  • I love it how it looks like he just gave up on the trombone at the end after that crazy trumpet part. xD Wish I could see his follow up to that. :(

  • @GalacticEarthling It shouldn't effect your trombone playing. In fact, it will help you with your high range on your trombone.

  • @GalacticEarthling yo bro i, doing exactly the same tihng, and what you have to do is get ur trumpet to same level of skill as ur trombone, then u can only start playing the two together to get ur lips used to that mouthpiece difference/ change

  • It took me 5 years of playing but I finally reached the highest note on the trombone the double b flat

  • @jaclynf306 Because there are "Highest notes" on pieces of tubing.... k

  • @trombonebro well maybe you should look it up there is a highest note

  • @jaclynf306 Then how can people do the "mindbreakingly difficult triple Bb"?

  • @trombonebro they dont

  • @jaclynf306 You're new here, aren't you? /watch?v=HSAIODjaPMo

    You're fighting an uphill battle...

  • @trombonebro ummm no im not really and i think you should stop assuming things

  • Trombone > Trumpet

  • Shit! Both balls gone, but I STILL can't play like that :(

  • i would give both my balls to play like that - who needs to reproduce when you can do this :D

  • i like it

  • trumpet wins

  • Whoa nice

  • I remember a story... Who murdered the conductor? These guys start investigating and indentify the parts of the band on the way.... The trumpets cheer with patriotic pride as the trombones had a bit too much to drink. They also review the reeds and drums etc. I can't quite remember remember the end. I personally like the trombone better. More smooth than a blast.

  • that's a BAAAD man!

  • my highest note on the trombone is the one he plays at 0:11

  • ive been told playing trumpet and trombone ruins your embrasure this video proves that statement wrong

  • funny

  • whoa...

  • stop arguing what one is better, lets both get together and attack the woodwinds :D

  • Damn...it's a bass trombone too...

  • @SonozakiMionftw no its not theres at least two types of trigger trombones that i know

  • @SonozakiMionftw Its not a bass trombone. Its a tenor trombone with an f attachment.

  • HOLY SHIT!

  • i wold give my third ball to play like that, dude is awesome.

  • This man is not a human being

  • This dude is a monster, I wonder if I should sell my soul to satan as well to get those skills.

  • 2 people are woodwinds ;-)

  • Omg I suck so bad D:

  • can someone please tell me the name of this song.

  • I love the trombone!!!

  • that is sick.. WOW

  • This man can suck the bottle through the straw! What chops!

  • GO TROMBONE FTW

  • este duelo de trompeta y trombon lo grabe en un video (vhs) hace anos, con una filarmonica al mando de lalo schifrin ,creo era un especial de kpbs. aqui en san diego ca. exelente concierto fue la 1a vez que lo vi tocar.

  • trumpet is way better

  • I love both and if I didn't play trumpet I'd go straight for the trombone. Both are beautiful instruments and it's stupid to compare them because they play in different registers. They both produce a brassy sound it's just that one's lower and the other is higher, jeez.

  • @musicalmitch12 not exactly. trumpets are too bright. mellows FTW.

  • sick

  • trombones also have flat and sharp notes all over the place where you have to play second flat position or 3rd sharp position.

  • mahahah

  • Freakin' incredible. man am I jealous. I wish I could play even half that well on just my trumpet...

  • 7 positions on trombone, trumpet has EIGHT! Alternate fingering counts as another position hahha (3rd valve alone)

  • @JeffZoch Failure.... If thats true, trombone has 14! Add the trigger, stupid.

  • not all trombones have that F attachment. and if it really comes down to that we can use all three of our mini slides to bend pitches to diff levels.

  • @JeffZoch trombone actually has about twice as many different positions then trumpet. like double half notes, all trombone has to do is move the slide a little bit more. like a flat position/sharp position. also trombone is more versatile with this and is the only instrument which can suffice a 'true' glissando

  • @regaldrifter

The Violin family, fretless bass, slide guitar, slide whistle, theremin, human voice can all do true glissando too

  • @IvoVek ment brass.

  • i would give my left ball to play like that.

  • @AxleOkami

Why what happen to the right one? LOL jk

  • @AxleOkami :

haha. No need for scrotal sacrifice! Practice instead.... :-)

  • @AxleOkami i would give my 2 balls!

  • @Stormbubi dont you need those for straight things?

  • @SwagSkilling ow....well...to late :D

  • @AxleOkami

I'd give both, screw the kids.

  • @AxleOkami you'd be able to buy a new one if you could play like that.

  • @AxleOkami or you could just practice 4 hours a day for 5 years, then keep going.

  • @AxleOkami.......... I would give my right

  • @AxleOkami Your not the only one!

  • @AxleOkami i would give both

  • Fuck that! I'd give both! And someone else's!

  • @AxleOkami

    i would give both...xD but after i make 4-5 kids... :)

  • @AxleOkami i would give both

  • no offence to trombonist but all you need is one hand to play trumpet suckas :D

  • And less Precision. but than again , it seems like your trying to insult the trombone.

  • its a lot harder to play the sitar than the trombone, but than again does that really matter?

  • I think it's general knowledge that brass instruments are harder to play than strings. Just because the sitar is less played doesn't mean it's harder.

  • pick one up and try it out, it has suspended strings, you need a certain playing position to play it, it has a little more than twelve strings... you should try it actully its a lot of fun

  • If I had the money.. I'd try out so many instruments. Lol You don't even know haha

  • ? what don't i know?

  • What instruments I would get. Lol

  • :l goodbye

  • Sure thing nigger.

  • close, but closer then you think kiddo

  • I love you

  • thank you

  • @ninjae4976 Thank you ;)

  • trombone owns all!!!

  • whats the name of this song?

  • yo yo yo, three valves of fury

  • Slide Trumpet eh EH??!

  • trombone... because we do it in SEVEN positions. try that, trumpet.

  • HELL YEAHH!!! Trombonists all the way!!

  • and we do everything you do and more with only three valves ;)

  • there are 7 valve positions on the trumpet. same shit. fucktard.

  • Impresionante !

  • TRUMPET, i enjoy the hi pitched sound

  • Toujours aussi étonnant !

  • hes a bloody beast, awsome at both instruments

  • el tipo,tremenda bomba,a estudiar

  • Whoa... How in the heck did he do that? Two totally different instruments, different embouchers, and obviously different mouthpieces! I play both trumpet & trombone (along with french horn, euphonium, etc...) and this video just blew me away!!

  • You are probably not very good.

  • holy shit i are amazed. :O

  • damn lol two COMPLETELY different embouchures and he sounds pretty good to boot haha

  • Name of the song is "Things Just Ain't what they Used to Be" I think

  • who is the composer you know?

  • no idea, but I'm sure its original

  • omg he is mean on trombone!!!, and then the trumpet kicks in omg! i just pooed everywhere!!!! :D he is good i must say, if u say not you have no music in your soul!!!!

  • excuse me, are you looking at your watch there Con Campbell ? got somewhere else to be ?

  • Haha, yeah I saw that. I think there may be a better brass player in town...

  • i love how after that last trumpet solo, he put his trombone up all slow... haha.

  • idiots - they r both superb instruments!!!!!!!!

  • the trombone sounds better I think (bes slightly biased!)

  • Probably because he's playing the trumpet with one hand lol

  • No!! TROMBONE PW3ND!!! Trumpet sounds like a pig getting raped

  • The Trombone PWN3D the trumpet

  • No! trumpet is fabulous instrument. trombon sound is like fart

  • I agree with you there but that is why it sounds so cool!

  • you missed the part after that where he picks up the trombone and goes "screw it" and the audience laughs and everyone is happy

  • wow

  • dios mio!

  • LOL! holy shit!!!!

  • OMG!

  • This dude's a monster. WOW.

  • a trigger isnt wat makes u good stupid its ur overall playing ability and the technique and uses of the slide, sure the trigger helps in some cases but there r people out their that can play blue bells of scotland with a regular and not a tenor

  • i wasnt saying that thats the only reason hes good you DICK

  • Well I think it's kind of clever that he uses the high register so that the notes in the harmonic series are closer together. All things considered, he doesn't really need the trigger too much.

  • dude look at wat u PUT!!! "he has a triger trombome thats why hes so awesome" its pretty plain and simple wat u put!

  • I think it's called 'Things ain't what they used to be' He does this when he plays that song.

  • the best!!!!

  • BEAST!!!

  • haha yeah well are your ears filled with dicks?

  • LOL

  • holy do-do wtf when did i put this?????

  • Comment removed

  • hahah trombone ninja stylin

  • HAA trombone won all the way lol

  • i might die on playin like this.......

    james u rock..

  • I see why it's in B flat now. I was wondering why he put it in b flat.

  • that is so awesome.

if i could move my slide that fast i would die happy.

  • I have so much to learn.....

  • he's the best!!!!!!!! no ever

  • nice

  • Damn does he attempt that trumpet line on the bone at the end? Shit, missing the video, oh well. That's pretty sweet.

  • Ha, no :)!.. It's one of James' signature jokes, if you want to hear the same routing in context check out him playing with black dyke mills brass band (Search "james morrison met de black dyke"). The self-trumpet/trombone battle happens from 3:55.

  • Really fantastic.

  • i either got the same or similar model of his trombone

  • awsome

  • im at a loss for words... wow!

  • Is this at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Fest? Possibly 2005?

  • wow...this guy is such a god

  • YEAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • very nice =)

  • wow very nice

  • exelente

  • Esto Es Algo Muy Especial!, Muy Bonito...

  • the trom is a tenor. very nice though

  • magnifico

  • HAHAHA! Magnificent! It's incredible how he was able to adjust his embouchure to suit the taste for the trumpet immediately after the trombone. Wonderful flexibility. And the tromboning was just phenomenal.

  • ....why isnt there more...i was waiting for teh trombone to do what the trumpet did

  • do you actually believe even for that man that a trombone could actually fukin do that?

ill give them my penis if they can.

  • Yes. Easily.

  • Well maybe he's not good enough on trombone to do that thing he did on the trumpet but some of the greats could.

  • Comment removed

  • ...and he plays trumpet AND sax equally as well! Amazing cat!

  • thats some amazing t-boning!!

  • trombone all the way

    brass 4 life

  • trombone all the way! amazing tonguing
