  • @ you 80 people:

Did you watch the whole video?!

  • ah industrial rock...sound like a true factory machine...

  • His right hand looks like a spider, walking on ice...Glidiiiiiiinnnnn'

  • Grande Pino...grazie per aver composto questo pezzo straordinario !!! This is undoubtedly one of my favorite songs of Pino Forastiere...I hope that the 79 peoples who disliked this piece did not give thumbs up to Lady Gaga !!!

  • WHY NOT?

  • Very original

  • kinda reminds me of Dominic Frasca's music(?)

  • An ode to A Clock Work Orange.. Rito? Rite.

  • The part that starts at 1:12 is just magic

  • at 1:12 he knows he's a badass

  • When listening to this track I like to dress in my goat costume and dance round a pyre waving my spear of destiny.

  • This song is so dream-like <3

  • Idk why

  • I dont really like it :(

  • Pro tip. When playing this song trim the excess off the high e string right now to the tuning post when trying to play this song. I left about 3/4 of a cm and I just stabbed my thumb and owie owie owie...

  • Ya know, I think Pino is probably one of the only guitarists around that could make this kind of strange technique into something so cool and interesting that works! I love how he contrasts brash, ugly sounds with melody in his compositions.......he's a true artist of the instrument!

  • @millennium1578 check out Stefano Barone

  • @millennium1578 Or check out Sergio Altimura, now that guy makes ugly ugly sounds sound good. :) haha

  • strange, don't really like it to be honest

  • davvero, davvero bravo! assieme a Barone e Altamura un valido futuro chitarristico made in Italy.

  • this guys a genius

  • Cows on LSD lmao....hilarious because I can actually invision it

  • This is my one of my fave songs from him! One of my fave acoustic players as well

  • so awesome!

  • sounds like cows on lsd :D

    I love it, soo original

  • sounds so different. but, impressive.

  • Looks to me like no part of the Guitar is off limits,, lol's

    I think I'll call it the doo-wau'h-finger-flutter

    Keep um commen CandyRat,,;)

  • This song might agitate Antoine Dufour... he mutes the tops of the strings just to stop those sounds! xD

Very innovative Pino, kept me hooked

  • Hahahaha =)

  • so true u made me laugh

  • concordo... 5 stelle sei un mago della musica acustica...

  • Fire!!!

  • emozionante,impressionante la tecnica veramente fluida,5St

  • I have a hard time believing this video has under 100K views...the definition of beauty in musical form and nothing less.

    absolutely astonishing music.

  • I've never seen anyone play above the 1st fret nor have I seen someone even play above their capo. And for something I've never seen before, Pino did it so well.

  • I have played above the first fret for the beginning to iron man, but that is about it. I have also played at the bottom of the bridge, but that is on electric.

  • Amazing Job man. Truly beautiful. 5/5

  • whats the tuning for this song

  • sei bravissimo.

    5 stelle.

  • unreal...just amazing

  • holy bitch tits!

    i jizzed my pants!

  • You're are AMAZING!!! I loved!!!

    From Brazil...

    Good Music Lover...

    Good Job!

  • I like it!

  • amazing job pino !!

making what most people would call "noise"

into awesome "music" 9001 out of 10

  • Wow. Absolutely wonderful

  • HA I don't know what it is, but that thingy on his tuning peg is really funny. :]

    And this song is splendiforous

  • awesome

  • definate Cage here me tinks.

  • this guitarist is absolutely beyond amazing! the soul he puts into his music... its unreal. i wish i could play like this guy! i think he should have called this song "the storm" for some reason tho. ha

  • Just an amazing way to use a guitar!

  • and really what is the thing on his tuner?

  • its a mini glove :D

  • haha thanks man your such a help :)

  • thats bull metubeobprvi look past whats immediatly pleasing to the ears and into the depth of this music, your so shallow, what you see as 'feelings' are probably in the chords of a 12 bar blues you simpleton

  • There is loads of feeling and musical soul in this stuff you prat!

  • What is it with these Italian guitarists? they're all amazing o_o

  • отлично, пино,

    ты классный гитарист!

  • i think the first 9 seconds are genius but the sound suck 9-1:12 :::1:13- 3:40 is rly amazing

  • what did i just say killer??? you basically repeated what i said haha. you're individuality is great.. ha

  • Get your ears seen to then!

  • whats the thing on his bottom tuner? awesome btw

  • listen to the whole thing

  • for serial

  • 2:48 - 3:20 ... genius

  • i've seen that on a couple people's guitar.What is that&purpose,on the low e string tuner?

  • I have to be honest, the beginning is not superb, but that's just in my opinion. If people like it, that's fine with me, they have their own tastes in music, I have mine. But I do like it when he stops playing behind the nut and capo

  • awsome

  • It sounds Awesome to me. I don't see many people doing things like that, And it's sorta weird, but actually pretty cool.

  • are you writing in codes? haven't u heard about "," or "."

  • I stand corrected! You guys are right and I am WRONG! I FORMALLY APOLOGIZE! I shoulda known posting drunk was a bad idea. I appreciate your passionateness, forthrightabilityism and dedification. But strummin' behind the nut and capotet still hurts my ears simply because it sounds like crap.

  • Agreed. God it sounds bad.

  • then save your ears, please!

  • You guys are just pussies.

  • distonality and tritone arent theory terms? woah.. i should probably go to a different college, because they teach those word here at U of Iowa.. hmm. wow.. and if all music were made tonal, and out of triads.. i think id shoot myself..

  • tritone isnt even a theory term? what are you.. a fifth grader? and yes, the preffered term is atonal, not distonal, but both assume similar non-tonic functions

  • 4.5 star .... o my god... someone need ears I think... this song it's what I name 'music'

  • This is a funny composition, because most of it wasn't too interesting for me, but that thing at 1:13 is insanely clever and sounds really good.

If this were my composition, I would have made the entire composition that section and developed the theme (albeit the slow theme) across a whole pile of harmonies

  • It's complex music, made in a simple way... Or is it the other way around?

  • Pino Forastiere use of complex distonality and tritones to create contrast is amazing

  • Uh...sorry shredrick3, beg to differ. Strumming the out-of-tune un-fretible part of the strings behind the nut (and in this case, also behind the capo) sounds exactly like crap. Complex my ass. 'Distonality' and 'tritones' aren't even words used in music theory. Or the dictionary. You may mean dissonance- which sounds like crap- and triad, which is 3 notes in a chord- preferably IN TUNE, which they aren't. Everything after 1:13 however, is extremely well done. VERY NICE!

  • Tonality: the organization of all the tones and harmonies of a piece of music in relation to a tonic- opposite being distonality

Tritone: is a musical interval that spans three whole tones. The tritone is the same as an augmented fourth, which in 12-tone equal temperament is enharmonic to a diminished fifth. It is often used as the main interval of dissonance in Western harmony, and is important in the study of musical harmony. Serial Composition, Oxford University Press, 1966

  • In the past,in Western music, the diminished fifth has usually been used in passing chords to enhance chord change transition. With the advent of alternative music, you can even use a -5 chord as the root and get away with it,even in a simple 1-4-5 progression.Unless you're composing certain far- & mid-east music however, which employs 1/4 tones et al,it's nice to hear EACH NOTE IN TUNE against the OTHERS,despite the distance.Unplanned oscillation, even an octave away,is annoying.

  • Please do not discredit people for what they may or may not know, as I was describing the mechanics of Forastiere's dissonance. Anyway I appreciate his music and your concern for getting the facts straight

  • agreed, music is heard....

  • it sounds like something of Final Fantasy seven... once the theme of jenova and the battle music.. what the hell...

  • very ambient and strange sounding. For the first few times I watched this, I didnt like it too much. But now I think its awesome. Its an acquired taste.

  • you're right!

  • I think it was Tuck Andress that said most instruments have, at this point, a universal way of playing them. This video shows once agian that the guitar doesn't. There are so many ways to play, slap, tune, tap, etc. a guitar that I don't think there will ever be a "best way" to play it...

  • where the fuck did this style come from!

  • god :)

  • no. no it doesnt

  • so melodic and yet diverse the sounds used here are beyond amazing and technical, deffinetly only something the pino could pull off

  • great song

  • ohh mother..

  • I like his smile when he plays. It seems so wise, like he knows something that you don't see coming )

Does he use his pinky when he's playing? I've never saw that before.

Anyway, good for you, Pino. Keep playing your great stuff!

  • The beginning is just as wonderful as the rest of the song.

  • great stuff altogether

  • the beginning sounds horrid..

  • Who cares who's better? There's no better when it comes to music, idiot.

  • well, in my opinion, he's better. Just like in your opinion, Justin Timberlake is better then Andy McKee.

  • Justin Timberlake is utter trash. Antoine Dufour is my personal favorite, but that doesn't makes him better. It just makes him the one I like the most.

  • to me better=favorite, some people interpret it differently. I think the most talented person on the CandyRat list is Stefano Barone, followed by Peter Ciluzzi, but that's just me thinking.

  • im personally more of a fan of stefano barone, then craig d'andrea, then antoine, then mckee, then ross, then pino, the ciluzzi, follow then by the "others".. i unno why i felt the need to share that..

  • how did I forget D'andrea?, he's up there too. The point is, they are all amazing, but I personally think that Stefano is "better" (as in my favorite) then any of the others.

  • Hey......see them all. Forastiere, Dufour and D'Andrea will all be in Detroit on March 7th. Pretty nice night of music.

  • Human nature, haha... Well, I'm going to suppress my human nature right now.

  • Justin Timberlake is not a musician. Even not a singer.

  • Yeah, well, to bad this is a Pino video, not a Stefano. I guess you brain is to small to realize that.

  • Oh yeah! Definitely fits right in with candyrat^_^

  • This is similar to Aerial Boundaries but it is hugely original at the same time - here's why: the separation of the functions of the hands - each hand is doing something totally different. Also, the tone and touch required to pull this off is at the same level of Aerial Boundaries - it's not enough just to play note for note - there has to be a high level of musicianship and dexterity to bring the piece to life - something Pino and Michael had - simply something to strive for.

  • It is true. Pino is apparently the only guitarist who proved himself to be able of continuing Hedges' legacy... Their styles are obviously hugely different, but the spirit which brought the two them to conceive their art is the same.

Great work of a great master

  • I just can't get over how intricate and glorious his percussion playing is in this song. The intricate pattern used by all fingers of the right hand is something I've never seen used so efficiently, constructively, strategically, and musically in a song. It's just so smooth and effortless. Reminds me of the level of dexterity needed for the middle section of Aerial Boundaries. I heard Pino will have a new dvd out early next year!

  • i dont see Pino's work as "Music" , this Genius creates Art.

  • As a guitarist, I can appreciate his willingness to try new things. The beginning of the song just doesn't seem to fit, but after that, it really sounds wonderful. So, I'm still up in the air. I would never tell someone what to do with their music, and as a musician, he will write what speaks to him, not us. So, keep going with it bro. If you dig it, then that's what matters. Still up in the air on my part though.

  • this is a masterpiece worthy of only one as skilled as skilled as Pino, his hands were a gift from the gods

  • How experimental! This shows how much you actually can do with only one instrument. I will remember his name.

  • the behind the capo stuff reminds me of John Cage's prepared piano material.

  • that just completely changed the way I think about playing the guitar.

  • HAHAHAHA YEAH THEY WHOULD!!

  • I think if someone put talent and originality like this on MTV or something, all the brain dead kids would riot.

Not trying to start another random modern music bashing argument.

    But it is a shame.

This is magical. Don't ever remember being this entranced musically.

  • ok im sorry ahead of time but the first part sucks, idk it just sounded weird. otherwise excellent. u guys shud see andy mckee play tho. he's sick

  • Shut up bulldog. The first part of the song was excellent. He's being experimental, you just need to open your mind and learn how to appreciate originality. And we don't need you to tell us about Andy Mckee, everyone who visits this channel already knows who he is.

  • This is what I like so much about Pino...he's willing to walk out to the edge and have a good look over the side.

  • 2:19 sick!!

  • Care to explain the song title's relationship to the song? I really just don't know.

  • It means "Ritual" in italian

  • Rito means "ritual" in italian I think.

    Just think about it.

  • after understanding the song title, it all falls in place, the beginning as well.

    just beautiful :)

  • You're wrong I have appreciation for originality and experimentation. And you guess really bad:)...i listen to Porcupine Tree, Antoine Dufour..Andy Mckee, Justin Taylor, Don Ross, Tommy Emanuel(he does a lot of experimentation for example:))and more...so slow down next time:)bye

  • genius!

  • Wow, this tune has got such a nice energy, it just keeps rolling. Like trance on the guitar.:)

  • quanto cazzo me intrippa sto pezzo!

    <3 italy!

  • i enjoy so much about the rpoland channel. so great.

  • I think its pretty cool how he looks like he's hypnotizing himself with his playing.

  • io ti scrivo in italiano....veramente favolosa la tua originalità!!!!

  • fuck ye! i love the originality.. dont want to over see how hard what he's playing actually is! not just the technicalities, most good guitarists can play this, but to play it convincingly is another matter. props!!!!

  • cheers!

  • Damn good work god!

  • Mindblowingly brilliant.

  • i will not

  • piano forastiere

  • thanks rpoland for taking the time to share this great Musicians w/ their "Magical & Genius" Art creations

Rito is a such crisp out of the box piece of Art

  • Hey. Could you please tell me the tuning of this? It almost sounds standard... I reckon the 2nd string is out though.

    Comments:

    Thanks in advance

  • :-(

  • look at the older comments for this... i already posted it

  • cheers. The find key is your friend:

    "

Ugh, one more change... (you can see I'm just learning this right now :p) its (low) C G C D# Bb c (high)... capo (low) F C F Ab Eb f (high)

  • boy, this video really shattered one of my dreams - to play at the magical elven style wooden studio of the guitar gods - candyrat!

but when I see the wallpaper peeping on the left - hey, it's just a screen in some dude's house... :(

  • hahaha the real magic is in the artists not the magic elven wooden studio

  • Yup - a screen in Mr Poland's house! Still, it's become a bit of an institution, so no reason to loose the dream: I won't rest until there's a vid of me on youtube playing in front of that wooden screen!

  • yeah middle to end

i can hear the 'rito' part of the song

  • Pino seems to be one of the few artists today that has the soul of a free-spirited artist and the soul of a composing machine. His two souls resonate together into the pure essence of music. As for the people who don't like pino; my guess is that they have no soul. Stop listening to music and start feeling it. If anyone finds more dual soul artists like pino post comments on them.

  • i feel you dude

  • That's why it's great =)

  • Mckee is pretty good, the these Mckee worshippers below me jack off to Rylynn.

    Pino's got some talent.

  • wierd...

  • in fairness he's right

  • Rito means 'ritual' in English.

Keep this in mind while you listen to the song. You'll get the imagery he's trying to project to you.

Not many people can do that using 6 strings nowadays.

    5/5

  • It also reminds me of a ritual some guitarist do to warm up. Playing mini comps that reflect their own style and piecing them together so they can get their own spirit flowing

  • Truly a master at his work!

  • Actually that first part was really inventive and I really liked the key. It reminded me of a horror movies track. Kinda like Silent Hill or something...

Very ambient and striking. Good work Pino! Love it!

  • Awesome...
