Very interesting examination of the dialect's evolution in HK. Funny when I was growing up there I always thought mixing English in Cantonese mid-sentence or worst, mid-word tacky. I was very self conscious then.

I really love the milk tea (70% tea and 30% coffee) in Hong Kong. Every time I go to China town here, I look for " Hong Kong milk tea". It is my favourite.
Wonderful series! Very informative, especially at moments, like 2:33, with observations of language vs. culture for individual growth/expressionism. So it is, when any language/vernacular becomes "officially" the standard, it loses its ability to recreate, or keep up with the pace of change in the environment/people. Thank you very much!
I think you will attract more people to view these videos if you tag them with words like: Cantonese, Language, Hong Kong, Culture, Education, Learning, History, Traditions, customs, civilization, Chinese, Linguistics,
There're 8 million people in Hong Kong and I can't believe This has only been watched 2453 times. This shows how uninterested Hong Konger are. It's pretty sad!
And there's nothing wrong with learning from other people and cultures. It's good to learn from others but first thing u need to do is to understand yourselves before learning from others, or you'd end up so confused u wouldn't know what direction to go. And the worst thing is to copy others literally. We need to learn the good things from other cultures, even our own and interpret it into something that works for our society.
This is great I think there should be more programs like this in Hong Kong. It's good to learn more about our culture, history and language. It really makes us question the education system in Hong Kong and how things should be improved, not necessarily a Western way, but it should be something that's suitable for our culture and people.

very good vid. One can learn cantonese faster if one is constantly immersed in it instead of native tongue
