I tried this but it didn't save any of the settings & my computer didn't say the network cable was unplugged nor did it make my wifi secure...I have a WBR 1310. Am I doing something wrong?
@sw8pokpok I got mine working. Reset the router. That little hole/button in the back of the router. Hold it down for 10 seconds. It clears the admin password, etc. As for the new password setup. I don't know why but it worked for me the next day. I'm guessing D-Link's website was down the first time i tried it.
hey man I put a password on my router about a week ago and ever since i've been having problems with it. I mean it crashes quite often..about 3-4 times a day, where as it never crashed before I enabled security mode. any idea why?
Thank you, I was playing xbox and somebody hit my connection offline and it took away my private network, this helped me make a new one and my internet is running smoothly now ty.
Wow, after trying this for over an hour I got frustrated and left it unsecured... after losing almost all my bandwidth (downloading game patches at 22 kbps!) because of pirate neighbors I out of desperation searched youtube. Bless you sir :P
For everyone having trouble with the password, trying entering nothing for the PW. As in LEAVE it blank. I used safari, or firefox. One or thee other.
SOME ONE PLEASE HELP i change my password like 17 times then when i log in it works but when i connect with my ipod touch or laptop, it doesnt work and when i log in on the d link page, it adds characters to my pass when i put my pass yet its right
REMEMBER what security protocal you chose (write it down!)..cause if you choose a different one on your lap top under the properties for your connection,it will usually give you some BS error also pay close attention to cipher type TKIP or AES..make sure you choose the right one if you get them swapped...trouble will ensue....Also Network Magic is a godsend for home networks,makes connecting very easy.(you still have to the above video tut to set you router) but NM does make things alot easier.
when it comes to the password..just reset the router (little button in back,like the OP said,youll need something thin,like a pin,pencil or ink pen to get to it,push it down for 20 seconds and release.the router is now reset) and dont use any password at all...trust me much easier.!
I am getting a tablet soon, and its going to need to connect to wifi, and I know that when I first use it, its going to ask for a password, and I think I have forgotten it. the wifi password isnt the same as the admin password right? I know that one. what should I do?
i try to log in on 192.168.0.1 but it says wrong password or username, byt ive spellchecked it multiple times, so i know its not that. but i am using my current router password, i cant find my original one, is it that? and my the router was first set up on my moms pc, so i guess she is admin, do i have to go on her to change it? please help
Just reset the router with the button in the back and start over. Reset the router, then hardwire your PC to it. The router IP address should be 192.168.0.1. Just open a command prompt on the PC and enter ipconfig
I can't even access the admin screen! Can someone help? I tried restarting my router and have tried all possible combinations of [black space], "admin", "Admin", "password" and "user" for the admin name and password!
ok - when i put in my Dllink IP address the brower goes to the screen and ask for a password and username - I must have tried to do this years ago when i bought this and donot rememeber the password because it will not let me get pass this screen without a prober password so how can i reset me password or how do i get to the admin screen to reset my password?
thanks sooooo much YOUR THE FUCKING BEST MAN!!! EVERYONE IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE CONNECT WIRELESSLY AFTER ROUTER REBOOTS JUST UNPLUG THE POWER CORD AND CONNECT
it didnt work i changed my password and when i tryed to get on it with my laptop i typed in the same password and it said this is not the right password..... so i reset it and now its back to unsecure
look on the bottem of your router should say ip address. Type it in at top of page. If not open network and sharing centre (easy to find control panel or right click little internet icon right hand side bottom of screen). At the side should be a list of around 4 to 5 things. The first one for me is view computers and devices. Click that and right click on the router looking device to open properties. In your devices properties (your router) you'll find the webpage address :)

@Bunchie12348 open browser (use internet explorer) type your routers ip address in the bar (you can find it on the back in small letters..usually 192.168.0.1 ) press enter and it will take you there.provided your router is properly connected to your computer! Can you help me with something? When I try to login to the D-link login page i put in the default username and password but it denies it and returns me to the login page. I have logged into that page more than once and suddenly it wouldnt let me in. I need to get in there to change the PortFowarding for a server i made for a game and if i cant get in there i cant use my server. Can you please help?
You're in a tough spot here. If the password has changed and you can't login the only thing left to do is reset the router to factory defaults. Once you do that, the default password will work, but you have to redo your configuration.
Need a bit of help. For some reason I can't connect to my wireless. It says "No or Limited connectivity". Everyone in the house experiences the same thing. We can connect using the LAN cable, just the wireless is screwed up. I tried to change the password, but the same problem occurs. Should reinstall the wireless again? Are the steps similar to this tutorial? Oh and there is no need to delete the old wireless right (since I can't find anything that says 'Delete").
If you can connect with a wired connection then, yea, the wireless portion of the router is broken. I would just reset the router (use the reset button on the router). Connect to the router with a wire and follow the video. If the wireless still doesn't work it may be time for new router. You can also try updating the firmware.
Goto Setup-->Wireless Settings-->Manual Wireless settings (the button at the bottom of the page on the right side.) In the Wireless Security section choose NONE.
If the IP address has changed you can find it easily. From your computer, open a command prompt. Type "ipconfig -all" without the quotes, then press enter. The Gateway IP Address is the router. Type that IP address in a browser to access the router.
how can i get the code that i must type on the URL to get to the settings of the network? i already tried 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.168.1 and neither of them worked :( also the one who set the settings up was the owner so how can i get to it? :( plz answer anyone!!

Annette- Log into the wireless modem and find out what the current passphrase is and what encryption its using. The laptop and ipod wireless controls may not be set to connect to an open network (open- meaning no passphrase needed to connect.) In any case, you should get into the wireless modem so you can change the settings if needed.
You shouldn'r have to change anything on the Xbox or PS3 for this to work. There aren't any ports to open and NAT is done automatically at the router.
ok i did all of that but for some reason it won't let me place the connection to normal i have the blue cord in the number 1 port and the Ethernet cable in the internet port and the lights for the globe keep flashing green instead of staying green then when i try to place the blue cord in the internet port where it belongs and the Ethernet cable in the number 1 port it just shows the globe as a solid orange and won't connect any help I've tried resetting it that didn't help me. so could you lol
That should work unless you have a cross-over or a bad cable. All this takes to work is 2 ethernet cables. One to the modem and one to your station. Just make sure the Internet port is connected to the modem with a normal ethernet cable.

@MrFadzli95 If you turn your Firewall off for a second while typing it in it should work or at least it did for me

Oh and there is no need to delete the old wireless right (since I can't find anything that says 'Delete").
jasque 1 year ago
@jasque
If you can connect with a wired connection then, yea, the wireless portion of the router is broken. I would just reset the router (use the reset button on the router). Connect to the router with a wire and follow the video. If the wireless still doesn't work it may be time for new router. You can also try updating the firmware.

how do you turn off the security to make it open without someone inputing a password? Thanks....
Silanghet92 1 year ago
@Silanghet92
Goto Setup-->Wireless Settings-->Manual Wireless settings (the button at the bottom of the page on the right side.) In the Wireless Security section choose NONE.
wfcastle33 1 year ago
@Silanghet92
Just choose no security. That will give you an open connection.

How come when I entered the 192.168.0.1 I ended up with an error page, I did not change anything at all. How do I fixed this?
willyxjai 1 year ago
@willyxjai
If the IP address has changed you can find it easily. From your computer, open a command prompt. Type "ipconfig -all" without the quotes, then press enter. The Gateway IP Address is the router. Type that IP address in a browser to access the router.
wfcastle33 1 year ago
@willyxjai try 192.168.1.1
tatsuyomi 1 year ago
@tatsuyomi
I did that as well but it ended up going on my internet modem instead

@IxThorpey
Annette- Log into the wireless modem and find out what the current passphrase is and what encryption its using. The laptop and ipod wireless controls may not be set to connect to an open network (open- meaning no passphrase needed to connect.) In any case, you should get into the wireless modem so you can change the settings if needed.

Can you please tell me how you go on that page again??
Because it's been a while i set-up my router & i'm having problems
TheLilDjz 1 year ago
@TheLilDjz
The router webpage most likely will be 192.168.168.1 or 192.168.1.1, unless you changed them at setup.

How do you open your NAT Type for an Xbox 360 or PS3?
sh0Zee 1 year ago
@sh0Zee
You shouldn'r have to change anything on the Xbox or PS3 for this to work. There aren't any ports to open and NAT is done automatically at the router.
wfcastle33 1 year ago
ok i did all of that but for some reason it won't let me place the connection to normal i have the blue cord in the number 1 port and the Ethernet cable in the internet port and the lights for the globe keep flashing green instead of staying green then when i try to place the blue cord in the internet port where it belongs and the Ethernet cable in the number 1 port it just shows the globe as a solid orange and won't connect any help I've tried resetting it that didn't help me. so could you lol
dantathedevil 1 year ago
@dantathedevil
That should work unless you have a cross-over or a bad cable. All this takes to work is 2 ethernet cables. One to the modem and one to your station. Just make sure the Internet port is connected to the modem with a normal ethernet cable.
