came across this page again but when I hear this salesman say the car is BUILT by SUPERFORMANCE it makes me sick how uninformed he is. As much as I love Superformance they are only the distributer of the HyTeck Cobra so professionally hand built in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The only other builder of sucjh High Quality Cobras built to this standard. is Kirkum Cobra in UTAH. USA
I understand that this is an iconic American car... I am an all American muscle car lover believe me. And I have the upmost respect for this vehicle... but how is it a muscle car? yeah it has a big v8... yeah it's American. But honestly it looks European... It doesn't even look like muscle to me. I thought the point when Carroll Shelby built this was for it to be a sports car. I wouldn't describe it as muscle
@msbaugh440 It`s realy a euro/us car. The drivetrain is american but the car itself is originaly british. So is the Ford GT40, originaly a Lola but Ford bought the Lola company.
it looks European because it is. Every orginal Cobra was built by AC cars in Thames Ditton England. Most were shipped to the US for Shelby to add the engine and trans although some were sold by AC in Europe under chassis numbers COX and COB rathern than CSX.
The car was Shelby's inspiration, he made the trip to the UK to put the deal together, but its a shame that most people think this car is "all-American". Its actually a great exmaple of Anglo-American co-operation.
@msbaugh440 I agree that it is more a sports car than a muscle car. To me a muscle car is born when you take a two door, four seater production car, strip it down, and put a powerful V8 into it. This is a two seater built on an English chassis.. it's a sports car.
Kit Cobra is about $13,000 for the car and then you need to find the drive system best fit for that is late 80's early 90's mustang. So about total $20.000 depends on motor and how much you really want it to be original
You can build a big block for $3k, buy a transmission for $3500 that can handle a built big block, all the little odds and ends to get it done...you're looking at almost $10k besides the full kit...13k for the basic kit so you need the axle, brakes, wheels and tires....so $30-40k for a big block FFR. Superformance comes complete without engine and tranny and it's more than 13k, I'll tell you that.
gee, thats a nice one. Rather have a factory 5 though. Good video. Guardsman blue is correct. The narrator mentioned white Lemans stripes. Should be mentioned as wimbeldon white.
The factory five is totally a kit car and nothing like the Superformance The stripes are white. Wimbleton White is like Vanilla. Been painting cars for fourty years...
Is that close to the Bristol type interior? I am pretty sure that Mr. Shelby designed the early ones after the english Bristol? "The kids at Bristol are sharp as a pistol, when they do the Bristol stomp......whoa, whoa!!"
I was just watching the news right now. And they were showing a shot of a bunch of sports cars gathering together at the Bev Hills Hotel for the Bullrun. There were all these high end sports cars, lambos, astons, etc but that lil cobra that i saw, stood out the most.
Thats the rumble we love..fking gay

@msbaugh440 It's not a muscle car technically, and it IS European. Lotus designed it, Shelby perfected it.
