  • I meant the joke didn't work. I thought he meant it doesn't work because he said Helium instead of hydrogen as in the joke is different, but not the effect. Now I see he was talking about the effect. But now I see where u are coming from. I was confused. U r right.

  • Anyone else think that segment was so brilliant it must of been written before?

If that was improv Ricky Gervais if a fucking comic genius.

  • the voice would be higher with hydrogen. silly ricky...

  • Is that the snuffleupagus dude?

  • flawless logic.

    btw stfu retard.

  • FINALLY a young, smart talk show host instead of the usual old stuffy guys (leno, letterman)! No Ageism intended, I like Craig ferguson, who is also kinda old. :)

  • Ricky Gervais is great.

Also, LA. Noir seems incredibly gay and I would never consider buying it ever.

  • How dare he insult clowning...it is an art form. IDIOT!!!!!

    - Chad Cortez

  • @361theatreproject it's an art form?? .... I hope this was some sort of sarcastic or ironic comment lol

  • Probably drug dealing...

  • Now THAT was a good 2 minutes!

  • I like Americans, Particularly the media, it's far less patronising and presumptuous than mainstream British media.

  • @cardboardtiger This is a Canadian show, not American. Just sayin

  • @WildRoseCountryGirl

I was reffering to North American people, my bad.

  • He hasn't fallen for God. Haha.

  • I love when his voice gets higher when hes onto something. WHO GOES INTO CLOWNING? LOLOLOLOLO oh i love ricky

  • He laugh like Elmo!

  • @audrey1053 did you see his interview with elmo? .he almost pissed himself....funniest thing in the world to watch those two....

  • You would still talk funny with hydrogen wouldn't you?Higher pitched even, since its less dense.

  • @CullTheLivingFlower It's not higher pitch the words more faster throw the hydrogen. sorry

  • @sirbestnameever Regardless of whats happening, hydrogen produces the same effect as helium. Thats the point I was making. That the Hindenburg joke does work, even though its was a hydrogen balloon.

  • @CullTheLivingFlower yes but silgtly slower

  • @CullTheLivingFlower except that all the hydrogen had already burned up so there wouldn't be any hydrogen left. therefore it doesn't work. either way, Ricky rocks. very funny guy

  • @Fadwar986 Thats a good point, didn't think of that.

  • I love it when they play ads which have no relevance whatsoever with me

  • Just as I was about to doubt Ricky's brilliance, he said "It was hydrogen. That joke doesn't work."

He never fails to impress me :)

  • @laymarko Your great.....

  • @laymarko plus he has a degree in philosophy

  • @laymarko

Hydrogen has the same effect on pitch as helium - in fact the effect is stronger.

  • @JJJMMM1 But helium doesn't burn so it wouldn't work.

  • @timoteoman13

What are you talking about? The Hindenburg used hydrogen, as pointed out, so the high-pitch joke does of course work. Ricky was wrong.

In fact he has been wrong on the subject before. They talked about it on the radio show and he said Hindenburg had helium and that helium is very flammable. I believe he was corrected by email.

  • no, i don't want a 4 star hotel.

  • What channel does The Hour air on, and are you able to watch it in England? Watched a few of these clips now and the host seems great.

  • @rophnpwaul Now called 'George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight', it's a CBC program. George used to be a 'VJ' for Canada's music channel: MuchMusic.

Google 'The Hour CBC' and you'll find some episodes in the CBC archives. For recent ones, I don't know.

  • 00:29 RICKY'S LAUGH!!! Always cracks me up xD

  • He's ALWAYS funny and not just like "ha-ha", nice to have you around funny, like... genuinely hilarious all the time.

  • There is no other comedian (or person for that matter) that I've seen that is so funny on a consistent basis.

There's always like the one or two "TRUTH" guys in any field, just the guys that absolutely embody everything about what they do.

    Darwin is that for biology.

    Tyson is that for boxing.

And Gervais, is that for comedy.

  • @1Thompsonmusic mate you've got some issues, i feel for you, you made youself look like a right wanker - proberly best to remove your comment

  • @1Thompsonmusic

    You're a piano student!

What possible insight into comedy could you possibly have.

Could I ask who you consider to be a brilliant comedian then?

  • @1Thompsonmusic hahahaha find a door if you can and gtfo

  • @1Thompsonmusic well at least you didn't go overboard with your comments. Nice and subtle, just putting your idea out there, but respecting the opinions of others aswell. Fair play to you, lots of thumbs up on the way I'm sure.

  • i love that cheesy smile of his !

  • No idea who he is but I like this host and you can tell Ricky enjoyed this interview

  • @JanineRobin Yeah he is great, I have watched a few of his interviews on YT, and he is always really laid back, allows the guest to speak, and asks really good questions. He rocks :-)

  • @JanineRobin you don't know who ricky gervais is :P?

funny cause I never heard of this show and the host..

  • @gijz321 I think she meant she doesn't know who the host is...but she likes him and his way of interviewing

  • @jkino78 aha yeah i see you're right..

    Then I'll forgive her!

  • who goes into clowning?! x

  • @krustywazoo hydrogen...

  • @raoulthompson You actually have no idea what you're talking about. Prevalent racism in Canada? Not true, also being American is not a race, so the term racism doesn't even apply.

  • @Ahab2008 ANYONE, whether US or Canada, or anywhere else, who judges an entire country as one mentality is an ignorant, arrogant, and hateful example of the worst in humanity. If you're too uneducated or ignorant to judge people based on individual merit, no matter what race, sexuality, culture, religion, or country you are or are from, do us ALL a favor and educate yourself or be silent.

  • Heyyy. Clowns can be funny.

  • @the0fart0machine One thing I've noticed is that negative people like you never use the words "in my opinion". I've seen Ricky live many times and in my opinion, he's absolutely brilliant. Go watch something you DO like instead.

  • @JanineRobin He makes me so negative, I saw him die at live earth. I felt sorry for him. Did you see it?

  • @the0fart0machine lol who is going to care what opinion someone called "the0fartmachine" has anyway.

  • @MissTeeenAIabama YOU!!!

  • @the0fart0machine Hey thefartmachine, I am glad you think Ricky Gervais is a nice guy!

  • @pepperleg Yes, a nice guy, I wish I come fine him amusing. As a straight guy he is excellent, the scene on extra's with David Bowie was excellent.

  • W00t! Scotland Win!

  • I thought his reaction with the welsh qustion was so funny, I'm welsh and when he cringed was so funny.

I like scotland, but out of the three celtic counties ireland, wales and scotland, i love ireland.

    Think ricky is so funny.

  • He doesn't really get the 'quick fire' thing

  • Oh dear, he said 'prince william or prince harry?' and ricky has, as he said, met both of them.

Pissed or just a bit dim?

  • Yeah I know, I watched the video and payed attention - something you obviously didn't do when reading my comment. Pissed or dim? I would go with dim, though you might be pissed as well. Have you got a webcam so that I could look at how you look - that might help with the accuracy of my answer.

  • oh who cares this man is simply AMAZING!! so quick! i love you ricky! please hurry up and do some more stand up in the UK!

  • How is it possible for someone to be so quick and whitty?

  • How is it possibly to spell witty wrong when YouTube has a built in spell check? These are the questions that have plagued mankind for centuries.

  • How is it "possibly" to get possibly in the wrong tense? This has plagued mankind for centuries. I thought that failed-pedantry had been wiped out. Obviously not!

  • Touche.

  • Ya know what the sad thing is? I actually proofread my initial reply to make sure that you couldn't comeback with exactly the type of response that you did. LOL

  • That's got nothing to do with tense. They've used an adverb instead of an adjective.

  • @12345l6789 It isn't a tense. Possibly is an adverb and possible is an adjective. Just being pedantic.

  • @12345l6789 wrong 'tense'?? so, let me get this straight. you fucked up while ridiculing a person who had fucked up while ridiculing you?? multiple layers of failed-pedantry!!

  • What? My Youtube doesn't have a built in spell check!?!?!? How do you get one?

  • it offers you to install one if you're really really shit at spelling :)

  • We've caught a lie one here terry! "What a plonker

  • Well that joke went down well!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @cptnbennett another question that's plagued mankind is "why would you care that someone mis-spelled a word, it's not the end of life as we know it"

  • @MissTeeenAIabama El burrito.

  • @12345l6789

Because hes said alot of his jokes before on podcasts and xfm radio lol.

But he does come up with some new stuff, just rarely.

  • @truckcompany i know. but like the stuff about drug dealers is off the cuff and brilliant

  • @12345l6789

    That is true...

  • The clown rant was brilliant.

  • these yanks dont get the british humor

  • @paperandtea

    Agreed,

His comedy is far more towards the intellectual scale of the comedic spectrum

  • Comment removed

  • As for the stereotype, I realise stereotypes do not apply to everyone but i do think there is somewhat of a clear difference between two nations humour. Its not necessarily a bad thing, nor would i say that "everyone in US doesnt get him" because humour is different in every individual.

  • Alot of the jokes he says are quite crude and as for the dark sided humour jokes you'll only find funny if you share the same sense of humour. Although i agree with the subtleness, unlike other comedians who shout their jokes as if a cry for laughter i.e Dane Cook who i personally find to be completely unfunny. Gervais stands out by delivering his jokes unlike anyone else,as you said with subtlety but deliberate ignorance if that makes sense.

  • You do not understand.

He is extremely intelligent and very human.

  • im not saying he's a stupid man, im saying his jokes aren't aimed at intelligent people. defining his style of humor as intellectual isn't right. his jokes are mostly pretty simple and straightforward.

  • I enjoy Eddie Izzard, Dana O'Briain, Bill Bailey (people who I consider to be somewhat of the weirder more intellectual type of humor and I enjoy Ricky Gervais and Luis CK. Its not as simple as: "this comedian targets intelligent people and this one doesn't."

  • ricky targets people that enjoy humor. but what im saying is that his jokes are mostly straightforward and simple, which is perfectly fine. my favorite comedian is Stephen Wright, and a lot of people don't get his stuff at all.

  • I took a look and it was mildly funny but not my type. It was too much of jokes put after other jokes. I like a bit more conversational humor where you go back and forth with different subjects. But hey as you say, its purely a matter of taste.

  • @omegavalerius then watch the whole interview, this is just a clip. It's meant to be quick fire. They actually had a very good conversation up to that point, Ricky's an interesting guy.

  • @xmxmal

Id say hes more intellectual that most comedians. He does have a Masters in Philosophy

  • You idiot, their not yanks, their Canadians.

Can't believe you didn't get that?...

  • They're. Sorry!

  • Oh yea my bad lol

  • The more you bang on about 'British Humour' the more you disgrace us. We know we're a funny nation, and we shouldn't be attacking other countries for having different mindsets..

  • Well except for the Americans :P hehe (joke, don't freak out people :D)

  • yanks? this is in canada

  • Who cares?

  • he is not gay..

  • wrong.

  • Bet hes not as straight as a board

  • Englishmen never are.

  • shut ur mouth u need to thank u senglish people u owe us big time

  • That coming from the U.S. - home of Gay Cities?

We used to put homos in jail in England - ask Oscar Wilde.

    Then you yanks arrived.

  • This is hilarious.

How come you know where I'm from?

    Certainly not from the US.

    Don't take it so seriously.

Or have I hit a sore point?

    Haha

  • Well, I guess it was filmed in a studio, brain drain.

  • where was this filmed?

  • The Hindenberg joke hilarious

  • well we got the best music so get fucked

  • Gervais = Genius. There can't be a better comic on the planet! Awesome

  • @alandonald Louis CK. Even Gervais admits to his superiority.

  • Haha that clown bit is hilarious.. Well done for choosin scotland ricky, even though glasgows a complete shithole lol

  • Haha that clown bit is hilarious.. Well done for choosin scotland ricky, even though glasgows a complete shithole lol

  • ' c'mon who goes into clowning'- ricky your a ledgend. NY!!!! thanks man.

  • this man never lets me down

  • hey.... im from Los Angeles.. =( LOL

  • ahhh, ricky in only 2 minutes can be a genius

  • im from wales and its better than scotland lol

  • lies.

  • haha its truth

  • obvously you would say that lol, im from scotland and ive never been to wales so i cant comment on which is better.

  • not obvious, i dnt think wales is that gd just rather live here than scotland lol. But id rather places like america, NZ, australia.

  • good choice, they are definately better places but i feel safer in scotland (generally the uk) than anywhere else in the world, i hate the laws here, alot of people agree they are fucked up but what can you do?.

  • ye i agree this nation is great for less crimes, dangerous animals, care systems and generally a very safe place. But i spose sometimes u gota live on the end lol, plus the places i mention the weather is better and there more to do

  • im from wales (: and ive never been to scotland haha , will do probably next year. i didnt think he'd pick wales...

  • canadians are everything south park depicts

  • "props" WTF does that mean?

  • meaning "thats great" or "good for you" ...maybe its a canadian thing?

  • Europeans love Canadians. They're like Americans with a human side.

  • EXACTLY !!

    Well Said...!!

Canadians Are LIKE Americans, But Europeans Love Them !!

  • that's actually very well put.

  • @Ahab2008 it takes more than just a human side, for Americans to be nearly as good as Canadians. Oh and by the way i don't know a single bad canadian comedian. Brits for canada, except the French part...they're a bit lame...lamer than the actual french.

  • funniest man in the world

  • it wasnt really 2 minutes, more like 3.5

  • Comment removed

  • no it wasn't. try and pay attention.

  • I like Canadians, I think they have a similar sense of humour to Brits

  • More so to Aussies. And the US can't understand the jokes so that rules them out. But yeh similar.

  • The laugh of hate.

  • which part? swastika? Ha ha!

  • yes i agree with u, if britain didnt exist, all the good people would be from canada

  • If Britain didn't exist, there would be no Canada. Your comment is redundant, since all Canadians are Brits.

  • And Brits came from somewhere else too, so Canadians aren't Brits...they are (along with Brits) something else.

    By your logic that is./

  • thats like saying all americans are irish

  • if britain didn't exist there'd be no usa either. actually there might be a canada and usa, but they'd be french.

  • You idiot. The inuit were in Canada for thousands of years before whitey invaded.

  • props for using "inuit" instead of "inuits"

  • most are french idiot

  • Hahahha! That was cool interview.

  • Ricky Geraivs :D

he is awesome but i couldn't see him before because im from germany and well we don't see him in germany xD anyway xD he is a great comedian and he is very very funny in GTA 4 :D xD

  • LOL... i don't think he got the concept of 2 minutes

  • I think he completely got it and thought quite rightly that it's a trite format.

I mean, what the fuck is this? Jaywalking?

  • Gervais is the most naturally funny man I've ever seen.

  • Ricky is such a naturally funny man. Really good host, too.

  • Yeah I love his quick wit. He's amazing to be able to think so fast

  • Again I have to say this chat show host is wonderful. All power to Canada.
