Stranto you should put in a smaller jets on the carb. There is more oxygen in ethanol. You need to adjust accordingly. And you can get more performance out of your engine. Just a thought. I can give you more information if you like on sizing the jets.
I been lookn for some Mash videos to do what Iv wanted to for a long time And Make me a Syill, I look forward to clickn on the other videos you got. Thanks for your foot work.
@strantor Back in the 1950s-1960s thay made a carbartor that gave 100 miles to the gallon but it would burn up valves in 20-30 min. The air fuel mix was to lean maken the burn to hot for the valves. Ethanol burns hotter thin gas but less explosive but be worned Ethanol brakes down rubber faster thin gas.1st. I would replace the intake valve with a exhaust valve thay have more carbine and can takes more heat. 2nd I would open up the intake jet to give more fuel. 3rd. I would us a 2 cycle mix.
my father made corn alcohol he used cracked corn, water, sugar and yeast. then he attached a funnel on the top of a old pressure cooker. and copper tubing for cooling coils. that was the still of course, then after letting the corn ferment he cooked in in the still many times until it ran clear as water. drop me a line if you have any questions , be glad to help. bob and vangie.
Well its a good practical test to start with, we all saw what you did and its accurate enough for me at this point.
Thanks for the excellent work, I like your approach, onto the next part!

I hope you don't burn a valve.

Is that something I need to watch out for? What would cause a valve to burn & how can I prevent it?
strantor 2 years ago
I'm no expert by no means but I think alcohol burns hotter than gasoline so you may have to get a cooler burning spark plug.
