  • Clem Burke is the best drummer of his generation.

  • Did any other band come close to being as big as Blondie was in 1979 in the UK?

  • @wichrau

    Nah it wasn't musically-shitty.

  • 'Sunday girl' is a cat that "Sunday Boy" (a cat) chased after.

    Chris wrote this for Deb.

  • Blondie were the Beatles of late 70's new wave with brigitte bardot as lead singer.

  • Love this! Has she ever performed the french part of this song live? can't find it anywhere. She is definately the Queen of the late 70's and early 80's music.

  • what? the bag pipes are amazing! good to see two different styles collaborate and they actually pull it off! kudos to Blondie! and Clem Burke is one of my favorite drummers ever!

  • Five thousand teenage boys receiving thier first bonners!!!!

  • I love this song and Blondie, but ugh.....effing bag pipes.

  • Gawd! Harry looks like walking death here! Except for Burke, can you say "Mail it in"?

  • I saw this tour, at The Hammersmith Odeon. It was my first gig, I was 9. I will never forget it all my life and am soooo proud to say I was there. Jimmy Destri was my first crush! Debbie Harry was and is a LEGEND and I can't wait to see her again this year at Camp Bestival!

  • Great song. Video director and editor should be shot, though.

  • Look at the drummer w the golden suit wow...

  • My mum went to this gig when she was in school. She said it was great. I would give an arm and a leg to be there. Blondie are so good!

  • Man this opening gives me big time goosebumps. I want Debs to be my Sunday Girl.

  • Remember this concert, that dress, the bagpipes, fabulous, I wish I was young again.

  • I love you DEBBIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.......

  • At 2:10 Debbie has her scarf... at 2:11 it is GONE!......I didn't know Ms. Harry was a magician too!!!

I guess if the music scene doesn't work out, she has her other talent. Childrens birthday parties. "Hire Debbie... the HOT magician!" "Fun for kids and adults......

  • who r the 3 pipers lucky cunts

  • who r the 3 pipers lucky cunts

  • I wish I had a scarf which randomly vanished :P

  • Who wouldn't want to kiss that beautiful mouth? What a doll..........

  • this makes the hair on the back of my neck stick up brilliant what a band luv it

  • One of the best live show ever recorded and what a sensational version of Sunday Girl. Well done the BBC.

  • wow !!!!!! sings it better live than recorded....

  • me encanta la musica de blondie

  • I love Sunday Girl. I really wish this had not been cut short.

  • I was there the night before. Incredible gig.

  • @Dentakulator

I was there Amazing, remember having to try and get home before the bells , oh those were the day BRILL !!!

  • WOW THANKS FOR POSTING THIS I WAS A 15 YEAR OLD MOD AT THIS GIG, ABSOLUTELY CAN'T BELIEVE THIS FINDING THIS, FANTASTIC!!!

  • Love this...Thanks for a video :)))

  • this is bbc crown jewels.....does anyone know if I could find this for sale?

  • Was this The Old Grey Whistle Test on New Years Eve/Hogmany ?

  • @shankly115 It was at the Glasgow Apollo (no longer there)

  • The last good music was punk...it sucks today...bring back punk and creativity.

  • this night and this moment was the perfect end to the 70's

  • great drummer

  • I'm only 16 so when I saw Blondie live she was old. amazing to think she used to look that hot. Anyone from the 70's you need to realise how lucky you are, all this great music whereas I've been brought up with Gaga shit and that awful Maria song. I know loads of people like that one, I don't get why. Nothing is Real was much better

  • @BigBulgeCheeks If 'Maria' had been on 'Parallel Lines' back in '78, you would think differently of it. 'Maria' is as Blondie as it gets.

  • @earthshine2k i actually used to think maria was an old one, didnt stop me from disliking it.

  • It's amazing that at their height they could have played stadiums but always refused and opted for the smaller theater venues. They were always thinking of their fans over the money they could have made. That's integrity and class!

  • so this is where madonna got her into the grove idea from!

  • wow - i remember listening to this gig on radio one i was a kid when it happened ... never thought i'd get to see the footage - BIG thanks posting - go blondie! no one has come close to debbie harry's coolness since this era. i saw her and the the band in bristol a couple of years a go. one of my MOST favorite gigs of all time. love it!

  • They are playing "Sunday Girl." On the Bagb-pipes.

  • @holluschickie

    I know - and it's fantastic!

  • What dvd is this?

    Thanks =)

  • Yeh rite - nothing exciting ever happens. It's not like a fucking band of bagpipers walks across the stage and starts playing or anything...

  • @wichrau

I think Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac did a good job of that as well.

  • clem burkes one of the most underated drummers

  • @nick1137 Sadly thats because a select few like Keith Moon and John Bonham got into groups that were considerered "the best" and so they get all the credit for being amazing drummers. Not saying Zep and Who are bad but you know they sadly take all the credit for amazing drums when people like Clem Burke, Mel Taylor, Tommy Rammone, and others get nothing for their talents

  • @nick1137 Correct one of the best

  • @nick1137 Clem Burke , kills it, i have been practicing "dreaming for a month, he is just killing it, and the visual's with the stick release, Clem Burke, is one of the best drummer's i have ever seen !

  • I just saw Blondie on Halloween night and Debbie Harry still looks and sounds great. And Clem Burke can still drum like mad.

  • She currently lives in my town & works out at the local gym where my daughter works! She still looks great believe me.

  • sure she does

  • she lives right down the road from me.I'm not making this up...why wud i do that?Whatever...

  • Whoaa it is cut off, isn't it?

I used to have an audio recording of this concert and it certainly went all the way to the end of this song (which was the last song of the broadcast) - I remember Debbie acknowledging the pipe band by name. I think the reason they cut the end of this song off for the DVD is that the video recording had all the credits on it and they couldn't edit them out.

  • I'm gonna take a guess and say that this is in Scotland?

  • oooooooohhhh bagpipes!!!!!!!!!

scotland is the best. and debbie is too.

  • cool bagpipes lol

    such a good performance :D

  • bagpipes.. great..

she is fit though.. i mean sure, shes 40 years too old for me, and shes wearing yellow with pink stripes and a tartan scarf, but she is fit.. lol

  • Reminds me of the Stonehenge dwarfs scene in Spinal Tap.

  • Madonna Straight up ripd this off....What the Fuu...

  • she's so pretty!

    =D

  • I Like Sweaty Blondies!

  • I love Blondie but hate sweaty socks and bagpipes!

    Special stuff though!

  • I read somewhere that she found out that her ethnic background was Scottish. I don't think she ever met her biological parents but she found out just enough to figure out her background. If she is Scottish I have to say she is one GORGEOUS piece of Scottish specimen!

  • to those who were there ,you lucky bastards, oops

  • Wow! What a look. Thanks so much for posting Kjinphx2003.

  • Blondie did a good job keeping true to the studio harmony of this song. I love her.

  • the beat reminds me of Beckenbauer for some odd reason lmao

  • for me Blondie was so much more than Chris or Debbie. Clem was an early influence on my drumming and Frankie Infante is essentially the equivalent of Ace Frehley of KISS in that his own unique sound and style are so integral to who Blondie is, they are not the same band without him. without Clem and Frankie, it's not the same. so thx to whomever for posting these older vidz of the Real Blondie, not just some band named after Blondie with a couple members.

  • And what about Jimmy Destri, the Farfisa-and-Polymoog-meister ? I didn't go to see Blondie the last time because Jimmy wasn't with them.

  • Did you say that in this video Jimmy doesn't appear?? I suppose that in 2:39 he is there.

I also think that Jimmy is one of the most important things that this band has.

  • No, I didn't talk about the video, I was talking of now. And I agree that Jimmy is the man. :-) I'm a big fan of his.

  • yeah, i really miss him in Blondie's recents shows.

  • Blondie and Deborah Harry, the best band and singer in the known universe.

  • Got to be The Glasgow Apollo, I lived in that place!

  • Saw them in 1979 in the States.....she was great, so gorgeous! Loved this album. I wonder how much of the times she performed high.

My dad came to pick us up after the concert and looked inside her limo........stocked bar and he saw her reach for the hooch.... No, I didn't witness this, but the concert was great!

  • wey...hey...I was there...remember it well...life does't get much better, does it??

    In Scotland, anyway..

    eleanor

  • beatiful girl :)

  • idiot! she´s always beautyful she can do what she want, she wear what she want she is jus perfect as she wants!!! poor bastards no comments about my baby.

  • i'm glad that someone will acknowledge that she is not perfect. not vocally or looks-wise.

  • absolutely the best of that late 70's new-wave/punk movement!!!

  • you can say that again

  • I just absolutely love this song! :)

  • Yeah look who gets to be on STAGE with Her!!!!

Not such sh*tty wan*ers after all.

At least they have something to remember! and they got PAID for it!!

    You idiot

  • arhhhhhhh macccccy, you taken that one to heart have you? fellow bag piper yourself i assume?

come on, quit yo jibba jabba and stop playing that annoying bag of air

  • shes a babe, great tune

  • what dvd? i MUST have it

i loveeee blondie and sunday girl

  • S C O T L A N D

    Best crowds.

Proper ROAR, no like your namby pamby, shandy-drinkin southerners.

  • It's cut off because the original broadcast was part of "Old Grey Whistle Test" and they rolled the credits at that point. The DVD producers didn't realise we'd like to see the whole performance dispite the captions!

  • One of my favorite Blondie songs (obviously), great video, thanks kjinphx2003 for sharing!

  • That was well good!! Clem was gettin right into it with the uptempo beats and the crowd sounded brill at the start. That's the Scots for ya!

  • they were singin "There's only one debbie harry"

    Too richt.

  • Anyone know where I can buy the video?

  • She can sing

  • I have the full video and have to admit it was a good gig but with some lack of energy that usually Blondie can push in live set. Debbie also sounded entaggling and really tired because they had scheduled to come back home for end of year. More tecnical problems and the fact that was an added date at the end of their UK tour, that wasn't their best performance ever, although it's great to have that from 1979 on video.

  • "entaggling..." wtf?

  • Okay,okay... probably that expression doesn't exist...not yet. ^J^... I just meant Debbie sounded kinda embarassed and made mess here and there, especially at the start of a couple of songs. But that Sunday Girl is okay.

  • In Making Tracks Debbie talks about this gig. Some of the songs were put in at the request of the BBC and the band hadn't even rehearsed them for the tour!

  • Interesting tempo

  • love Debbie's little tartan scarf! Man shes out of it - check her eyes in the closeups, probably hit the lines before she came on!

  • you're right. But these eyes seems like from a really exhausted Debbie.

  • What DVD is this concert available on? I remember watching a televised concert in the late 70's, could be the same one, and I'd love to own it on DVD. I've got the farewell concert but it's not a patch on this era!

  • You know, alot of times a performer feels the need to hop and sashay around like some discodancer on coke. I thought Debbie's casual coolness on stage was perfect for the music. Oh, that, and he's the all time mega hottie.

  • wooooooow Ilove you, Debby you are very very precius.

    Thanks for video.

  • glasgow,king city of live music :)

  • Magic! Seriously scary that this was nearly 30 years ago and this was my ultimate favourite song back in 1979.

  • This was from a TV broadcast and they rolled the credits due to scheduling. I would have thought they'd have kept the cameras rolling and given the full perfomrance on the DVD. Blondie also opened the concert with X Offender prior to it going live on TV which has Dreaming as the opener. The concert was badly filmed and lacks the energy and atomosphere you get at a Blondie gig.

  • I can't believe the end is cut on the DVD. Grrr!

  • was this concert in scotland i take it?!

  • Yes, it was a New Year's Eve gig.

  • Apollo Theatre in Glasgow.

  • oooooooooh those were the days. debbie is sooo cool and clem burke is the best drummer. just like keith moon. blondie forever. thanks

  • What a great entrance :o) wish I was there ...

  • god shes so sexy wish i could meet her just to say thanks

  • Yes jsp1969, she is sexy and if you go to see her in concert, you might get to meet her, like I did once. ;-)

  • i have this dvd too,and i got soooo angry when i saw the cruel way they cut this wonderful version of this song.i also love when the camera turns to the scottish audience during the concert, young kids jumping up and down!

  • holy fuck that was cool

  • Hahhaha, tempo's all over the place. :-D

I remember Deb's talking about this version (with the bagpipes) years ago! It's so nice to finally hear it. It is too bad they cut it off though.

  • I have this DVD! Its so awesome! Its a shame that Sunday Girl is sort of cut off at the end of it!:(

  • Where's the rest :(
