I think what makes the old Degrassi better is that the kids looked like real kids you would see in school. They weren't all "pretty" and they dressed in regular clothes. The new season is really more like a soap opera now.

@Nikkita178 Yeah I agree because I would put the old and early Degrassi Seasons in a category of being a Family Comedy Drama or Dramedy because even though it can be dramatic, it does have many humorous and lighthearted moments that the whole Family can enjoy. The new Degrassi is put into a category of being a boring Teen Soap Opera Melodrama with influences of Shows like 90210 and Gossip Girl to be extremely slutty and not realistic and would make lots of Parents across the world say WTF???

I loved the original Degrassi, all the way from The Kids to Degrassi Street to Degrassi: The Next Generation Season 7. Everything was ruined when Lakehurst came. Not to blame the entire school for JT being dead but I thought that was kinda insensitive that right after some of their students bullied Degrassi students and killed JT, out of all the schools to go to, they crash at Degrassi.

season one made degrassi a great show! it was fun and about real life. season two made the characters more lovable and that's when you got attached. the plot thickened. season three was like WOAH! this show is fucking awesome! seasons four and five? just greatness. season six? how could you kill off J.T? oh well, it can't be THAT bad right...? wrong. seasons seven and eight, everyone DITCHED. degrassi sucks now, and watching this makes you realize what it USED to be-- AWESOME :D

I watched Degrassi since 2009, but seen every episode, and dang, I love the early seasons. But somebody said season eight was like season one = not really as dramatic. Then, season nine is like season two, getting better. Then that means season 10 will be like season 3, which a lot of people think is the best season.

Every time, on some occasions, when I watch the first and second season of Degrassi on TV, I would say to myself "Wow, I wish I was 10 years old again in 2001 because that was my life back then and that was my generation as a Generation Y kid in the early 2000's as a Preteen" and I don't really like the new Degrassi with the new cast because I couldn't actually relate to their problems and I guess it's because I'm becoming an adult now since I'm 19 this year in 2010.
