I haven't read cupcakes I almost watched the animation but it quickly started looking alot like a nightmare I might have, so I stopped and went somewhere else. Hello, I am a pegasister. I appreciate that someone is trying to draw a line between fans and fangirls/fanboys with this thing. In my opinion, fans are people who love the show and understand the characters and try to portray them properly with their art/stories dedicated to the show. Fanboys/fangirls are people who are more interested in what the fandom has made the characters instead of the beauty of the actual show itself.

I found out about broines a few months ago and thought the whole concept of older men watching a show for girls was weird. So I said that I thought it was weird and all I got was hate. I find that there are basically two sides to every fandom. There is the normal fans that like the show like you and me, then there is the other fans that like it a little too much. Those are the weird fans that are kinda like the pervy uncle that everyone wishes would stay in his room and stop telling the neighbors that we're his nephews because it makes them think that we are all a bunch of sicko freaks that jack off to two cartoon horses fucking.
I also generally liked the "given" personalities to some of the main ponies (mainly Trollestia), because picking out little innuendos here and there is a lot of fun. XD
I agree with most of what you said, but I have to say that I love the more popular background characters. I always thought it was pretty cool to have some random pony in the background somewhere do the most insignificant thing, and just blow up in popularity. Take DJ Pon-3 (Vinyl Scratch). She had a three second appearance and was recognized as OC Weekly’s #1 cartoon DJ. That's awesome.

Except the part about the background characters - Lauren Faust and Co. actually liked how the fans could find the animation error in Derpy's eyes and the small quote in the episode that they actually made "Derpy" her canon name, despite the previous plans to make it "Ditzy." But I agree with you for the most part. I don't follow Rule 34, and I used to despise anyone who followed it. Then I became smart and thought, "LET THEM." Who cares anyways?

Bronies can work hard to make them seem good, or they can not care and some channel will make a big documentary about grown men who fantasize about a little girls show. @CaptchaRescue But the character qualities were sub-par in the other five of the mane six, and the animation techniques were iffy at best.
They made up for it in the Rarity episodes, though. :D <3

Most fandoms have its goods and bads, like ours, theres people who write gore and grimdark fics, and theres other who write with an actual storyline that explains things In their own image to others.

Applejack fans. I'm sorry, I understand you want to see an Applejack episode, but it doesn't mean you go whine on everything about it. Also, I agree Derpy isn't ALL muffins, but I believe it can be possible its what she said. The scene in question is when AJ "helped" Pinkie make the baked bads, so it may be that her being a derp, instead of cupcakes she said muffins. But as you said, shes still not muffin crazy. As for clop art, Bronies should look at Furries. Use them as an example...

@BillieDAwesomes ...of what the fandom can become. TLC was already looking at Bronies for a "My Strange Addiction" episode. Bronies can work hard to make them seem good, or they can not care and some channel will make a big documentary about grown men who fantasize about a little girls show. Fox News already compared them to grown adults who live their lives as babies, diapers, crib and all. I know Bronies will hate to admit it, but the two fandoms are very much the same.

@wolvesRsmexy I just mean the sexual aspect shouldn't be as overt considering that MLP characters are, more or less, ferals and wouldn't be as well-understood as regular anthro creatures.

@wolvesRsmexy True but not. I've come to believe that "Furry" is just a self desired label. No more than any other fandom. An average person may enjoy watching MLP on TV, but does it make them a brony? Or if a person watched some anime every now and then, are they an otaku?

Luckily, I find MLP:FiM to be a good show even without the fandom, so I'm stickin' around. :D

Inmy opinion, its like: hey, the fandom is quite creative. giving entire stories for characters. i think with the cupcakes and grimdark part, is that many fans like to see the worldvof my little pony if it were in the real world. i do enjoy the grimdsrk part as far as violence and such, but pr0nies can be just creepy. but my point here basically is, hey. let the fandom be what it wants to be. you can choose to acknowledge certain parts or not. Oh, and also, First!
