@iluve2run I think this is acceptable for a sprinter, it's very inefficient, so it is bad form for a distance runner, but when you're a sprinter, such a short race, I guess you can provide enough power to make up for it, just me theorizing, could be totally wrong.

@MrFlexybee Oh, I completely agree with you, trust me. In stating her stride is what does this; I was factoring all that goes into the equation. She wouldn't have such a wonderful stride, etc., in such a race if she weren't brilliant technically. Also, you're right, she is so absolutely relaxed, w/great endurance. I think Jeter has more ability to beat Felix in the end, BUT, Jeter does not have Felix's endurance & experience. W/training, Jeter outpowers and could out-stride in the end.

She has a higher top speed than VCB and Felix, and she would have caught and passed VCB if she used skill instead of raw power...that's what caused her to run out of fuel. I think the 200 is Jeter's race; she has got the perfect make-up for a start 200 runner, but, she needs to first learn to run the event. Felix does have an amazing stride, and I think if she bulked up w/muscle and lifted more, she'd be unstoppable.

Also, not to add fuel to the fire, but just because a country dominates in two sprinting events does not mean that they dominate track and field as a whole. I give Jamaica ups for the past two years but they are still at an extreme disadvantage because all they have are sprinters and nothing else. That's why the U.S. is dominate, we have the athletes to compete in everything regardless of winning or not. I miss the days when track and field was fun to watch and no hate existed.

With distance running we might as well leave that alone to the East africans.Even our best road runners couldnot compete with the B grade east afrrican athletes. Our niche and specialised area is sprinting.(100m-400m) What is lacking in depth in the semi-sprinting race is the male quarter-miler event.Historically this is where the male athletes in jamaica have earned the most medals but since the past 6 years the talent at the elite level is lacking unlike the USA.

Events like discus, high jump and long jump are well contested at champs. On a per capita level Jamaica came out the winner.(2.8 mil vs 300mil) that is one medla per 200000 people vs one medal per 13million people.And if you go further and apply the GDP metrics its even more crazier(13 trillion vs 15 billion).I think jamaica has definately earn this bragging rights irrespective of how you slice it and dice it.Remeber the statician and econometricians are always comparing perfomance on an population basis and on a GDP basis also and not on a overall result.

Allyson was 18 during the first Olympics so it doesn't count. When it's all said and done and the history books are written Campbell will be in the Shadow of Allyson Felix who is 23 and still has room to improve. She is a rare talent.

When history is written, Campbell will be one of only two females to ever win two successive Olympic Gold medals in 200ms, and was also the World 100m champion at the same time. She scored the 7th fastest time in history over 200m. She missed 6 weeks of training due to injuries, and that's the only reason Felix won. Also, Felix came out fresh, as this is her first event. Campbell has been running heats and finals for 100 AND 200m.

You don't know what Fraser is capable of. Whether she slowed down or not, her overall performance was good enough to clock 10.73-- the fastest of any "clean" athlete. All she would have to do is work on her endurance a little bit, and she may be even greater than Stewart-- and Felix.

The 200m is so much different then what you are trying to say. Fraser's fastest time is only .02 faster then Stewart. Stewart is the stronger runner of the two and Campbell is better then them both at the 200m. 200m requires speed endurance and Fraser is always getting caught twoards the end just like Gale Devers used to get ran down by Ottey. Felix is still young and will improve that 21.8. Fraser needs to break 22 first before she can be considered a serious competitor for Felix.

Fraser is a strong starter, and her starts enable her to win all of her races. If anything, Stewart is lacking, because she has poor start. I definitely feel as though Allyson is a great 3-sprint talent. But I don't think we're gonna see 100 or 400 times from her like we saw in Koch. Koch was a horse. She was also on drugs. It will be a long while before a woman goes under 48. And though Felix is fast, I don't think she'll be able to develop the strength and short sprint explosiveness to do what the east german did in the 400 and 100 respectively.

yes she is so smooth. No matter what she says she is not 100%. She still has a slight limp from last year in which what caused her the gold. That limp bugs me LOL! Non the last she super smooth and enjoy watching her run. One of my all time faves.

Allysin doesn't anchor the 4X1, she runs the 4X4. And for the 4X1, Jamaica has Fraser and Stewart, the two fastest women in the world, and Campbell-Brown and Aleen Bailey. All four women reached the finals of the women's 100m, meaning they are the best 4X1 team out right now. The only thing they have to work on is passing the baton and the rest is history.

Sorry to disappoint, but Allyson is on the 4X1 team and it would only make sense to have her on the second or anchor legs. You may THINK that Jamaica has the best 4X1 team but, its going to come down to the handoffs. If the two teams are even coming into the final leg and, Felix is on the anchor for the US, you can bet that no one will beat her in that last 100 meters. With that running start, she will crush anyone she faces on that leg. Bank on it.
