In my opinion, the best way to learn about Catholicism is by studying credible historic records, papal declarations and then compare that to the teaching of Jesus Christ as documented in the first four gospels of The New Testament. After that, draw your own conclusions.

Thanks..IF you look at the Council of Nicea, Constantine knew the only way to preserve atleast a portion of the Roman Empire was to embrace then hijack the Scriptures and Christianity itself. St. Francis of Assisi was said to have gotten so angry at a proponent of this, he literally "punched" his oppent's light's out then left. Scripture that would have NOT have supported the Papacy, Mary-ocracy, and Catholicism being "THE CHURCH" were hidden and punishable by death to disclose for 1000 yrs.

For anyone to continue to believe in a personal god after studying the inquisition is truly brainwashed to the point of no return.

This personal god, created by man in man`s own image, is the result of man`s fear of the unknown especially the fear of death without an afterlife.

The baggage man added to this personal god also enabled him to have complete control over the masses of brainwashed believers ie, heaven, hell, satan, original sin, the second coming etc.

Very well said. As an atheist I believe that no personal God exists- but a creator of the universe is possible, as anything is. But the truth is that nobody knows "God" yet, which explains the many thousands of faiths man has invented out of thin air over the course of his history. Religions continue to pretend to know what nobody can know about God. Atheism is simply honesty with oneself- to not cherry pick the facts, a willingness to face reality as it really is.

Exactly. All of the ideas associated with a personal God are indeed man's creations. Man's early "guess" (belief) that he was at the center and the beginning of the universe- a prideful, self-centered view of reality that a religious view subscribes to. Or for example- the afterlife. Nothing more than a merging of a realization of one's mortality, and then, ironically, greed. Eternal hope? It sounds innocent but actually renders our one and only true life nearly meaningless, and without purpose.

What's exactly bias about religion and it's totalitarian-like ruling of the dark ages? Just look at history. It was the scientific revolution that lead us away from the darkness of religion and the fear of the unknown, and into the light of reality and discovery. Personally I'd rather say I don't know than to just accept any junk answer, such as "God did it." Blaming magic doesn't get anybody nowhere.
