  • um it was relative to the time. Its not like they mad 8 dollars an hour.

  • Strong voice! I remember this song well when I was in 8th grade!!

  • My cousin, Wayne. Just kidding. When this song came out, all my classmates thought we were related because we have the same last name. Also, Elvis' drummer was D.J. Fontana, but that's another story. ;)

  • This guy make a tambourine cool.

  • Erinnert mich an meine Bundeswehrzeit 1965 in Bergzabern.War ne schöne Zeit

    Wilfried

    Jahrgang 1944

  • He looks frighteningly similar to bo burnham

  • This is great! They sound so good!

  • they fucked all those little girls, that was the purpose of this music

  • eric stewart of 10cc fame on lead guitar

  • Anyone know the chords for "It's just a little bit too late"? I found about 1 million hits with lyrics from google but no chords. It sounds like it begins on Amaj, and the solo is over Emaj I think, but that's all I can figure. They change too fast to pickup.

  • Wow do I ever miss the 60's. I rap crap so much.

Nothing will ever equal the 60's as the best musical era ever, IMO.

  • FAB gROUP ONE OF THE SIXTIES BEST EVER. FAB. XXXXXXX

  • Its too bad but the bass drops out at 1:15 so you can't hear that famous bass riff at 1:54, bummer.

  • Say it aloud! The purpose of a man is to love a woman and the purpose of a woman is to love a man!!!

  • Yeah, it´s really a time travel....back to the mid 60s. I love the Mindbenders.

If you want to go back to 1965 please listen to THE ZETTLERS and the tunes "Beautiful Delilah" and "Skinnie Minnie". Mindbenders and Zettlers are playing in the Premier Leage

  • Wayne should have reached bigger heights in a crowded field.

  • @debiedog1 i think he thougt that when left the mindbenders

  • @MrOld1964 I agree, what a pity he didn't make it but neither did a lot of others.

  • I really love "the game of love", and I like the band as well. But I can't help being annoyed when he sings "the purpose of a man is to love a woman". SAYS WHO?! men love men, women love women, men love women, women love men.

Every love is good love. Keep lovin' eachother!

  • block rockin' beats

  • keith fordyce! wow!!! sorry, he was the presenter at the start, he also compered ready steady go in the sixties.

  • love his sense of humor!

    whooooooaaaaahh!

  • Great to hear this again after all these years. When they recorded it, none of them could manage the low "luv" bit, so in desperation they drafted in Cliff Hall from the Spinners who were in another studio. He asked what was in it for him and was told that if it went to No 1, he would get £1000. It reached No 2 but made No 1 in America. Sadly for Cliff that didn't count and he never got his money!

  • Love this

  • La-la-la-la-la-love!!!!

  • great sond great name fontana

  • wow, finally! the search is over... i first heard this from the movie "Something to talk about" back in 90's and im probably 8yo then, but this song totally stuck in my head

  • love this song! brings back lots of great memories! a true classic!

when i was searching for this song stumbled upon a funny short anime

where adam says to eve baby you're for me in so many words after their first encounter. ck it out eve and adam first time

  • É de arrepiar...

  • A little while ago, about 30years ago, I was the bass player in Dave Berry`s backing band, yes I was a cruiser. Wayne was on the same bill on one gig and he was like dave selling his albums. My then wife managed to blag a signed album from Wayne

which I have not seen since

  • @306bad- do you mean you haven't seen the wife, or the album?

  • Dit is echte muziek!!!

  • het is goed

  • I WISH I COULD TIME TRAVEL. I would go back there and throw away the key

  • Now this is music. I wish I were a teenager then, instead I was concieved to this music! lol I prefer to listen to this stuff for sure!

  • thank you for this!

    whoooooooaaaaaaaaahhhhh!

  • It's depressing being young and putting up with the rubbish that's in the charts now!! I LOVE Wayne Fontana!! I met him at The Solid Silver 60's show in 09 and he told me I was the youngest person he'd seen there!! lol!! I'd rather see him live than Justin Bieber any day!! Long live 60s music!!

  • I'm just crazy about the hair!

  • 45 years!!!Excellent!!!

  • The words are so simple, poignant and seriously cool.

  • @malohroquii

Yes indeed until the political correct gay nazi police ban the song : D

begs the question if you broadcast loudly from a moving vehicle during a gay pride parade would that be inciting to riot? Or would the Political Correct police reclassify it as "Hate Speech" - just pointing out the idiocy of the times. : P

  • @nyrainbow2 awsome channel. i really like the NME videos.

  • Don't despair Daniel, keep it alive by watching and listening and letting others know about it.

  • Don't despair Daniel, keep it alive by watching and listening and letting others know about it, my hope is that music will heal itself

  • and the purpose of a song is to promote heteronormativity...haha love this song though

  • Pure Class

  • Watching this video, you can only imagine all these kids getting into these concerts for only $2/$3 a show. I wish I were alive during those times. When songs written actually meant something and people played an instrument. So sad when the Eagles tickets go for $250+ dollars and people are willing to pay that money.

If only I was getting old now, and lived through this stuff rather than being 25 watching videos of classic rock on youtube.

  • @DanielSchmidt94521 Your comment on The Game of Love song is really awesome for someone your age. Many people your age have no awareness of the changes in lifestyle over the years.I am sure you are special and will have a satisfying life. You will survive anything. You are smart. : )

  • I started listening to an Oldies station back when in 1993 when I was 12 & I consider it a musical eduction...

  • Comment removed

  • Fanflamintastic! another favorite of mine :)

  • Just came back from costa blanca and met wayne and watched his show .

    Classic .

  • Top notch.

  • kinda looks like kelso @ some angles

  • Love it! He still tours.

  • Just look at those beatniks with their crazy clothes, long hair and loud hep cat music. I just don't know whats wrong with kids these days!

  • Well yeyeah

  • Nice Clean Video! - - looks like it was filmed yesterday!

  • Great footage and i'd like to play a game of love with these guys ;-)

  • Amazing! Never heard the second song before. I have just begun researching Wayne and the boys since I realized they sang that wicked sone Game of Love. Awesome group!

  • I wish the sound quality was better but this is still fun to watch. Sound is good for the voice and guitar but the drums and bass are almost inaudible during the vocals.

I saw these guys open for Freddie and the Dreamers in 1966. They should have been the headliners, not Freddie. They were a much better band.

  • This looks to me as if The Brittish Invasion has been brought back to The Brittish Shores again.....Wayne does very much look like Gene Clark from The Byrds, same hair, same looks, same appearance......even the same tambourine...... allthough it's hard to tell which brand is which... there ain't no Fender or Gibson or Rickenbacker tambourine as far as I know......anyhow, great band....is that Eric Steward on lead guitar?

  • im gonna build a time machine and when I get back to those wonderful 60s' I will never leave . its where I belong ... great groups and great music ..The Great British Invasion will live on forever .. thanx my friend for posting this smashing video ... Lyndloo..

  • 60's rock is still rocking all these years. love this song

  • my last name is Fontana :D

  • i saw him tonight performing in a pub in spain.

  • nice hair

  • Oh my gosh :O look at all the people lol. I love this song!

  • I was born several decades too late.

  • Hmmm, in the Kinks' set, it almost seems as though Ray's guitar was just too loud, I guess they were late coming in, I love watching these shows, wish we had something here in the states like this nowadays...

  • love the "woooooooooooooo" background vocals!

    whoooaaaaahhhh!

  • Oh yes. This was a super dance song back in 65. It was the college rock... and it was the the love song for beach goers.

  • Too bad that some of these bands on the NME-65 were so poorly mixed. The kinks really got screwed at this show. if only people realized that there was more to british music than the beatles and the stones.

  • Rock on Wayne !! .

  • What a great & beautiful footage! A great sound too!! Never saw this one! Love it!! Thank you very much for adding!!

  • Brilliant drumming on the last song -

    almost heavy metal!

  • He looks like John Lennon from the side shots

  • I FEEL THE NEED TO TIME TRAVEL

  • @AZRWSJ We can never go back to 1965...

And the seasons they go round and round

And the painted ponies go up and down

We're captive on the carousel of time

We can't return we can only look

    Behind from where we came

And go round and round and round

    In the circle game.

  • @AZRWSJ - Me, Too!

  • @AZRWSJ - your in luck i have one flux capacitor left. ill even throw in a free set of blueprints

  • @AZRWSJ I with you , take me back, iwanna go back

  • Future 10CC frontman, Eric Stewart on guitar! He's on the right, on guitar, not on bass.

  • @laslo43 Right. Bob Lang is the bassist, and that's Ric Rothwell playing drums.

  • This was a brilliant band, however short-lived. Their debut album is excellent, as are single tracks such as "Road Runner" and "Too Much Monkey Business". "The Game Of Love" was a US #1.

  • 4:57

    Hahahah

    Wayne Fontana And The MindBenders!!!!!!!

  • grande fontana

  • Wayne Fontana is actually wearing the suit of famed Scottish psychiatrist Dr. Charles Follen McKim Maloney. Mr. Fontana suffered a wardrobe malfunction prior to his appearance here and the quickest solution was to borrow the doctor's suit. Dr. Maloney had to wear Nancy Sinatra's hotpants and white leather jacket during the entire performance!

  • Dr Charles Follen McKim Maloney was very interested in Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders, as he discovered that Mr Fontana and his band were indeed mindbenders. The Mindbenders were said to be able to bend the mind of all but the most self assured. Unfortunately Mr. Fontana ended up with a permanently bent mind. As a result of this Mr Fontana couldnt turn right, he could only turn left. This lead to many problems for him, not least of which was getting stuck on a French motorway for a month.

  • So damn cute <3

  • Come on baby, let's play the game of love. Then let's get serious...

  • wow - what an audience!!! their applause is infectious. great performance!!!

  • Great stuff!!!! Love the 60s!

  • Wayne was so cute!!

  • Great quality footage, and no lip sync!

  • DRUMS... DAAAMN!!!!

  • Wayne Fontana will be appearing in Eastbourne on 28th October 2009 with another sixties group - The Dakotas - if anyone wants a chance to see him in the flesh.

  • how old is he now ? :)

  • Quite a lot older than he is in this clip I'll wager!

  • Is it me or was'nt this band a trio?

  • Love this video, I had a wicked crush on this guy when I was a young girl, thanks for posting this video

  • NME has got to be one of the greatest things on Television that i was too young experience =(

I was made in the 80's, and i love this music!

  • I have just seen him in Norwich, he was FANTASTIC, but i never new he was this sexy in the 60's, WOW!!!!

  • I never ever imagined wayne fontana looked like this, he looks so young

  • Je découvre.. j'ADORE !

  • Tout à fait d'accord!

moi aussi, j'ai découvert Wayne Fontana & The Minbenders grace à une pub à la télé française...

Depuis, j'ai acheté l'album CD sur internet.

    SUPER.

  • going to see him at the playhouse

  • Wayne Fontana continues to tour the UK annually . On stage he as humourous as they come and off stage is as nice and down to Earth person you would wish to meet

  • saw Wayne Fontana live in Chatham on Saturday night. He was funny as hell. Great song.

  • Is that Roman Polanski I see on drums? These guys were cool!

  • What happened to that cool bass line? Is the bassist afraid he's gonna muff it? I'll bet the ladies wet their seats over these guys. Wayne really blew it.

  • He's playing it, but unfortunately the audio is a direct mix from the sound board, and board mixes always sound crappy.

  • what is the name of the first song?

  • Saw Wayne tonight...He was magic

  • I cant believe these guy are grandparents now!!!

  • Always loved this song!

    Kathy

  • Sadly these days Wayne Fontana is now 2 boosters short of a Saturn 5.

  • The beatles were at this show too

  • great to see eric stewart future 10cc member

  • you can see him in To Sir With Love as well.

  • Not quite. You can see the band, The Mindbenders. Fontana had left the band prior to that.

  • what are you talking about?

    read what halidayinn wrote.

I was referring to ERIC STEWART. He was in the movie To Sir With Love.

So, don't tell me "not quite".

  • I thought you were referring to Wayne Fontana, OK? No need to have a hissy fit. Enjoy the video, it's great.

  • what a great band, and im a drummer. What a great drummer these guys have!

  • Yes, it's that distinctive drum intro to "The Game of Love' that really grabs you.

  • Where's his accent from?

That's probably extremely poorly worded, but I'm sure you get it. :]

  • they were a Manchester band

  • Great video. You don't hear "It's Just A Little Too Late" anymore, but I like it even better than "Game Of Love."

  • Ditto. An overlooked 60s hit.

  • FOR EVER AND AVER THEY ARE ALWAYS AND WILL ALWAYS BE MY NUMBER ONE SIXTIES GUYS. wAYNE IS FAB THE MINDBENDERS FAB . ERIC STEWART ACE. XXXX

  • Thank you so much nyrainbow2. I always get a smile when I hear this one. I always thought it was a very good brit invasion pop song and when when I introdiced my nephew to it, he also liked its music. Except he's gay and thought the opening lines "The purpose of a man is to love a woman" were, shall we say, unknowing.

  • Well I'm gay and I LOVE this song. The lyric doesn't bother me at all. I realize it is only a song, not a social statement.

  • No offense meant. The nephew was amused by the naivity or innocence of the lyrics. I'd never given them a second thought but realized with his comment that there must be tons of songs that don't resonate the same way for everyone.

  • Great performance. These NME concerts are pure gems. Thanks for posting.....
