Ah another classic epiletic inducing opening title sequence from the 1980's if the brightness control on your telly from Radio Rentals was stuck on high. Nowadays a stentorian voice would announce "This programme contains flashing images" before it began.

Whatever happened to Norman Collier who's whole act comprised of imitating a knackered mike and wearing a rubber chicken on his head?

This is actually 1981, the reason is that in 1982/83 the main Blankety Blank studio sign was changed to yellow with a larger font

The shit that was on tv in the 1980s - wow - and I am old enough to remember this show...! The Americans perfected the game show genre and somehow we took their model and totally screwed it up with programs like Blankety Blank. At least it had Wogan though... classy man.
