I live in India. When I went to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 in the midnight screening it was the greatest movie experience of my life. People (All Indians I didn't see a single foreigner) were screaming their lungs out when each character came on screen the biggest applause being when Harry defeats Voldemort. That kind of reaction rarely happens for English movies here. Twilight is barely known here. Only teenage girls here like Twilight and most of them prefer HP.

Harry Potter isn't at the same level as Twilight, it's more imaginative. If anything it should be being compared to a movie like Narnia, a movie that shows that a lot of thought has been put into creating a new world, a world that no one could even comprehend, not a world where it's the same as ours, just sparkly, veggie vampires have been added to it.

Bella to me seems to be a typical character, a character, mainly girls, would expect to relate to and want to be. Voldemort is a character you wouldn't expect to relate to or want to be in any way. Same with Draco Malfoy. He is vulnerable and is afraid of people more powerful than him and afraid of not making his parents proud, aren't we all?

There's no point in reader a story with plots and themes that you can't relate to because you won't be able to fully understand it. Even Shakespeare features many things in his story easily relatable to the reader (or the viewer since his stories are meant to be performed). Sure you can relate to somethings in Twilight but it's not a story I can get into because there's not many.

Harry Potter isn't at the same level as Twilight, it's more imaginative. If anything it should be being compared to a movie like Narnia, a movie that shows that a lot of thought has been put into creating a new world, a world that no one could even comprehend, not a world where it's the same as ours, just sparkly, veggie vampires have been added to it.
I actually like the Twilight books, but the epicness of Harry Potter can not be ever compared to Twilight..

Twilight is a story where you cant relate to any of the characters whereas Harry Potter is a story where you can relate to almost all the characters, even characters who you thought you are nothing like at first glance like Voldemort. In the story Voldemort is on an obsessive quest to find immortality which shows he has a strong fear of death, a fear of which we all have

@hhazen100 I am mistaken. I obviously haven't picked up Twilight in the way I did with Harry Potter. Bella to me seems to be a typical character, a character, mainly girls, would expect to relate to and want to be. Voldemort is a character you wouldn't expect to relate to or want to be in any way. Same with Draco Malfoy. He is vulnerable and is afraid of people more powerful than him and afraid of not making his parents proud, aren't we all?

@hhazen100 Because a good story has plots and themes that the reader is able to pick up on by experience. There's no point in reader a story with plots and themes that you can't relate to because you won't be able to fully understand it. Even Shakespeare features many things in his story easily relatable to the reader (or the viewer since his stories are meant to be performed). Sure you can relate to somethings in Twilight but it's not a story I can get into because there's not many.
