What's the price tag on this? I'm considering buying the Empress Super Delay which is considerably expensive. I'll have to try this out first however. Any one have any comments on this who's playing the Empress as well?
Question: If I plug an ABY-box in front of this baby (stereo input) and plug the timefactor from the stereo output into a two different amps, can I record a loop into a A-channel and after that record different loop into channel-B so that the loops dont mix together?
how would this work if I wanted a dotted eight note delay? Once I put in the time, could I just tap the normal tempo and still get a dotted eight note delay or would I have to tap it to a different tempo to get the delay?
@V5Blanks Bad misconception. Reverb is a complex phenomenon, a whole combination of different reflections and paths to the ear. That is why pro reverb effects cost as much as they do: they model all this stuff.
kinda bites that when you change the delay time it just cuts off what it delays, as opposed to doing that cool "warp sound" that most delay pedals do when they try to catch up...
About to purchase either 2 ac15h1tvs or 1 Magic Amps Brit MKII TB. To truly get a huge 3d sound do you recommend 1 amp with the right effects or running 2 amps stereo and splitting guitar signal like edge does? Please help. Your advice is greatly appreciated
Yes, eventhough this pedal is better than most standard delays ...The Empress Superdelay is much better! The Empress is the best delay pedal in the world even over ones more expensive such as the Diamond Memory Lane and they Ecozar! ...Look no further if you want the best delay get the Empress Superdelay Vintage Modified!
@recoverarecobras - Uh, no. I have a DD-20, and I'm in the process of selling it off to buy a TimeFactor. The Eventide has an order of magnitude more control over delay parameters, much better options for dynamic control in performance, much more user preset storage, and a FAR deeper looper. And that doesn't even address the question of whether the pedal sounds better than the Boss. Go to Eventide's site and read the manual to get the real scoop.
The Eventide pedals are quality all the way through; like having a rack processor at your feet. I'm sure this has come up before, but has PGS or anyone, heard about Eventide releasing a Verbfactor? That would truly complete the factor line up.
@serve4life - Jeez...long story short; in analog devices the original signal is represented electrically by variations in voltage. With a digital device the original signal is sampled many thousands of times and converted into a sequence of 1's and 0's, to be understood and processed by a computer. The end result is analog delays tend to have lower resolution (some might say "warmer") and shorter delay times. Digital delays tend to be brighter and more "hi-fi" with more diverse capabilities.
@serve4life I think also that digital is totally unchanged as it repeats, analogue the delay tends to break as in real life if you shouted against a wall or in a cave the echo would sound slight broken and would never sound exactly as the original, so analogue is slightly more organic. Hope this helps.
By the way digital tends to have higher delay settings, to about 8 second delay the most analogue tends to be is about 300ms.
@serve4life Here's a better answer: Analog delays recreate natural echo sounds that degrade the longer they echo. Tape delays from the 60's did that naturally. Imagine if you stand at the edge of a canyon and shout. The first echo you hear back sounds pretty clear, but as the sound bounces off the rocks again and again, it gets muddier and weaker. That's analog.
Digital delay is more clean and exact. A computer creates the echo, so it can stay exactly the same no matter how many repeats.
I've owned a dd-20, dl4 and a bunch of single delays and I would trade them all if my timefactor was broke or stolen. It has every delay sound imaginable and then a few more. Don't hesitate to buy it. It's glorious.
You mean you can get it down to the nearest 1ms? With the latest update, it should allow you to dial it in with the regular time knobs, and then fine tune down to the 1ms with the decoder knob I think...
@ProGuitarShopDemos Mesa Boogie Mark III. I know that john petrucci runs 2 different delay times on most of his sounds. I guess my question is that if i had a stereo setup could i send each delay to a different side? And if i did not have a stereo setup, but 2 cabs would it be possible to just send 1 delay to each cab?
You can't just run the output from the head, into a delay pedal, then stereo out into each cab. You'll need two heads. With Petrucci, he runs two heads to simulate the stereo effect...
@ProGuitarShopDemos i think he's saying that he has either a 2x12 or a 4x12 that can be wired up in stereo. he's asking if it's necessary to have a separate amp for each stereo side to run the delay in stereo...or could you just run the stereo signal from the delay pedal to the stereo-wired cab: sending one to each side.
@melonheed3 did you just say "could you just run the stereo signal from the delay pedal to the stereo-wired cab: sending one to each side. "??? its Amp or Line level, not Speaker Level.... If that amp has two discrete Left And Right Input channels then ya... but thats the only way to do that without using two separate amplifiers
If it works for you thats great! Didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings. But for 400 bucks vs 300 bucks one should consider that Lexicon MX400 regular $450.00 to $500.00 now selling for about $299.00. I recommend Musician's Friend so you can ship it back if you don't like it. I also have a Rocktron Xpression. Either unit in the loop is something this unit can't compete with. Rocktron Nor Musician's Friend is paying me. May the force be with you.
I sold my Eventide Time Factor and bought a Lexicon MX 400! The Stomp Factor sounds mushy compared to that Lexicon. 9 Different delay effects..Like I would really use em all. The digital delay within the Lexicon has 5 seconds of delay time and the quality is stellar! And as for the Looping... What good is that really? How many people really use their Looping on a live situation? For each his own. I have no regrets after using both.
I'm curious, is Lexicon paying you or something? You are posting this pro lexicon bash eventide rant on other eventide time factor posts too. You seem to be on some sort of vendetta to convince everyone possible they should buy a lexicon over the eventide. Most people aren't so militant about their gear preferences.
i'd check out the pigtronix phi evolution. it's better then this in my opinion. i just don't like the fact of having a digital pedal while playing shows and stuff.
I see a lot of people complaining about the price of these & thats understandable considering.
But seriously these units have the best possible sound quality i have ever heard from digital units, & this is coming from somebody who is a die-hard analogue pedal freak.
I hate how the guys in these demo videos always play stupid blues riffs. It's a badass delay pedal, for god's sake! Play something The Edge or Robert Smith would play! Play something ambient or post rock, show us what it can really do, but lay off the lame blues riffs on every freaking video
hmmm, i agree, the price is fairly ridiculous, but it's not overRATED. it's overpriced yes but definitely not overrated, it is very good. but yeah i guess it could be cheaper, that doesn't necessarily have to do with it being overrated, that's just the damn music market.
@GeorgeBrooks09 that's eventide for you. first class stuff...just a little too much for most of us haha. in both features and price. i'll stick to my nova repeater.
This pedal does so much its almost incomprehensible. Its really, really, really out of the realm of the average user. The studio integration is top notch, something you wont find on many other units, its also not needed for most usage. The different presets are just scratching the surface of this box. You can pick how fast you want your notes to be played, like quarter or eighth, etc.
The Time Factor has way more control over parameters, not to mention you can sync it to your DAW's grid/map, also it has filter and modulation types, more presets and much tighter sounding algorithms...No digital artifacts to be heard unless turning the speed knob to quickly, not to mention you can use a pedal to control more parameters than just the delay speed...thats a lot.
i got a boss dd6 and it has no tap tempo!!! you gotta buy a seperate pedal for £35, i want to do edge style repeats and the dd6 is totaly useless for this, iam getting a tc nova
yes you can save them. then to flip thru them by holding down the right footswitch for 2 seconds to enter bank mode. there are 10 banks with 2 presets each, which are accessed with the left and middle footswitches. the new firmware update doubles the amount of presets to 40.
i prefer the TC Electronic Nova Delay. The DD7 is really i piece of crap imo. Don't buy BOSS delay pedals folks! The Behringer DD400 and DD600 is pritty much the same thing as the Boss dd3 and dd6. Only difference is that its made of plastic and its 3 times cheeper.
I love the Nova -- It's so user friendly and easy to dial in delicious sounds. The Timefactor though has 2 seperate delays which is tailor made for ambient music. Boss Delays are crap? No, they're actually quite nice and simple for people who don't want to use something as complex as the Timefactor.
im not sure if you have every used the boss DD5, but thats gotta be one of the easiest and best delays made. Seriously, its so flippin easy, and sounds cool. The nova delay is amazing too! dont get me wrong, i think the nova is a little complicated, and seems to have a few glitches.
I'll buy whatever the hell I want. And my DD-20 kicks your Nova Delay's ass :P ..and again ..and again... okay and again.
The Nova is overly complicated, they've tried to stuff too much crap in one box. Yes the sounds are good.. but the design and usability is just plain horrible. (I am an interaction designer.. and the TC pedals are in my nightmares.)
Yeah, it's a little complicated , but the Nova's a really versatile, great sounding unit that just takes a little screwing with to really master. I have mine set up as a short looper, an ambient delay, a slapback, and a bunch of other types.
That being said, the DD-20 rocks too, but if someone likes something else better, what difference is it to you?
Completely different animals. If you ONLY want analog type sounds, space echo is $150 cheaper. However, Timefactor is perhaps the most powerful delay stompbox of all time, so if you have the cash and need the features, the Timefactor is your delay.
If I were you, however, I'd go with the EH Stereo Memory Man w/ Hazarai. Most of the features of this pedal, for half the price. For a digital delay, it's very warm. The one problem is it can't really oscillate, but it has plenty of possibilities. :)
So does anyone know if you can set a delay sound that you like, save it and pull up the sounds you saved? or do you have to edit the presets everytime?
I would like to know how this pedal works with pre-amp distortion and additional fx such as phaser and chorus. the dl4 that I own is giving me a hard time both in the fx loop and straight into the amp as the delays get muffled and distorted.
Hi Andy, just wondering if you can give me some inputs. I'm currently in the midst of getting a delay pedal; requirements preferably, both delay and reverb, plus tap tempo.
Any suggestions for which pedal to get? I've checked out your nova delay video, but it didn't have the reverb option.
I'm thinking about getting a TimeFactor and was wondering if you can change the note value's of the delay? and if so what different value's are there?

The studio integration is top notch, something you wont find on many other units, its also not needed for most usage. The different presets are just scratching the surface of this box. You can pick how fast you want your notes to be played, like quarter or eighth, etc.

And about: T-Rex Replica Delay or Moog 104

I own both... The Eventide is way better...

RV3 is the simplest and best analog delay of all-time... :D
paquitodiaz 2 years ago
RV-3 is a digital reverb and digital delay pedal. the Deluxe Memory Man or Diamond Memory Lane is probably the best analog delay imo.

This is the best digi delay on the market period. The chorus is the best digi modulation pedal on the market, period.

can you do a demo of the tc electronics g major?
nissanskyline16 2 years ago
i got a boss dd6 and it has no tap tempo!!! you gotta buy a seperate pedal for £35, i want to do edge style repeats and the dd6 is totaly useless for this, iam getting a tc nova
strabbs1 2 years ago
the dd-6 has a tap tempo... you have to hold the the pedal for 2 seconds than your are in the tap mode, then you can tap your tempo...

can you save presets, and how can you flip through them using the footswitches?
Spocksbrother 2 years ago
yes you can save them. then to flip thru them by holding down the right footswitch for 2 seconds to enter bank mode. there are 10 banks with 2 presets each, which are accessed with the left and middle footswitches. the new firmware update doubles the amount of presets to 40.
juanypei 2 years ago
can you use the LOOP function while using the eventides effects? Both at same time? Thanks.
starsail0312 2 years ago
haha i already have a boss dd-7 and a V2 H2O and i think i want this too!! haha! im a delay junkie! the dd-7 isnt that impressive by the way...
schectersensei 3 years ago
i was actually quite happy with it. The RE-20 is better IMO
amarr1 3 years ago
i prefer the TC Electronic Nova Delay. The DD7 is really i piece of crap imo. Don't buy BOSS delay pedals folks! The Behringer DD400 and DD600 is pritty much the same thing as the Boss dd3 and dd6. Only difference is that its made of plastic and its 3 times cheeper.
adrianvdb 2 years ago
agreed. I have dd7, and want to ebay it to help pay for timefactor.
eventide is flippin great. such clarity in the effects, and midi as well...
no brainer. spend the money, or dont use delay! :)
0m1nous 2 years ago
I love the Nova -- It's so user friendly and easy to dial in delicious sounds. The Timefactor though has 2 seperate delays which is tailor made for ambient music. Boss Delays are crap? No, they're actually quite nice and simple for people who don't want to use something as complex as the Timefactor.
amarr1 2 years ago 2
im not sure if you have every used the boss DD5, but thats gotta be one of the easiest and best delays made. Seriously, its so flippin easy, and sounds cool. The nova delay is amazing too! dont get me wrong, i think the nova is a little complicated, and seems to have a few glitches.
maplefreak889 2 years ago
I'll buy whatever the hell I want. And my DD-20 kicks your Nova Delay's ass :P ..and again ..and again... okay and again.
The Nova is overly complicated, they've tried to stuff too much crap in one box. Yes the sounds are good.. but the design and usability is just plain horrible. (I am an interaction designer.. and the TC pedals are in my nightmares.)
m0joGriffin 2 years ago
Yeah, it's a little complicated , but the Nova's a really versatile, great sounding unit that just takes a little screwing with to really master. I have mine set up as a short looper, an ambient delay, a slapback, and a bunch of other types.
That being said, the DD-20 rocks too, but if someone likes something else better, what difference is it to you?
I'd take a Timefactor over either one.

which one its better this one or the space echo??
Juanjolead 2 years ago
Completely different animals. If you ONLY want analog type sounds, space echo is $150 cheaper. However, Timefactor is perhaps the most powerful delay stompbox of all time, so if you have the cash and need the features, the Timefactor is your delay.
If I were you, however, I'd go with the EH Stereo Memory Man w/ Hazarai. Most of the features of this pedal, for half the price. For a digital delay, it's very warm. The one problem is it can't really oscillate, but it has plenty of possibilities. :)
Chumleh 2 years ago
So does anyone know if you can set a delay sound that you like, save it and pull up the sounds you saved? or do you have to edit the presets everytime?
guitarflame 3 years ago
yes you can save your presents.. it would suck balls if you couldnt.. what musician has the time to recreate all there presents every gig!

O this is the delay for me ;)
thanks for the demo
you guys rock !

I would like to know how this pedal works with pre-amp distortion and additional fx such as phaser and chorus. the dl4 that I own is giving me a hard time both in the fx loop and straight into the amp as the delays get muffled and distorted.
DimitrisTzetzas 3 years ago
Hi Andy, just wondering if you can give me some inputs. I'm currently in the midst of getting a delay pedal; requirements preferably, both delay and reverb, plus tap tempo.
Any suggestions for which pedal to get? I've checked out your nova delay video, but it didn't have the reverb option.
Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks!

So with the midi capabilities does this mean i could sinc the tempo with my MPC?

A perfect device and a PERFECT DEMO too ! The device is in the focus, not the vanity of the demonstrator. THANK YOU.

What expression pedal are you using?

Not a fancy one, it's made by M-Audio and it has worked for every demo I needed it for.

man you saved me a bunch of cash, I was going to get this as I hoped that the delay could controled via midi, is that not so?
aliengtr 3 years ago
Yes, you can use MIDI to control any parameter or change presets. Take a look at the manual from Eventide's site, it has tons of good info.
