What products are used here exactly (brand and material name)? and the last layer looks like a type or coarse sand, not gravel. Please correct me if i am wrong.
Very nice indeed!!! Please tell me where I can purchase the tools you used, not so much the fanned out scrapper for the substrate, but the hemostat/ tweezers and the scissors. I would appreciate it very much. Thanks.
This must all cost a lot.. all of those plants, the sand/substrate, the rocks. I would have to order all of those online, and shipping would add to that cost. Great video by the way, you guys are awesome.
Thank you kindly for this video. Doing my research before I start my first aquarium for Shrimps. Is plant substrate just sand or is a specific type of product for aquariums?
@imarealbigmike for me i dont use any Co2 diffuser, i put like a ton of guppy and molly, and my plant seem to growing pretty rapid. I think it cause of the co2 that these guppy and molly put out
@shit4shore dude you can have a saltwater tank there! just go to the reef and catch some fish and corals, take some water and all you need to buy is the tank lighting and filter!
jesus christ. i have had my tank set up for over half a year now. no where near like this. then again, this guy is rich, prob. has metal halide lights, crazy co2 injection and what not. real good substrate as well.
In order to have a beautiful planted tank like this you either must be rich or have nothing else in life to worry about (such as kids, a demanding business or parents living in another state etc)....or both.
@sepehrfarzaneh this was jsut for show and shows u how to plant a fish tank liek they do i dont they well put a fish tank in a white room lol i want my tank like this so bad thor
can you help me? what are your specs? i have a 75 gal tank, a little more than 2 watts per gallon, co2 with inline reactor and ph controller set to around 7.1 to 7.2, bubbles going at 2 drops per sec. lights on 10 hrs a day, i'm getting algae on the glass, and hair algae growing on my plants, and the plants don't look like their growing well and slowly losing color...the substrate is eco complete, and i use liquid ferts every 4 days...what's wrong??? the tank is only 2 weeks old... thank you
Hey can someone help me. So I have a few plants in my tank, and one has some white residue on it, and some of the leaves are a little too dark green. Is it dying? Or is that just algae developing on it. The fish like to swim under it.
So the tank and stand are around $300, filter $125, gravel $75, Rock $55, 15 HC $60, Pogostemon Helferi $40, staurogyne sp $18, Myriophyllum mezianum $25, prosperpinaca palustris $20, 5 SAE's $15, 10 otos $20, 20 snails $35 and finally Caridia multidentata $40 so you're looking at around $800 not including lights, ferts, and chemicals.
Umm i Dont use Co2, Although the plants in my tank kept going yellow so i started using (Seachem Flourish) which made the plants turn green again, The ones that did die have now grown back and spread.
@Light236 He's probably a doctor, specifically, based upon the fact that he is using more than one type of hemostat to prune and plant his plants, I'd say a surgeon.
what is the top layer of soil he starts adding in around 41-52 and man alot of pots i'll go poor trying to set up the foreground, i've seen hemiantnus callitrichoides for $20 a pot in Australia which would cost me about $300 !!!!!! no way.
With a heavily planted tank you don't need to syphon the gravel. The plants will use the fish waste as extra fertiliser and will use it all up.
If there is any gunk settled on top of the plants (it can look ugly) you just wave the syphon above the plants and remove the gunk without disturbing the plants or gravel.
In their other video (for a simple planted tank) they show you how to do it - they run a hose very, very gently into the tank, on top of the rocks rather than on top of the gravel.
Love your aquarium. Looks great. I am a newbie when it comes to aquariums and i would like to know if my progress in my tank is well. Please respond anyone.
Tropica is a plant growing company that sells their plants to the public. So their plants didn't cost them anything! They are so lucky because the rest of us have to pay for ours!
Hi, Wow your videos are just amazing, I was curios, I am having such a hard time growing my plants. I have two T-5 Lights in a 77 gallon Freshwater Community Tank, Fine Sand for Gravel and I leave the lights on about 6-8 hours a day. I keep getting spot algae on all my plants and a little bit of hair algae growing on the leaves and sides of tank. I have 6 Ottos and a 8 inch pleco and a few other species, PLUS I HAVE PLANT GROW FERTILIZER sticks any tips or advice would be amazing thanks! trying!
I've just started my first planted aquarium so I'm no expert. But from what I understand, algae is caused when one of the plants requirements is out of balance with others, i.e. you might have plenty of light but not enough of one some nutrients.
I would suggest doing some research into algae and fertilisation for planted tanks; your plant grow sticks might not have everything that the plants need but more than enough for the algae!
To stop algae I use RO water cos it has no nitrates and phosphates. Use additives to stop pH crashing though. Also Rowaphos in the filter helps. IMHO ancistrus are the best algae eaters. Plecs can't be bothered eating it once they grow and otocinclus though good are a bit delicate. Alge needs 2 things. Light and nutrients. Take one away and it can't thrive. For a planted tank 8-10 hrs is about right.
It depends on the fish. If we are talking SAE (Crossocheilus siamensis) or the Odessa barb (Puntius ticto) I would not hesitate to introduce them just after planting. However, you should always meticulously rinse the plants in order to avoid carry over of excess fertilizer which in high concentrations potentially could harm sensitive fish. This is exactly what Oliver Knott is doing on the movie when he removes stone wool and rinses the roots.

Nice tank!!! Well anyways I have a question regarding planting the plants.
When I start a new tank and put plants in there, would the nitrogen cycle
affect the growth of them. I went to a pet store and the lady told me I should
get PH buffers to get adjust the PH so I can control the ammonia from
killing the plants. Is that true and necessary?? Thank You
