  • How much maple will you get from one tree????

  • @how2duder It depends on the size of the tree, sugar content of sap, how many taps and a variety of other factors such as weather, season length, and sun exposure. But, the ule of thumb is 1 qt. of syrup per tap. I averaged 1/2 gallon of sap per day per tap and averaged two taps per tree. So, on average I got a gallon of sap per day from each tree. If the season is 40 days long, and the sap ratio 40:1 that's roughly 1 gallon of syrup per tree. For me, 30 taps made 12 gals. of syrup.

  • great video. lots of important data points.

  • @virtualndfan Thanks a bunch! and an FYI to anyone else reading, of all the trees I tapped only two or three leaked and that was due to splitting, likely because the tree was a bit frozen. I've since learned it's best to tap when the trees are flowing up in the day as this helps prevent splitting, but when you are working on a schedule this isn't always possible. I will make a point next season to tap well into the day in hopes of preventing this. The splits that did occur were minor in size.

  • Thanks man, thisreally helped out
