The British courts are set up along the lines of Christians values, they were set up 100's of years ago by very religious men, why do you think the accused are asked to swear on a Bible? Bible is hardly a secular book. British law was created round Biblical values (both the old Testement(Torah) and the new testement (but nothing to do with the Babylonian Talmud.).

The laws are not "christian" in nature.. like I said, the issue arises when people look to the "bible" or religion to quantify morality. @vortigern5 Common law in Britaion is mostly of later Saxon and Jute origin (after 1066 the 'common laws' were altered again by William) but yes some Celtic traditions remain, thats all they are now. Legal 'law' holds a higher position than common law here anyway, common law wont get you very far in a court, a trip down the steps maybe if you used it as a defence argument.
