I don't know.......it's a "limited edition" but they are not saying "how" limited.
Good question. I don't thinbk they ever announced how many were being made. All the online sellers have them so they don't seem to be in short supply.

And Michael Volzts is the reason why today Epiphone is once again a great guitar company. Its because or Mike Volzts we can now say that the Epiphone G-400 standard 62 Sg And The Epiphone limited Edition 50th Anniversary 1961 Sg and many more are top Professional quality today and Every bit Gibson Equal and even better I praise you Mike Voltzs again for making Epiphone great once again!
Studio1087 Mike Volzts was one of Gibsons top Luthiers for over 18 years. He left Gibson and joined Epiphone in 2001. He's Responsible for training the Chineese Luthiers in China.
@EPI6fingers I have to agree. I traded my 2008 SG 400 for the 61 sg Special. Lots of nice details on these and the action is fantastic. More impressive quality wise than many Gibson SG's I tried. The 61 reissue in TV yellow won't be around long in this true to original spec version. The cream color neck binding, vintage tuners, TV yellow and superb playability sold me. Also the cool gig bag was a nice touch.
Studio1087 well my guitar brother i was only 70 minuts away from were he played compared to over a 1000 miles were you live. You did miss somthing very special. Alot of times his shows were 3 houres long and he would tell story's behind the song.
Studio1087 i use to go see les play every monday night in new york. Its only a 70 minut drive from were i lived in New jersey. Last time i saw him live was in 2007. Was great he played a Epiphone custom Les paul. Simply amazing man. Merry christmas!
@EPI6fingers One of the greatest regrets of my life was not traveling across Manhattan to see Les when he played at the Iridium. I had worked a trade show from Friday through Monday and we had a 5 AM flight home on Tuesday. I was tempted to get in a cab and go to the show Monday night and went to bed instead. I thought I could go see him some other time. He passed away a year later. I kick myself every time that I think about it. I wish that I could have seen him play.
Studio1070. Gibson players atleast most of them dont even know that it was Epiphone with Les paul that invented the very first Electric sold body guitar back in 1931. Every Electric guitar player needs to thank them every day.
Was it 1931? Les was born in 1915 so he was 16 years old in 31. I have the greatest respect for Les. I attended his public funeral at Discovery World in Milwaukee, said a prayer at the foot of his casket and I have one of his funeral cards framed in my music room. I live near Waukesha WI where Les grew up. Les is a home town hero around here. I think that Les started work on the famous "Log" in the Epiphone building around 1940 when he was 25 but I could be wrong.
I have two of them. They feel/sound and play much better than the Gibson Models thats a Fact. I read a few nights ago on the Internet that vintage guitar collectors love these Epi's and prefer them over the Gibson Models. Its not hard to see why!
Todays Epiphones are the very best in Craftmanship and Quality this is now a known Fact. The only down fall with Epiphone is there guitars are way under priced for the top quality they deliver today.

Damn thing sounds pretty good. I looked at some different SG's the other day and they seemed really too light for my taste but damn if they don't sound great.

Studio yes sir les was only 16 at that time and it was 1931. When i think of true guitar genius its Les paul-Edward Van halen and Jimi hendrix.

Thanks. I would guess that's a pound and a half lighter than my SG Standard. This is a light guitar.
