Both of then are good each having it's own personality. The first one gave him more a laid back sort of persona. The new one makes him seem like he's panicking and scared.

Personally I think it was the right choice to go with Stephen. It's just seemed to work better for me.

I do have one question though... Who did the first voice?

Merchant is the superior one by far, and I'll even go as far as to say he has done one of the best works in voice acting EVER. The first voice actor was just a placeholder. Never considered for the part, as far as I know. They literally wrote the lines with Stephen Merchant in mind, but didn't think there was any way in hell they'd actually get him for the part.

Just the way Merchant says "You did WHAT?" with that tinge of nervous surprise is what really clinched it for me. Of course we're comparing a professional voice actor's performance with an animator's, who just wanted to get the overall idea across of a bot with a British twang in his voice.

You're all forgetting something important. It's not the accent that makes Merchant's performance better, it's the skill.

Also, Merchant's voice samples we can hear here differ from the ones that are actually in the game. Those are much better than these.

Going on the EA/VALVe discussion. Anyone have issues installing EA's distribution of the game from the DVD? I never could get it to work -- couldn't even install Steam from the DVD. Downloaded Steam from Valve's SteamPowered, entered the code from the box, downloaded the game over Steam, works perfectly. Waste of DVD and time if you ask me. Expected DVD to install faster.
