  • what kind of substrates are you using?

  • What products are used here exactly (brand and material name)? and the last layer looks like a type or coarse sand, not gravel. Please correct me if i am wrong.

  • Very nice indeed!!! Please tell me where I can purchase the tools you used, not so much the fanned out scrapper for the substrate, but the hemostat/ tweezers and the scissors. I would appreciate it very much. Thanks.

  • This must all cost a lot.. all of those plants, the sand/substrate, the rocks. I would have to order all of those online, and shipping would add to that cost. Great video by the way, you guys are awesome.

  • Use your imagination when designing your layout... I HAVE NO IMAGINATION :)

  • How couls anyone dislike this guys work? It's awesome! And get a life you haters!

  • Thank you kindly for this video. Doing my research before I start my first aquarium for Shrimps. Is plant substrate just sand or is a specific type of product for aquariums?

  • cantiknye!

  • what brand of substrate would you suggest; is there a certain kind of gravel that will work the best?

  • very nice

  • like it but get better fish

  • i like that, but im a sucker for making little holes where my fish can swim, this would do my head in because its tight.

  • how many houres a day you using co2?????

  • @imarealbigmike for me i dont use any Co2 diffuser, i put like a ton of guppy and molly, and my plant seem to growing pretty rapid. I think it cause of the co2 that these guppy and molly put out

  • @shadowfaithx i don't think you know more things about planted aquariums than i do.

  • @shadowfaithx so??!

  • How on earth do you clean it though?

  • What did you use to fertilize (except CO2 and Plant Nutrition +)?

  • how do you keep a tank like this clean

  • @shit4shore dude you can have a saltwater tank there! just go to the reef and catch some fish and corals, take some water and all you need to buy is the tank lighting and filter!

    man you're lucky...

  • What type of rock is that?

  • @donkeyfieldmouse You also look at all the aqua videos =D

Looks like seegebirge or leopard gestein in German. Enter it in google.

I think his stone formation, well all formations, are total crap....

  • Really nice videos, still wonder, why doesn't he put water in first? Interesting that he uses an pincet to apply the plants.

  • jesus christ. i have had my tank set up for over half a year now. no where near like this. then again, this guy is rich, prob. has metal halide lights, crazy co2 injection and what not. real good substrate as well.

  • Could someone tell me what kind of rock that is? :) I'm kinda intrested in getting some ^^

  • Nice tank!!! Well anyways I have a question regarding planting the plants.

When I start a new tank and put plants in there, would the nitrogen cycle

affect the growth of them. I went to a pet store and the lady told me I should

get PH buffers to get adjust the PH so I can control the ammonia from

killing the plants. Is that true and necessary?? Thank You

  • wish it had sound :(

think i am going to do this to a floval edge!

i get everything cheap through my job! :)

  • In order to have a beautiful planted tank like this you either must be rich or have nothing else in life to worry about (such as kids, a demanding business or parents living in another state etc)....or both.

  • @sepehrfarzaneh this was jsut for show and shows u how to plant a fish tank liek they do i dont they well put a fish tank in a white room lol i want my tank like this so bad thor

  • if i drop my phone in there theres no way 2 even finding it

  • What soil does he use?

  • can you help me? what are your specs? i have a 75 gal tank, a little more than 2 watts per gallon, co2 with inline reactor and ph controller set to around 7.1 to 7.2, bubbles going at 2 drops per sec. lights on 10 hrs a day, i'm getting algae on the glass, and hair algae growing on my plants, and the plants don't look like their growing well and slowly losing color...the substrate is eco complete, and i use liquid ferts every 4 days...what's wrong??? the tank is only 2 weeks old... thank you

  • What substrate is that?

  • in the maturation period (ciclage):

for plant grow: co2 and light (with no fish before 4-5 weeks)...

to not grown algae: Partial water changes every 2-3 days...

  • Hey can someone help me. So I have a few plants in my tank, and one has some white residue on it, and some of the leaves are a little too dark green. Is it dying? Or is that just algae developing on it. The fish like to swim under it.

  • A question ;when u prepare this aquarium like dont you need to clean the aquarium?

  • he is more detail then Oliver in terms of start up on mixing the soil, subsrate and faterlizer. Thanks for the detail.

  • where did you get those types of plants? please PM me I love your design by the way

  • @shankfunnytv This video is posted by Tropica which is one of the biggest dealers in aquatic plants ;)

  • does anyone know what brand is that aquarium he is using? who makes it? where can i get it in southern california? thanks

  • i am inspired - thank you

  • how did u fill up the tank?

  • shit. im doing it the wrong way.

  • what kind of fishes were those?

and does any fish eat plants?

  • @trojanshawaii those are SAE's (siamese algae eaters).

  • so you don't need to feed them anything?

  • @trojanshawaii They'll eat up all the algae.. but if your tank doesn't have too much, you'll have to supplement their diet with vegetable matter.

  • man they need sound! it feels like a silent world!

  • @MsAndreaxox ur right man!! i thought my speakers was damaged

  • ur right i thought my speakers was damaged

  • I jave 3 bulbs from petco in my 55, they have already sprouted in 3 days

  • @thehobbyguys is there any place where you can buy plants from tropica online.

  • im soooo jealous...

  • with a carpet of plants on the ground, do you scifen the gravel, if not ,what do u do to clean the poop and crap out of the tank?

  • what's the name of rocks you used in the aquarium

  • poor plants

    : )

  • And if my wallet did that, it would have died and went to you know what.

  • am i the only one feeling heartache when he cut those plants like a maniac?

  • i admire you work and if you dont mind me asking how mutch did that cost because i know that i do have enough i just was wondering

  • So the tank and stand are around $300, filter $125, gravel $75, Rock $55, 15 HC $60, Pogostemon Helferi $40, staurogyne sp $18, Myriophyllum mezianum $25, prosperpinaca palustris $20, 5 SAE's $15, 10 otos $20, 20 snails $35 and finally Caridia multidentata $40 so you're looking at around $800 not including lights, ferts, and chemicals.

  • fantastic best fish tank in the world

  • thank you...now plz could i have the name of the Rocks...the rock was so beautiful

  • Umm i Dont use Co2, Although the plants in my tank kept going yellow so i started using (Seachem Flourish) which made the plants turn green again, The ones that did die have now grown back and spread.

  • damn this guy's got money lol.

  • any way he has a lot of money but its trattropica they grow plants

  • @Light236 He's probably a doctor, specifically, based upon the fact that he is using more than one type of hemostat to prune and plant his plants, I'd say a surgeon.

  • @Light236 I think this is Oliver Knott.

  • @wndebu It is

  • @Light236 what makes you say that?

  • whats the substrate the guy is using

  • Fine gravel and fertilizer mix.

  • Tropica AquaCare and gravel

  • what substrate is he using can anyone tell me?

  • Lucky fish!

  • Comment removed

  • doesnt the filter suck up the substrate? or is it havy when wet?

Please give info im planning on planting live plants into my aquarium.

  • what is the top layer of soil he starts adding in around 41-52 and man alot of pots i'll go poor trying to set up the foreground, i've seen hemiantnus callitrichoides for $20 a pot in Australia which would cost me about $300 !!!!!! no way.

  • I mean UK not undercity

  • the rock is that damn rock that everyone in the UC seems to have access to except for the rest of the world

  • Can anyone tell me what that rock is called? Please reply to this. thanks.

  • yeah! i wish i can work for them!

  • how do you clean fish poop...does syphoning harm the carpet plants ?

  • With a heavily planted tank you don't need to syphon the gravel. The plants will use the fish waste as extra fertiliser and will use it all up.

If there is any gunk settled on top of the plants (it can look ugly) you just wave the syphon above the plants and remove the gunk without disturbing the plants or gravel.

  • do you have a filther in there?

  • evothefool : It looks like an ADA tank, they use canister filters under the tank with glass pipes in and out.

  • what kind of stones you are using and where i can get them please reply

  • how do you get water in there without stirring up all the plants and sediment? this video skipped that step.

  • use a plate

  • In their other video (for a simple planted tank) they show you how to do it - they run a hose very, very gently into the tank, on top of the rocks rather than on top of the gravel.

    Personally I use a plate.

  • Love your aquarium. Looks great. I am a newbie when it comes to aquariums and i would like to know if my progress in my tank is well. Please respond anyone.

  • Dued looks sweet i wonder how much did you spend at first for all your plants??

  • Tropica is a plant growing company that sells their plants to the public. So their plants didn't cost them anything! They are so lucky because the rest of us have to pay for ours!

  • how do you go about cleaning a densly planted tank like this, does syphoning harm the carpet plants or do you not bother with it?

  • What kind of stones have you used in this tank. Video is great :o

  • Which T5 colour temp have you used in this tank? Which T5 colour temp do you suggest?

Thank you very much for this video

  • how do you siphone the gravel with all the plants?

  • was just gonna ask the same thing

  • sweet video *thumbs up*

  • Hi, Wow your videos are just amazing, I was curios, I am having such a hard time growing my plants. I have two T-5 Lights in a 77 gallon Freshwater Community Tank, Fine Sand for Gravel and I leave the lights on about 6-8 hours a day. I keep getting spot algae on all my plants and a little bit of hair algae growing on the leaves and sides of tank. I have 6 Ottos and a 8 inch pleco and a few other species, PLUS I HAVE PLANT GROW FERTILIZER sticks any tips or advice would be amazing thanks! trying!

  • I've just started my first planted aquarium so I'm no expert. But from what I understand, algae is caused when one of the plants requirements is out of balance with others, i.e. you might have plenty of light but not enough of one some nutrients.

I would suggest doing some research into algae and fertilisation for planted tanks; your plant grow sticks might not have everything that the plants need but more than enough for the algae!

  • To stop algae I use RO water cos it has no nitrates and phosphates. Use additives to stop pH crashing though. Also Rowaphos in the filter helps. IMHO ancistrus are the best algae eaters. Plecs can't be bothered eating it once they grow and otocinclus though good are a bit delicate. Alge needs 2 things. Light and nutrients. Take one away and it can't thrive. For a planted tank 8-10 hrs is about right.

  • do you have co2?

  • how long does it take after planting wen u canput in fish?

  • It depends on the fish. If we are talking SAE (Crossocheilus siamensis) or the Odessa barb (Puntius ticto) I would not hesitate to introduce them just after planting. However, you should always meticulously rinse the plants in order to avoid carry over of excess fertilizer which in high concentrations potentially could harm sensitive fish. This is exactly what Oliver Knott is doing on the movie when he removes stone wool and rinses the roots.

  • alright cheers

  • that is awsome

  • man i luv tht tank how big is it and wat plants did u use the writting on the bottom is not clear

  • Gracias Tropica y Oliver Knott.
