Pretty impressive pictures and pretty clever tune to use for it - although seeing where it comes does not help to make it feel more fitting ;-) (Thank goodness I never played Rambo that much on my C64, so I am not prejudiced against the music :-) )
why you didnt steal that helicopter ....That would Be so Fun ....a guy flying around the reactors saying "you cant beat me Radioactivety"!!!!then he fall down because the deposit of fuel have a small whole created during the fly because radiation lol ...
It wouldnt work - theres a reason all that equipment is on the ground - none of it works - alot of the helicopters rushed to the scene of the chernobyl powerplant to dump concrete etc suddenly had parts not working (some of the radiation must of knocked out some of the particles so the machines wouldn't work properly) and they would proceed to crash.
Priypat is not that bad as I have had a friend visit the area last year he say's like all the other's it's to dangerous to live there for a long time but small visits are ok , you are however told not to touch any of the moss on the ground etc.
Did your friend make any posts on You Tube? I think all of the videos and pictures of people that visited Prypiat are really well done. Seems to be a forgotten story in the United States...can't find any news reports from 1986!
When my friend visited that area, there was some reporters from New York Times who did a story about it. This was a couple of years ago. Might be wirth checking that out. Also, there is a couple of documentaries on this subject which you might find interesting as they have video footage shot back in 86
@prowokator Thanks!!! I researched books on the Chernobyl accident and there were hundreds...goodness me!!! I have LOTS to read! Most of the folks I have spoken to are quite young...20 something...and live in Europe. Like I said before, it's quite a forgotten story in the US. Thanks for keeping this story alive.
The version i have been taught is something like this...
They run ran a test, and the reactors construction (the type of reactor) made it very instable when running with very low effect. The boss responsible for the test that day disregarded this, and when the reactor started to act up he ordered a complete shut down - which only made the reactor (because of it's design) to run out of control.
Had they instead increased the effect at the first warning signals, they might have saved it.
The design of the Chernobyl power plant, and many others nuclear power plants in former UdSSR where known to be unstable, this was a calculated risk. The reactor used graphite rods to moderate the reaction and light water (ordinary H2O "tap water") as coolant. Biggest benefit of this design is that it allows for the use of crude natural uranium as fuel (no need for enriched uranium). But the design is also notoriously unstable at low effect.
Sorry, i think i totally misunderstood your question.
Biggest reason buildings, roads and other constructed surfaces is not so dangerous anymore is because the radiation does not stick to, or get absorbed in to these surfaces/materials so easy, the soil absorbed most of the radiation and now the grass, plants, trees, animals and u.s.w. absorbs the radiation from the soil. This can also be observed inside buildings where there is growing moss, radiation can be very high in these local spots.
midi music just doesn't....... aaaahh fit i dont know but it makes me fell like you think htis was a happy thing. this was a horrible traggity so many people die and lost there home. people were only allowed to bring 1 suitcase. most of the people who survived have cancer and can't touch petoral. it was 2 day till that amusment park opened and a big celibration and it was all the soviets fault. even the KGB said that the reator was unsafe but noting could get in the way of the program
First of all, this isn't midi music. Reading the description of the video would have revealed that. The music isn't (atleast not in my opinion) "happy". Please don't mix your personal feelings with a video that is supposed to be informative. I appreciate your comment and I see that you have knowledge of the facts. Main reason why I used this music is that it deserves acknowledgement - and so do the pictures of this horrible disaster so people will remember it, and hope it will never happen again
yes and no.. I'm not sure if SID chip counts as a MIDI device. For me, midi music means something different than sid music. That's why I said this isn't midi music, as it doesn't sound like the midi music used to on PCs. I must say that I'm not really interested in the technical side of this matter.. just play the effin tunes :D (there are good midi tunes too)
Martin Galway is a God. His compositions on the Commodore 64 are incredible. I still own my C64 and occassionaly use it to listen to the music of all those games and demos. I guess that if you aren't used to listening to this type of computer music that it may sound noisy.
Interesting fact regarding the intro of this particular composition: the beeps in the beginning are supposed to represent Morse code.
Thank you for making this video and using this fantastic music!
Well, back in the day, it was top notch in computer gaming. But I understand some don't like it. That's why you can turn the volume down ;) Hope you liked the pictures though?

my question is how come the power plant is more safe than the other areas
2346 3 years ago

There is a subtle irony in using Martin Galway's "Rambo" tune. When Paul Norman actually wrote a score for "Chernobyl" on the C64.
