On January 1 & 2, 2012 there was extensive chem-trailing in Ormond Beach west of Nova Road. The planes were generally entering from the north. The sky was a cloudless, pristine, deep blue reminiscent of a clear pool. Each of the massive planes discharged 2 ropy trails of smoke from the tail section, not from the wings where the jet engines are. By 2 P.M. these smoky trails expanded & merged to form a cloud bank. Until sunset we had overcast, occluded sky.
Like Connie Francis, Tuesday Weld was schoolboys favourite in the 50s. In Return to Peyton Place she was at her best in the series, but for some reason here in UK the run was suddely pulled and it rather spoilt it for me and other fans too. Her husband Dudley Moore not only an accomplished actor, also a respected jazz pianist.
I saw her today in a VHS I bought recently, SOLDIER IN THE RAIN, with Steve McQueen and Jackie Gleason. Yes, she was preternaturally good-looking. She wore those tight dresses and high heels in the way that makes us fellows walk into telephone poles!
Very nicely done video. No gimmicks...no quick edits...you allowed us to luxuriate on her face. She was pretty and had the sexiest voice of ALL the blondes (Sandra Dee...Carol Lynley...Yvette Mimieux...Dolores Hart). She was gorgeous. I hope she's well and happy.
yeah whoever it is on these pages that thinks" little miss hottie" here was underrated wasn't around at the time she came on the scene. she gave diffinition to the term "jailbait" at fourteen in her first film rock, rock, rock. and only got more stunning after that. by the time of dobie gillis, she was goddess status. every magazine on the stand had her on it. underappreciated?.....really?!
It was Dwayne's Hickman's acting apex (his breakout was on the Bob Cummings Show, another show ahead of its time IMHO), tho' he had a role in the unforgettable Cat Ballou and later became a studio exec.
But it was arguably the real start for Tuesday, Warren Beatty and Bob Denver. (Another reason it sticks with me is that my classmates nicknamed me Maynard, and tho' I was as much geek as beat, some old buds still call me that.)
She was also featured in "The many loves of Dobie Gillis too" - but it's not mentioned here from 1959-63. Her first major role I believe that led to many of the above. Can't believe that was left out.
The photo at 1:41 OMG.... I don't think they came any prettier than Tuesday. How georgeous. All peaches and cream, and a touch of sugar too...Tuesday is a real treat any day of the week! In her younger days (and judging from the older photos) they were going for a younger Marilyn Monroe\Jayne Mansfield hybrid. Who knew they's produce someone way more beautiful?
Very nice, sounds very much like Lesley Gore. They are some killer notes. And if she'd be born in my former domicile, she'd be known as Sheffield Tuesday.
Tuesday deserves to be on the "Hollywood Walk of Fame" due to her Popularity both on Television and Films. I wonder if the fact that she turned down roles in many hit movies was due to her lifelong battle with epilepsy.....Memories
A great beauty? No! A great actress? Questionable. But she exuded a sensuality that is hard to define. I would love to see how Richard Avedon would have photographed her. Her B/W fotos were more evocative than her color fotos. Hell, Steve McQueen sure looked happy.
Didn't she put out some music herself? Seems my sister and me had a single, Decca label maybe, long ago. (Probably from around 1967 or so when the only 45s we could buy were either knock offs or cut outs in 5 to 25 cent range.)
I really liked the video. She was such a wonderful actress. I remember her playing "Madam X". I was 10 & I cried & cried when she died in that. I loved Tuesday Weld's stage name so much that I named my oldest daughter ---Tuesday Cathryn . Oddly she turned out to be a performer of sorts---a dancer. She's Tuesday Mayhew now & she's on Youtube.
Tuesday often omits from her credits her memorable 1959-60 role as the money-hungry Thalia Menninger opposite her "Rally" co-star, Dwayne Hickman, in the classic TV sitcom "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis." Although attracted in real life as well to her beauty -- at first -- Hickman sadly learned that Weld was as shallow as her TV character. As he put it, "diificult, spoiled, petulant and totally self-absorbed." As Hickman wrote in his autobiography, Tuesday "was born to play Thalia Menninger."
You forgot to mention her role (I forget the character's nme) in "Once Upon a Time in America". She was - and played - a very mature person in that movie. I was mwsmerized and could hardly believe it truly was Tuesday Weld because she played the character so well. I thought she should have been nominated for an Oscar.
One of the great lines from the TV show The Odd Couple - Oscar: Did I ever tell you about my dream? Felix: Yes, you and Tuesday Weld the sole survivors of a nuclear holocaust.
Where did you find those pictures? I've been looking but there aren't very many high quality ones out there. I especially like the ones at .38, .50, 1.14, 1.24, 1.40, 2.08... you have some really good pictures there!
Tuesday Weld was and probably still is gorgeous. They had the whole package naturally, it must make the likes of the actors today envious, they didnt need to have the botox or collagen to enhance their lips of whatever, it was all natural, todays woman can just dream of what she will look like after all the cosmetic work.
Many of today's women(sheep) don't need to use botox or collagen either, but the do it anyway. It doesnt enhance their looks as they believe. Instead it ruins them. Fools!
It's true that she was an underrated actress. I was always surprised that her star didn't rise higher than it did. Last film I saw her in was "Falling Down" starring Michael Douglas. She played the wife of Robert Duvall's police detective character, and that film also was underrated because it really was one of the best films of the decade.
This is so great!! thanks so much for the share 60snotforsale. I got it the first time you shared it with me, heehee, but I just love this song and vid :-)!
I see her compared with Carol Lindley and Sandra Dee in previous comments. Interesting, because the three of them were friends when they were first starting out as models.
Never made it? Under-appreciated? Are you folks crazy? She was IT. And had my "sole-survivors-of-a-nuclear-holocaust" fantasy been borne out, she and I would have repopulated the planet by now.
I remember going to see her in I Walk The Line. Wow, she lookeed good as the hillbillys daughter. She just kinda never made it BIG, sort of fell off the cliff in the late 60s. She was hot..
