  • Also as far as I know Aikidoka means quite literally "aikido student"

    Just a thought.

  • Grzauka, sprecyzuj moze ze to nie jest TRENING w budojo tylko 2 gosci walacych sie po nadgarstkach :] bo robisz nam antyreklame // This is not what practices in Budojo look like - these are just 2 guys fooling around after keiko :)

  • Thats a problem too. koryu students especially rank beginners dont "fool" around with this stuff. This time could be better spent on training ikkyo or nikkyo or whatever aikidoka do.

But hey lets pick up bokuto and swing at each other yippeeee, we're doing kenjutsu, yeehaaa

  • say, what's wrong with that? If it's fun for them, let them do what they want. Treat it as if they weren't into budo at all - they could well be 2 random guys fighting with sticks FOR FUN - those are the key words here.

Oh and they're not aikidoka, btw. They only practice aikido.

  • Whats wrong with it is that it is tagged "kashima" "shin" "ryu" not "2 random guys fighting with sticks" If you are making a video acting like a loon, samurai play fighting, label it as such. Not alot to ask, is it?

    as for your btw, LOL

  • as for your 1st point, yes, you're write, that basically the same thing that I wrote in Polish 2 comments ago.

as for your 2nd point, you're right too :D I wanted to write "Oh and they're not aikidoka, btw. They only practice KENJUTSU" hahaha. Sorry. My bad.

  • OMG that's what happens when I write comments being not yet fully awake... -.-

"you're RIGHT" not "you're write" LOL

and "that's basically..." not "that basically".

I think I should get some more sleep. I definitely should.

  • It's all good.

  • There's absolutely nothing wrong with having fun. But think about this for a second: If you had a passion for something and you put your heart and soul into it, wouldnt you be just a little ticked that someone is not giving your "art", "hobby" whateveritmight be,

the proper respect if not for the art itself then for the 500 year lineage that you uphold

  • Well...yes if someone would laugh at the thing I have a passion for or if someone would in whatever way violate it. I guess it's pretty subjective what one might feel watching this video, but I don't see anything wrong in it. And I think it best if you would just let it slip and forget about it. seriously. it's no big deal and it's not worth your time (or anybody's, for that matter). kenjutsu, ganbatte ne!

  • I have plenty of time, I think it best if it was just re-labeled:

"2 dudes with ponytails wearing hakama playing kendo (poorly) but calling it koryu"

    That way, everyone happy, yes?

  • yes ;)

  • Why is this video even up here? It reflects poorly on your teacher when beginners are fooling around with the techniques without practicing good fundamentals. I don't know Polish, but if you are supposed to be beginners, why aren't you practicing the kata instead of fooling around? And why in heaven's name did you decide to film it and put it on the internet?

  • Have you ever thought that someone might be a beginer? Learn polish, find out whats the move title and then comment : ] noone claims anything, we just showing our friends what are we doing at dojo

  • sensei Pomianowski is not only an aikidoka...

  • Neither of you are even actually cutting your just doing kendo strikes. There is no point in sparing if your not going to do it right. Remember you training (meaning Kashima Shin Ryu Kenjutsu) do you confront an enemy in that manner (the answer is no). So neither one of you follows the ryu's guied lines and are fighting outside Kashima Shin Ryu's methods. I would recomend training and being fathful to your teachings before you decide to scrap.

  • Well said. I like the fact that they both start out in seigan, then finally one of them says "Hey, wait a sec, if I was Kashima Shinryuka I would know the style's prefatory kamae that you learn on the first day! Just a humble opinion. Of course it would help that I study with Friday Sensei.

  • Yeah, it's kinda weird. The way they're going at it, you'd almost think they weren't aikidoka. Sorta makes me wanna whip out my banjo and play "Soldier's Joy".

  • Well, the problem is that they "are" aikidoka. What they're doing is playing at kenjutsu filtered through a brick of aikido.(its hard to filter things through something thats not a filter) I usually try to be reserved about this kind of stuff but it urks me when people claim a style and make it look like crap. No disrespect inteded to any and all who are genuinely attempting to keep japanese sword arts alive.

  • Yeah, it bothers me too. But that's why I told John about it.

  • I guess a good camera would not make it better... I had the opportunity to train Kashima Shin Ryu for some months in an authorized dojo linked to hombu dojo - that was much different than this video and one of the most rewarding trainings I ever had. There are only 3 authorized dojo in Europe.

  • A little bit nit-picking, but there are 4 authorized (by the Kashima-Shinryu Federation of Martial Arts) dojos in Europe :) One in Germany, one in Slovenia and two in Finland.

  • Kashima kenjutsu, I think not!

  • Pretty much.

  • concur

  • looks like Tameshiai wannabe kendo

  • Mr 'Parapetto' did. The camera was placed on the window : ]

  • Hi guys, who was recording it? And when do you made this?

I'm asking because if someone has good camera it will be nice to make a good quality movie.

  • Is this the Slovenian branch of Kashima Shinryu performing?

  • it's Polish - sensei Pomianowski dojo

  • Well, Pomianowski is an aikidoka soooo.. I'm guessing it's the Inaba stuff.
