Actually D-Day is a military term, meaning Day-Day, or Day-of-Days, and as a symbol... D-Day means a hell of a lot.
Also, the invasion plans were called Operation Overlord, and they started in June 6th, where 160,000 soldiers were landed in Normandy, by the end of August... 3Million had landed... Tell me that that means nothing.

The Army began using the codes "H-hour" and "D-day" during World War I to indicate the time or date of an operation's start. Military planners would write of events planned to occur on "H-hour" or "D-day" -- long before the actual dates and times of the operations would be known, or in order to keep plans secret. And so the "D" may simply refer to the "day" of invasion.

D-day has nothing to do with WW2. D-day is any day that the U.S (and maybe other nations, I'm not sure) launches a military operation.

pretty sure D-day has almost everything to do with the war....sure the day of many operations is called d-day but this one earned it as an official title..seeing as it is reffered to as D-day more than opertaion overlord or the invasion of Normandy.

So Alot of French, British, German, and American people call it D-Day because its easier than saying Operation Overlord I know its Operation Overlord But WE DONT CALL EVERY MAJOR INVASION D-Day. D-Day is a special D-Day that gave us a chance to take back Europe and it is The Largest Allied Invasion in History So everyone calls it D-Day even Memorial say D-Day. All the rest we Call Operation Desert Storm or somethinf like that (I do respect The Soldiers who participated in Desert Storm). OK!
