Sim pilots are more talented than real ones, because it's harder to fly sim. A real plane has much more accurate steering sense or however it's said in english.
Interesting actually, when I was a child I was able to land with every plane perfectly (FSX). Nowdays as a GLD, CPL I do crash everything.. ;) No bad video for a viewer, but bad for the gear ;) God bless flying
heres the thing. we are not questioning your piloting ability. we clicked for a video of a real plane, not a sim. regardless of your ability, the title is misleading. With all respect, i suggest adding Flight simulator to your title
@modeltrain9500 Look, do you have nothing better to do than post comments like this? This is one old video - I dont use flight sim anymore. Im not going to change the title because i dont see the point in wasting my time on this old video. Im sorry that youve been stupid enough to see the video tile picture and think its real, but if you dont like it, move on to another video! Simple as. Ive moved on from stuff like this, so dont get so hung up on it, surely you have better things to be doing?
@shaun17304 People post up their flight sim videos to show other's their progress in flying. Not everyone you know can afford real flight lessons so this is an alternative and actually im a real student pilot and soloed with 28 hours but before that I originally started with simulators so dont say that real pilots dont search for this shit because many do, Just because you may not like it and dont find it helpful doesn't matter because in actuality there a million other pilots out there who do.
@shaun17304 When you have addons and Tweaked Realism setting, it's VERY similar to the real thing. Put my dad on the sim and he has 16000 hours of flight time.
@liamtnelson No. Look at the text overlay on the vid, the info, his rudder and aileron inputs - yes, he's also crabbing, but he's also sidesliping to lose altitude while maintaining airspeed.
@liamtnelson Well, in the UK, we call it a sideslip. And as the uploader is from the UK, he's right. We don't call them forward slips in the UK either. So it's a difference of definition - but even so, what annoyed me at the start was the fact that never mind the definitions you were still wrong (saying that this manoeuvre was not the one executed by the gimli glider,) although I apologise for seeing snappy .
@liamtnelson No. A sideslip is the one meant to lose altitude without increasing airspeed. Take a look at the text overlay in the video and the info, he clearly states what he's doing, and you can see by his rudder and aileron inputs that it's a "gimli glider" sideslip. A "forward slip" does not exist. What you do for crosswind landings is "crabbing", and yes, he's doing that here too. Believe me, I'm a private pilot, they do teach us this stuff. So yes, exactly like the gimli glider, hehe.
@JKAJENKO I always found sideslips easier (and more exciting) than straight in landings, much to the annoyance of the instructor I flew with after my old one left the school. That said, one of the first things my previous instructor taught me was how to fly center-line 5' above the runway while crabbing... we were hooligans most of the time. :D
I started practising Side Slips because of the Air Crash Investigation i saw on the Gimli Glider a few weeks back! I found it amazing that it was still in service at the beginning of this year! Thank you :)
@Criscocheeseman200 You're landing crooked. That is really hard on the landing gears (and the trickiest part of landing) right before touchdown kick out the crab and bank into the wind. in high winds try and put the wheel in the wind down first. Happy landings :)
@the1bigace Haha yeah I havent watched this video for ages. I fly the C152 in real life now, so landing in crosswinds is something I've got pretty used to. Always feels good when you get it perfectly level on the main gear :)
