Haiku...Do you know the story or any of the lyrics to the song? Nice dulcimer and nice performance of the song. Interesting, I've heard of DDD but not AAA. I also visited your myspace website and you have some excellent tunes playing on that site also.
I don't think I've ever heard any lyrics for this tune, apart from a floating "Dang Dang....Set Me Free" on the C part. And I'm afraid I don't know any story to go with it...
I tend to keep my dulcimer in DAA or Ddd - but since this is a A tune, I wanted to try it this way (and I'm not found of "reverse tunings", such as Eaa)
@haikumathieu Apparently there was a man who was going to be hanged. Someone handed him an out of tune fiddle (tuned AEAC#), and told him that if he could play a tune that they liked on it, they wouldn't hang him. It seems appropriate that you've arrived at such an unusual dulcimer tuning for it too. Great tune!

Yep, traditionnel (du coté du Canada Francais à l'origine je crois, et commun dans l'Old-Time US)
Là je le joue en La (tonalité traditionnelle), mais il sonne bien aussi en Ré (en DAd, même doigté du coup mais avec 2 bourdons, ou en DAA)
