It's funny cause whenever I mention The Letter People,it seems no one remembers. Was beginning to think I imagined this! Were the cartoons from an earlier era than the puppets? Cause I don't remember the cartoons, even a little, just the puppets. This song is very groovy
@mariesadiebrown same here. i had no idea it was a tv show, my younger sister used to have the records and workbooks with the light up mr s. or maybe they were mine. i don't remember. mr s and mr m were my favorites and the only songs i can vaguely remember.
omg Im 30 years old and i remeber this song as a child. This letter stayed with me idk what made me look it up i couldnt believe that i found it. lmao
Where was I when the episodes were on? I was in Kindergarten listening to the records of the Letter People songs with the Inflatable doll Letter People. LOL
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this. I sooooooooo remember this song and I still sing it from time to time. I decided today to youtube it and lo an behold here it is. These kids these days don't know good educational t.v. Damn I miss the 80's
Thanks, I plan to do one for each Letter Person. *Shudders at the idea of Mr. G and Mr. Q*- those are the only Letter People songs I don't like. (Where the heck are pictures of those two, either? I may use that as an excuse for skipping those...) I'm really looking forward to doing Mr. X, as I can include some of my own artwork in it. I'm really glad people are enjoying these so much; when I uploaded them, I honestly thought nobody would even find them, let alone watch them and leave coments.
There are plenty of pics of Mr. G in both his episode and the "Soft G" episode (a major nit in that one is that when he disappears, he's got a stick of gum in his mouth, but it's gone when he reappears). As for Mr. Q....he wasn't in too much. I can't wait to see Mr. X either, and I'm interested in seeing what you'll do with Mr. R and Mr. J.
You won't be disappointed. I love drawing Mr. R's facial expressions, and even his hair can be used to show emotion (I'm talking about the puppet version here), so his will include a few of my drawings. Mr. J has always been my absolute favorite Letter Person, so I'll put a lot of effort into his video (which will also include my drawings; I once made fun of the "jingle jacket" thing by drawing the real Mr. J holding a goth trenchcoat covered in buckles and chains and smiling at it mockingly).
Good for you! The new "Ms. J" reminds me of someone I used to work with...typical middle-aged Midwestern "gosh" and "gee-whiz" type who drove me nuts! So "Ms. J" already had two strikes against her.
Incidentally, there's a song in the movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" that sounds a lot like Mr. J's song.
Funny you would say that; I've lived in Illinois my whole life, and I know exactly the kind of person you're talking about (seriously, you should hear some of my teachers!). Small towns in Illinois tend to have strange people...
I remember you saying that about the Mr. J song, so one day I happened to catch My Big Fat Greek Wedding on TV, and I watched it just to hear the song you were talking about...
The song in question is heard at the end of the wedding, when they're all dancing in a circle. Until I heard that song, I had a hard time placing what kind of music Mr. J's theme was. OPA!
Yet again, I love it! Especially the reference to the Great Rumpus Cat! (I guess Mr. S popping out of that manhole cover is his 'startrap entrance'...just watch out for the cape, buddy, you don't want to fall on your butt!)
Again, I say...
"His eyes were like fireballs, fearfully blazing.
He gave a great yawn, and his SOCKS were amazing.
And when he looked out through the bars of the area...
Yes, you're definitely the person I was referring to with the Rumpus Cat appearance. I'm writing a fanfiction about the Letter People, and the more I think about it, the more I see the need for at least one CATS reference somewhere in it. (I swear, every Letter People site I've been to mentions CATS somewhere- is there just something about the two things that attracts the same people? Weird...)
Probably because I've made at least one CATS reference to every Letter People site I visit. :) I even conjured up a cast list of (mostly) CATS alumni who should be playing Letter People.
Mr S was the best, but I identified with Mr. M

That was a super splendid tribute to the superhero of Letter People Land. They should make Mr. S one of the Superfriends. :)

Mr. S will be played by Alfonso Ribeiro (aka Carlton).
