He was an artist that many will miss. From his magnificent "Rainy Night In Georgia" to "Fools Rush In" I will always enjoyed listening to Brook Benton's deep smooth beautiful voice. R,.I.P. good Man.
Living in the Netherlands, in 1963, slow dancing with my girlfriend, who never became my wife, I will always remember my girlfriend, when i listen to Brook Benton.
This song brings back great memories for me! My dad has always played this in the car and i used to say..."dad put something else on" but secretly i loved it and all the other great songs he played well im 30 now and that was like 15 years ago! : )
I met a lady from the U.K. on a now defunct Brook Benton website. She has almost every song Benton did. I sent her tapes of all the lp's I had, and she sent me every song she had. Between us we have quite a collection. I love the guy, but she loves him more than I do. I am sure glad I met her. She is so nice.
Brook Benton was a wonderful singer...Have most of his records....he is so good, that nobody seems to notice that this is NOT the original hit version on Mercury records...his first huge hit...this is a remake.
ALL of Brooks big hits before he went to Reprise Records were on Mercury Records...today, if you purchase any of the old hits, if it doesn't say "Polygram Records"( they own the Mercury Label), then you are not getting the original recordings. He did record hits on Reprise "Laura, Wha'ts He Got That I Ain't Got", and on Cotillion: "Rainy Night In Georgia", "Don't It Make You Wan To Go Home" , and "Shoes"
He was great, but for me, Jackie Wilson was the best there ever was or ever will be...I have most of Brooks's records, and he is fantastic...one of the all time greats and it is a shame how he has been forgotten...and he was a friend of Jackie's and Elvis.
Thank you so very much for posting this video. Mr. Brook Benton was in a class by himself. Boy, we have lost so many of the good old singers. Those today cannot fill their shoes. RIP BB.
Somewhere near the top of my personal list of all time favorite singers is Brook Benton. Sadly, he left us much too soon but he left us with some of the best vocal recordings of his time.
perhaps one of the most elegant voices of all time. Brook sang from the depths of his heart and soul, almost effortlessly. all i need is to hear Hotel Happiness. thanks!
lovely song, fabulous.....

@GETTINGYOUNGERONE As I like to say, he may be often imitated but never could be duplicated. He was one of a kind.
