I have this same Spyderco, in a Burled Wood Handle. Had the knife almost a year. Love this knife.
I have noticed with humid Florida conditions, swamps and such, rust is a small issue. Keeping it oiled and clean as much as possible. I USE MY KNIFE. Incredibly sharp long lasting edge.
@PaulDeFitter Spyderco co-designed the knife with the Bushcraft UK group. I bought my knife from a Spyderco dealer on Ebay. The hole serves to purpose other than cosmetics. Most all Spyderco knives have the hole. On the folders it's beneficial in opening the blade but it doesn't do anything on a fixed blade that I'm aware of.
Great review. I'd love to see the knife in action. Both are a little expensive for my taste but it's nice to see quality gear and new products. Thanks!
Drainage hole are overrated. Unlike on a backpack, water won't build up to the point it will weight you down. On a knife sheath they won't prevent your blade from been wet. To prevent any corrosion you have to wipe the moisture off and apply oil, if needed, when you are done. In other words, a drainage hole is not a pass for being careless.
@newtubetubetube Yeah, that's kinda what I was figuring. Plus if you oil your knife regularly it's probably going to start to absorb into the leather inside the sheath and kind of help oil the knife each time you sheath it.
@Ggreenvideos I got the fire steel from knivesshipfree. Thats a dot com at the end of it. It won't let me post the actual web address for some reason.
