  • Sick man, I'm from olney

  • I BE NUTTIN !!

  • u gat the rite bell housing on thear

  • Is that going in that corvette? =)

  • while getting say 800 hp from a 3l turbo charged engine is impressive, for me no other engine satisfies me more than the Chevrolet V8

  • what are those filter things on the valve covers?

  • @low72 fillers for the oil...you pour the new oil in there when you change it

  • @low72 It's for crankcase ventilation, to allow pressure to be emitted out of the engine. Typically one valve cover would have a oil filler in the grommet and on the other valve cover a PCV valve hooked to a hose redirecting the gases back to the air intake (re-breather). That's typically the stock smog setup. High power motors have higher crankcase ventilation requirements and many who build moderate motors don't design them worrying about smog so they just put filters in the grommets.

  • Man this thing was so awesome i just bought all new big mutha thumpr hyd. roller setup for my tunnel rammed 427....sounds great!!!!!!!

  • I just built a 396 .708 lift 272 278 duration @ .050 , 049 oval port heads ported and am putting tunnel ram on it ,dynoed with single carb team g intake ,made almost 540 horse pulled to 7500 rpm no problem, yours sound awesome !

  • dear santa: ive been really, really good this year....

  • @lokey47 All you need to do is work ;)

  • this guy sets his idle where he wants it and then sets the timing smart smart

  • its not the high lift dumasses its the duration and how long it holds what lift it has that makes it sound gud. i had a cam that made .520 .520 and 246 246 @.050 and it sounded like a beast but didnt even max my heads out so yea

  • After 12 years of efi stuff I've forgotten about carbs and bloody timing lights !!! Nice motor mate been thinking about putting a thumper in my 418

  • give a man a big block and put a smile on his face

  • where is ur dohc?

  • i can fall asleep to that

  • Hate to see the valve train after the low rpm after start up. Should be around 2000 rpm for at least 20 minutes. Thats my opinion.

  • @jakgraphix3 roller cams are not like the old flat tappet cams..................

  • Comment removed

  • this is sexy

  • Hey what did you do to this 402 big block? I have the same motor in my 86 EL Camino. Just want to options on how to get it like yours.

  • very niice engine!

  • any motor will sound that good throttle response with no clutch or torque converter..

  • 402 is 396 overbore 30??

  • yes, same stroke, and a 427 is the same bore as a 454, just the stroke changed

  • LOVE it!!! Im a huge fan of the 396s.

    Long live the baby rat!!!!!

  • who much 4 the 327?

  • thts goin in my 63 Chevy II..

  • That sounds awsome! whats the specs on the cam?

  • I also have a 396, mine is in a flat bottom v-drive boat. i am unaware of the internals on the motor because i recently got the boat and havnt had time to tear it down. i believe the compression to be at 12 to1 or higher because it is a cam2 motor. what should i be expecting horsepower wise?

    Thanks

  • can you list what cam you are runing in that engine?

  • here mustang mustang lol!!!!

  • it sound great aint nuttin better then the sound of a muscle car or chevy but i noticed the belt was still spining y is that

  • Electric motor driving the waterpump.

  • I'm in love.....

  • That baby will post some number's at the track ;)

  • I love this engine, sounds really healthy. I especially like the stand you have it sitting on to do the test fire and tune. Where did you find that?

  • These 396s and 401s were good running motors.

  • Where do you get a 401 from?

  • Just bore a 396 .030 over. That's all they are is 396s bored .030 over.

  • same here wats the number...cus im rebuilding a 396 for my 71 monte carlo

  • the Best Father in the World ..hahaha

  • That sounds oh so sweet!! What is the combo?

  • did that thumpr cam put out some good #'s?

  • this engine was not dynoed the engine builder could only estimate he told us it was definitely capable of running a 7 flat in the 1/8 mile in a 69 camaro

  • i can go to sleep to that hormonious sound

  • If I were a 454 I would be terrified of this 396 just because of its wicked sound

  • not if i were i 454 and i sounded like that. the more cubes you got, the better your big ass cam is gonna work.

  • man, that thing's gonna rip.
