To me, the themes of this song are: It's the little things that count the most. With giving just a little bit (a tuppence), we are truly giving a lot -- a lot more than we even realize. We are put here to help each other, not the selfish grasping striving inhumanity of war and injustice, but put here on this earth to truly help each other out! It does not take much, just a little bit of time and money, and every day, we can do some small act of kindness that could make all the difference!

this song always makes me cry. The Sherman Brothers really outdid themselves with this movie, so many great songs, but this one, well it stands above the rest. There's a reason why this was Walt Disney's favorite song.

Je ne comprenais pas le sens de ces paroles quand j'étais petite. Maintenant, je pleure presque à chaque fois. Et on ose dire que les films Disney sont pour les enfants ! Que les gens qui disent ça se revisionne des classiques, comme ce magnifique film, et ils verront (s'ils ont un peu de sensibilité).

When I was little, I always thought that the reason the little old woman wasn't there when mr banks went to her later on, it was because she had died, and it always made me cry, I have no idea why that idea came to my mind, I still sometimes think it when watching the film
