@bandman232 lol how so? The HK91/G3 design was a licensing of the CETME, which in turn was a descendant of rifles created by mauserworks during WWII. The FAL is based on a piston-operating rod tilt bolt combo that had already been pioneered by other companies long before its creation. They're both good weapons but (apart from both being 7.62x51mm) they seem to have developed autonomously and have little to do with one another.
So who makes those 30 round magazines, the South Africans? Is there any other country that makes high capacity rounds for this rifle? By the way, what powder load did u use? U seem to be able to control that recoil a little bit too well...
@Frankdude72 OK, then how are the American made ones? Do they have the same feeding problem? What about the 50 round drum ones? Do they feed reliably?
About the powder loads, how hot are the loads that you're using?
don't buy a cheaperthandirt 30 round mag unless you can fix the feeding issues that come with them. They will work well with a little modification but without it most of them never feed properly.
@Frankdude72 I dont think I would have bee so polite in my anwsers. I would have told all the haters where to go and how to get there. You are a better man then I, keep shooting dude!
yep! Get an M4 and you're good to go! After you break it in. And field strip it frequently. And finish screwing around with uppers and lowers and accessories. And learn how to do all of those things if you're new to guns. Then you're good to go. Assuming you've selected the right ammo. Whatever type of .223Rem/5.56mmNATO. Or 6.5 Grendel. Or .50 Beowulf and whatever calibers an M4 can be converted to. THEN you're good to go.
very nice rifle, do procy for me but i just picked up a H&K parts kit built on a PTR receiver buy Arizona reasponse..hasnt gotten here yet but im hoping it will by monday =]
as for the bayo thing lol no it doesnt help...the only thing it does is scare librals =] im sure your great vid had one hiding under his desk crying like a baby
If you mean the rifle, it was about $2K, which was the going market rate at the time. Got it at Knob Creek in Fall 2002 and had it shipped to a local dealer. HK91s are all over the place, you just have to look.
If you meant the mag, I got it from sum mag vendor I found in Shotgun News years back. That's the South African made one, and I discovered you have to download it by 2 (which you should anyway) to enable it to feed. Can't remember what I paid, but was during the Clinton ban, and it wasn't cheap. Again, patience and lots of internet searching should eventually yield you one.
I call FAL rip off.

@StiviGun1 Those were South African. I have some American made ones as well.
The South African's wouldn't feed unless I downloaded to 27-rnds.
If you really, desperately need high caps, there are some Us-made versions of the HK 50-rounders floating around now.
Best to stick with 20s for serious use though.
The ammo I'm using is either Georgia Arms factory .308 reloads or (more likely) Portuguese surplus NATO loaded 7.62X51mm.

@StiviGun1 Haven't shot the USA made 30s or 50s, so I couldn't tell you.
No idea how hot the loads are.
But the Portuguese NATO stuff is going to be a normal load like you'd encounter from any regular military surplus rounds.

how come none of these douse bags know how to shoot yet they act all high speed and shit
pinosguns 2 years ago
Not sure what a "douse bag" [sic] is.
Amazingly enough, I'll still answer your question somewhat politely.
Marksmanship fundamentals are but one of the many skills that are part of gun handling.
Plenty of other stuff to work on besides sitting at a bench and fawning over the tight groups you slowly put on paper.
Never claimed to be a great shot, BTW.
But if you **pay attention**, you'll hear I was discovering the shots were going high, and changed the hold over on the front sight.

You gotta get that to go full auto.

Lol, I doubt it helps. I just put it on because I tfigured most people hadn't seen an HK91 shot with a mounted bayonet. No other reason.

alright that helps a lot. thanks much!
