Sony seems to do this to all theur games. They either take a great game like SWG and kill it or they take a game such as Vanguard which has so much potential and go no where with it :( its sad but unfortunatly Sony is no longer a game creator in which i trust.
I'm really enjoying this game, played at launch for like a day and quit lol. the game looks and runs great now. Pretty much just 1 server now (there are two but the other one is not populated). Small community, solid game, awesome graphics with a good computer, and no kiddies like WoW. Just sold my Cata WoW account, playing this casually now. If you are looking for a nice change of pace, check it out! keep an open mind when you are playing.
I played Vanguard for a year from release. Was a very awesome game. Somewhere along the road after that first year it went down hill. Graphics went from future proof to obsolete. The so called "Optimizations" screwed that game up badly. Otherwise would still be playing.

@SubJunk Better Graphics, classes, races, raiding, combat system, grp harvesting and more. No PVP (i think pvp ruins MMORPGS cuz of balancing, play a FPS if u wanna PvP)

@PerceptualStructure PvP makes the game whole. It makes you have to play more strategically (taking darker routes, being smarter, etc). Trust me, as a die-hard PvP mmo fan it is truly immersible.

It definitely isn't going to die. They are still pushing out updates for it. Join a good guild. Look up Empire, Volition, Grithok, or anyone in Authoritarian Empire for an invite into an active guild.
At any level you can get a house and boat, you just need the gold to get it, which is where it takes some work/levels to build up the cash flow to buy one.
There are two or three types of boats you can get (I haven't been in the game for a year or so so memory fails.) The smallest one is somewhat expensive but certainly not prohibative. I think they were selling for about 20gold when I left, but the prices vary all over the place.
That's less than the old level 40 mount in WoW as far as how much effort it was to get.
for a house and a boat youre looking at about 5 plat, and thats for a galleon. You can buy a sloop for much less. and thats also for the top tier house, cheaper ones can be made.
I guess this game is going to butcher my machine (1950 pro, 2.4ghz duel core, 2g ram), but thanks to your vids I've finally got to give this one a shot regardless! Hope the EU server is populated.

By the end of the week I'll hopefully have the new system built, the game reinstalled, and enjoying graphic and gameplay quality similar to this video. After of 4-5 years playing WoW because of system requirements, I'm certainly looking forward to this change. Being a huge fan of old EQ I know I'm going to like it.
New small form factor system built. Core 2 Quad 2.83 GHz, 2 Sata 3.0 hard disks, 8GB Ram, 9800 GTX+, Vista 64-bit. Still on trial isle (lots and lots of content with adventuring, crafting and diplomacy). Game runs smooth as silk on highest setting, 2X AA, and looks fantastic.
It's a 32 bit application so there will be hardly any advantage in running it on a 64-bit OS, but there is no problem with it either. It will run more-or-less the same on 32-bit or 64-bit.
My comp will be fixed in 2 days and I'm coming back to VG!! i played during the beta and had the preordered version but i left due to all the bugs and such, i've heard it's better now so i think i'll come back and give it another try. I just hope the population isn't too wrecked to get groups
After watching all of ur videos i begun to miss VG alot! It has so damn good grp combat, but the problem is that there is no players to grp with :( If the population grows enough i think i'll come back, i'm playing LOTRO atm.
This is probably the busiest SONY mmo out to date. I was running into huge amounts of ppl on Seridon. I remember way back when I was lonely and trying to play this game.
Pop is slowly increasing, I recently resubbed. This could still become an mmorpg powerhouse IF supported AND marketed properly. I still get bad lag in cities. That's the only major bad thing I've seen since coming back so far but since I spend most of the time in the wilderness with my ranger it's ok. Thanks for posting your vids. Vanguard really needs more love on youtube!
I completely agree, there are all these outdated and extremely biased negative videos so we need to show people how much the game has changed.
Lol there is even this video where a guy is complaining about the camera not moving smoothly as he walked up steps. I was just thinking, what the hell kind of world does he live in where stairs are the same as ramps... :p
Kind of makes me think of where Trion might have gotten some of their environmental artists from. Hmmmm...

I played it a few months ago for the second try, but it only made me realise, that its about to die. No rising subscription numbers.
Had VERY good points though, i enjoyed playing it. But level without a group, its a lot of work, there are no people to level with =(

Not Butcher, I ran this game on my 1950xtx, 2.6dual core 2gb ram, everything at Medium and game ran just fine ^^
Housing can take a bit seeing you have to save up money and build it yourself, but worth it

It's increasing. It was pretty low for a while but since the training area and trial accounts launched there has been a nice increase in new players.
