already said it, in those famous words from that other guy, "Light Weight!"

    'job Mat!

  • Squats Rock! Got me all pumped just watching this!

  • lol they have a vomit box in their gym

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome. Honestly, Kroc doesn'even really seem to strain that much. I know it had to be hard but he makes it look easy. Great video sir.

  • I cant really tell but is he doing low bar squats or high bar squats?

  • YEAH BUDDAY

  • Just read about this in Muscle&Fitness Magazine.

    Crazy shit, but respect!

  • I read about this on muscle and fitness mag! I had to check i out!!!!!! Good job man !

  • heaviest 135 squat ever eh?

  • Ministry "jst one fix" ! I Dead to these trax! Ol'scholl!

  • NICE!!! i just did same thing today-took me 2:20sec..but..i didnt have to walk it out-used smith machine..was hardest thing i've ever done!

check it out on my channel: mindisj0

  • he may be a powerlifter but his squats have DEPTH unlike others. i like that

  • Not sure but song sounded like Just One Fix by Ministry

  • Again ended up here after reading about this in M&F had to see it for real. Truly a testament to bodybuilding/powerlifting.

  • @Bigtips26 same here man

  • I also came here after reading the article in m&f. Impressive seeing someone squat so many times, back to back.

  • I come here after reading about this concrete exercise in the M&F mag.

    Man, this is inhuman O_O

  • @GabrielKnight636 yeah so do i, i jus read the same article also about that 300lb dumbell crazy stuff!

  • Comment removed

  • is it Matt Kroczaleski?

  • This activity is nothing to do with cardio! This is all out anerobic activity. The fittest man in the world with get the same oxygen debt if he engaged in maximum strength expenditure like this. Not that he'd be lifting this weight!!

  • Whats the song in the background?

  • This dude is an animal! badass stuff man

  • I can only go 365 for 8 WITH wraps. Anyone who can rep out 405+ without wraps all the way down is not only crazy, but amazing.

  • This video is awesome.

  • This is unbelievable. Keep videos like this coming, cuz this shit is my inspiration.

  • Beast

  • im sure he cant run as far as most people but it takes a different type of cardio to do what he does. have you ever done 40 reps of heavy squats with perfect form i dont think so

  • Matt Kroc is my number one inspiration when it comes to my training goals.

  • Polak potrafi :D

  • What's the song in the background??

  • He is a BEAST!!!!

  • I love that his buddies are just laughing at the end while he's puking hahahhahaha

  • Fuck nothing worse then throwing up after a High intesity Work out

  • jesus christ

  • that was amazing kroc im even more inspired to work out after seeing that

  • inspiration!!! fuckin dropkicked me out the window

  • Squatting to Hell! Kroc your a Monster!

  • Do this workout, then comment on this video, it sucks

  • it's funny that you say that man. Plan is to do this workout next squat day I have. I'm excited. It looks absolutely sick.

  • @cyberkai99 definetly have someone spot you, take the strip the weights, and watch the lower back :P

  • one word: Craaaaaaaazy!

  • In the heavy weightlifting world, is it customary to not squat deeper than thighs parallell?

  • @Jouwl

He's fucking burying it you moron.

  • @WABWSM

He's never deeper than thighs parallell. A full squat is deeper than that, just saying.

Also it was a question, I wasn't complaining about his form, so don't be rude.

  • @Jouwl When you're squatting 500 that deep for just a single rep, let us know.

  • @bphillyx

Congratulations on missing the point completely just like the average youtube idiot would.

    Good job!

  • @Jouwl What's the point then? You're jealous of someone that you won't ever be nearly as strong as? He squatted 1,003 at the UPA Nationals and his total ended up being 2,551 at 220. He can quarter squat for all I care.

  • @bphillyx

The point was finding out if there was a special squat depth for the weightlifting scene, since there is no question that this guy and most other people like him I see squats until their thighs are parallell to the ground. I'm not saying this is wrong for any reason, I'm asking if it's a standard in the weightlifting world. A 'normal' squat is a sitting position mind you, chinese, japanese and indigenous people can use it whereas westerns are too inflexible due to their lifestyle.

  • @Jouwl ...His thighs are more than parallel though, the crease at the hip being in line with the kneecap is considered parallel. He's going about as deep as he can go, his thighs are touching his chest at the bottom of his squat. You can't tell if he's lacking flexibility, you can't see his back to see if it's rounding or not

  • @Jouwl What can you say.....youtube idiots rule the interweb apparently!

A legal powerlifting squat is one that breaks parallel. Depending on the federation, the definition of which bit must be parallel to what differs, but most require the thigh to be parallel to the ground for it to be a legal squat. You are indeed right that Olympic style squatting requires deeper squats (and the bar is carried higher on the back/traps). Anything less than parallel is just a bit gay ;-D

    Hope that helps!

  • @pisswizzard

    Thank you!

    :)

  • @Jouwl

More than welcome! I'd rather spread information about my sport (not that I'm any good at it!) than call you an arse for no apparent reason :-)

One extra - the other difference is often the stance. Kroc here is using a fairly narrow stance which brings the quads into play. You'll see squatters with very wide stances in powerlifting...this shortens the distance to travel and involves the posterior chain and adductors much more (try it getting up from a chair)

  • incredible!

  • You are Jesus Christ in the flesh, big fan. Absolutely phenomenal. I can't even comprehend that there are people so idiotic as to criticize you/talk shit on your videos. Do they not know who you are...? Absolute fucking goons.

You are a role-model and an inspiration to thousands, keep up the ridiculously hard work and dedication. I know you will though, that goes without saying. Cos you're fucking matt kroc.

  • its good but not what i was expecting 25 sec rest then a 20 just call it 5 fast sets really...

  • @arniemonkey

it technically is a giant set cause 20sec is just enough time to build back up enough ATP to get through the next set, called a pause set or a rest pause set heard it said both ways, trust me the 20sec is not a very long time to be resting especially with that kind of weight

  • @arniemonkey you can always tell the people that have never picked up a heavy weight in their life.

  • @therabidliger are u refering to me then....coz id check out my vids b4 u do

  • You know you have made it to the big time... when losers start making fun of you on the internet.

    Amazing Kroc.

    Good luck bodybuilding.

  • @dylanesc too true

  • lol the bar is bent :P

  • I really can't think of any other word to call this man other than BEAST.

  • dang thats crazy

  • MInistry kicks ass one of the best tunes for lifting

  • Bathory, Venom, Hammerfall are much better. power/epic metal shit is so god tier for lifting

  • i applaud the attempt of faggots on youtube trying to hate on this guy his strength is far beyond yours, you're all just jealous and even more stupid when these guys have a website/training tips etc.. to help you get strong as well and you still hate!! haters deserve to be weak and death to them all

  • @yasinpatel12345 One might think you've spoken of natzis =P

  • That is insane!

  • Matt is also known for being ONE LEAN ASS POWERLIFTER! The dude is probably 5-7% bodyfat you fuckin idiot

  • more like 9-11% but yeah he is a lean and strong ass guy

  • look up pictures of him, he's a huge and lean motherfucker. Idiot.

  • @wojtek0000 lololol

  • You tell'em! You probably know so much more than him. He only has the record for the 220 weight class and everything. He must be a joke.

  • He did this as a mental test he doesn't do this all the time.

  • Also i think he knows what hes doing he has the world record for 220

  • attention keyboard critic. he is matt krocalezski. you are not. that is all. (google him since i dont think you have a fucking clue what youre talking about)

  • by the way. if youre gunna criticize anyone for being dumb. im from canada, not america. fucking dipshit

  • this is matt kroczaleski, professional powerlifter, sponsored by muscletech, one of the biggest baddest dudes on the planet. and you areeee? if youre gunna say you "pwnd" someone on the internet...come up with a better argument then the absence of apostrophes in their typing...thanks for playin tho

  • ROFLMAO!!!

  • @wojtek0000 Your a fucking idiot. The dude holds the all time record at 220. Lets see you squat anywhere near this. Your a youtube posing douchbag.

  • @wojtek0000 hahaha let me guess, you are a personal trainer at 24 hr fitness??? Kroc is a world record holder, what are you?

  • Great work! That is one impressive drop set! Hope you are well above that now since this video is almost three years old. Keep up the good work and keep lifting strong brotha!

  • i did that one time in high school and was doing good until my left knee gave out, know when i squat my knee pops

  • BADASS!

  • Hardcore, Kroc !!!

    SQUAT TILL YOU PUKE :D

  • amazing

  • Thats awesome! The pump in his quads must have been ridiculous. I've always wanted to try drop sets on squats, but you really do need two partners.

  • Hahahha amazing job man!!! I did bodyweight deadlifts for as many reps as I could get. I got to about 45 and felt like pukin. Great job!!!! This seems a lot worse lol.

  • just because he lifts heavy does not indicate he has poor cardio vascular fitness. Not all strength athletes and powerlifters are overweight and un-conditioned. Kroc's done 30 rep pull ups at a massive bodyweight. Im sure he's more physically fit than you sailor boy.

  • @midwestboxer To add to your statement, Matt is indeed in excellent shape for a power lifter. Check out the article in the March 2011 issue of Muscle & Fitness to prove that point for anyone that would say otherwise. Matt is a beast in an elite class. I'm envious of his dedication to what he does. I wish I had that kind of willpower and dedication.

  • @midwestboxer couldn't agree more - anyone who does high intensity lifting knows, from experience, the huge jump in heart rate after just 1 set of stuff like this

  • jdf1972: you also don't hold the 220 lb world powerlifting record.

  • Really? You are a complete idiot. I hold numerous state and one national power lifting record, yet my BF% is 14.07% via DEXA, and I do sprint as well as hard tempo runs. BTW...I am also 38 and weigh 290. Think you still know everything hot shot? Once you have an elementary background on A&P, you can come back and apologize.

  • You really want to go there? Let's talk about specialized training then. I bet a simple workout like a crossfit would skull fuck you. Don't give me the armed forces shit...I respect them, but their training isn't all bad ass like people think it is. People have survived a lot worse in the congo than seal training

  • 14% bodyfat is NOT high. that sir is absolute bullshit. dont talk out your ass to prove a point

  • @jdf1972 he's Matt K, you're nobody sailer boy, go back to whore island, there's where you belong.

  • @jdf1972 Fun fact of the day, Matt's an ex-marine, and was allowed to exceed the weight by height limit due to being a fantastic distance runner and of exceedingly low bodyfat.

  • @jdf1972 you are a piece of shit, and an embarrassment to the Navy. If you had ever done anything hard in your life, you wouldn't hate on people like that. Fuck off.

  • @jdf1972 14% BF is not high. I was in the Navy and i know a couple seals who are over 14% and they can PT just fine. You are an idiot.

  • @jdf1972

YOU ARE THE BIGGEST FAGGOT ON THE PLANET! DO US A FAVOR AND GO FUCK YOUR BRAINS OUT UNTIL YOU DIE...

  • @jdf1972 Show me the bodies. Sure, the 300+ superheavies have heart problems, but louie simmions is in his 60s, dr squat is god knows how old.

  • best form i have seen on youtube so far!! wish i could do that some day. i am still working to get to 225

  • holy shit you one badass dude. nice job man

  • no one gives a fuck or ever will.

  • your crazy matt

  • badass as fuck

  • Good choice on the mop bucket, I'll have to remember that next time I have a party

  • lol dry heave

  • hardcore

  • Props dude.

  • im gettin sore just watching that

  • I just hit my 315x8 for 3 sets and I saw this and got depressed, LOL great video man

  • LOL! shit happens

  • wow this is the most hardcore lift video on youtube

  • if i could do that i wouldnt give a shit how i look so stop hating on him this guys the fuckin man with good form and huge ass weight

  • Please look up "The Form Police" on the Rosstraining blog. Take what ti says very seriously.

  • man, are you fucking serious?

  • You are bigger, stronger and meaner than I am.

Keep up the hard sets mate.

  • Damn, I've seen thousands of squat videos on YT, but this tops it all. Great form, incredible intensity, heavy weights. It's got it all!

  • I don't know what video YOUR watching but Matt is a POWERLIFTER it's about strength not physique. and Matt has an INCREDIBLE physique for man his size! tree trunk legs, mountain like back, huge bi's,tri's and forearms, a round full chest, massive shoulders, need I go on?

  • Dude just shut up, cause you dont know what you are talkign about. All this dude has to do is cut out and he will look just as good as a bodybuilder. Just go look at his other videos.

  • You're not getting any girls now so quit being stubborn and try something else.

  • thats how you squat. ALL THE WAY DOWN!!! nice to see people still do it. and look his legs arent toothpicks. not like people who load up the bar and do half squats and waste their time.

  • I would be puking my guts out.

  • savage stuff my man.

really good form, the way it should be done.

i havent tried 40 rep squats before but i am a big fan of 20 rep squats

current PB is 20 rep squat @ 90kg so 200lbs

    not great but getting there

  • DAMN! I'm impressed

  • Wow,inspirational and scary all in the same video!

  • daaaamn

  • every time I go to do squat workouts I watch this vid and it fires me UP!!! by the way anyone know the song in the background?

  • Ministry - Just One Fix

  • thank brah!!!

  • good shit man

  • the squat workout from hell!

  • Possible the most hardcore vid on youtube

  • respect

  • Wow! My best squat is 44 reps with 225lbs (185lb bodyweight at 5' 10") and that was so hard it became an out of body experience! But I want 50 reps so eventually I'll give it another go. Definitely not a regular routine though.

  • right there. that guy followed directions... SQUAT TILL YOU PUKE.

  • Apart from the oscar-performance in the end, quite good. :):):) Better than 99% percent of the lifters. :)

  • That man is the definition of dedication.

  • Sorry should read 225x25 for DB rows.

  • gwionjones2002 Doesn't Matt deadlift in the high 700s? If so, that doesn't sound like a lifter with much of a postural imbalance to me. Plus, look how far he sits back in the squat. No problem with hammies or lower back strength there, me thinks. Anyone who can bang out DB rows for 255x25 probably has all the lumbar and thoracic strength they'll ever need. How about you post a video of your squat technique, not max, just a 10RM and we'll learn from your technique??

  • Whilst he is using the belt, he disengages his pelvic floor. Now his hip flexors will be relatively VERY strong to his pelvic floor. They will 'rob' the neuromuscular signals sent to his pelvic floor to contract as his hip flexors are crying out for more muscle fibres to contract. Now this is why weightlifters who use belts may prolapse-increasing the intra-abdominal pressure with a weak pelvic floor means that the pressure will is not able to be kept inside.

  • I don't think increasing intra-abdominal pressure disengages his pelvic floor. He's probably not going very tight anyway. If I can't regulate my inside pressure, I just blow it out my gym shorts, and hope nobody is behind me.

  • I am pretty sure its at a poitn where it does not matter, the dude is dead

  • for gwionjones2002: shut the fukc up you sound like a chiropractor studying Janda you dont know shit.

  • what an awesome job, every squat had perfect form and u went well below parallel. and way to tough it out at the end.

it pisses me off hiw many people post vids of them squating all this weight but only go down like 4 inches and they actually think they are squating.

    U ARE A BEAST

  • i wish I could do 40 with the bar; good job :)

  • omg

  • very strong, how long do you train?

  • So yeah I did this the other day. Difference is being a mere mortal I started at 255 and worked down to 135. But holy hell it hurt so bad. A couple of guys I know walked in the gym when I was on my last 8 reps. They all came over and looked at me funny when I hit the floor moaning after squatting 135, haha.

  • what a fucking BEAST!!!!!!!!!!
