There is something about the older generation of people, inparticular those from certain parts of southern and eastern europe, who had a great ability to tell stories. I guess there was a bigger sense of exteneded family and togetherness back then and telling stories was a large part of family bonding.
Sadly it is becoming a lost art today amongst the new generations. Possibly because the role of new and fast interactive media has detached the individual from the family.
I love this movie, first saw it on TCM, have been searching for it since! I simply adore his Mother!!
