I started this whole movement towards your big tune coz its tight, we used to love , this tune in Zimbabwe, Thanx to Mixsensei for this germ, and obviously thanx to you Chude. Wicked tune.
Nice to see such a great reaction to this tune. Recording this was an awesome experience. My name is actualy Chude Mondlane and I am half mozambican (father) and half american (mother). Kalimambo!!!
Yo DJ Mel! This is so telepathic; was trying to figure this track out a few nights ago. I last heard this on Radio 3 Zimbabwe back in 1988. Cannot recall correctly but it was Tich on the radio that night and he dedicated it to one of the DJ's who had unfortunately passed on that night in a road accident or something. Tragic! But brings such memories because it was a dark rainy night that day in Livingstone where of course we were able to catch 3FM! Nice Jam! Cheers Man!!
Josh Makawa; now there was a guru. He died circa 2000, was in H-Town that week and Tich had a show in his honour at a club up Samora Machel Ave [I think], next to the Holiday Inn. Yeah, those 3FM DJ's back in the days were bad, bad, bad....! Wonder what happened to Fungai Marange, DJ Darlington, Kelvin Soul Supreme....Man, I could go on....!
Hey they do speak Portugese in Mozambique, but they also speak English too (yes with an accent). Heard many people sing that seem to loose there accent? I Guess that why music is so great, it trancends nationalities and accents...interesting question what does Chude mean? I asked a mozambiquan and it doesnt have a meaning as a word, its just her firstname.
Actually the full name of the artist is Chude Mondlane. She is daughter of the assasinated FRELIMO leader Eduardo Mondlane and an American woman. She now stays in New York. She has also done work singing background vocals for the likes of Roberta Flack. Listen around 2.35 minutes of this song she actually sings a verse in an African language
Thanks Chude for a great tune. You should listen to it more often!! (hahahaha). This song kept us rocking back home in Zimbabwe back in the day. Props to DJ John Matinde who used to play this song
Whoa that's an african chick singing, no accent, must have been born here, I thought they spoke Portuguese in Mozambique. The song, her vocals are tight. Great tune, too bad they don't make like this anymore.
Ya man! A good friend of mine confirmed that she is indeed from Moza, and even gave her full name as Chude Aldo, he actually met her. What ever happened to her, because this tune is tight !!!
not heard this since like 1996 thanx
